GreenManGaming came through with £17 key for NMS. I can live with paying that for it. Got it downloading now.
By Smokey Go To Posthttps://www.nomanssky.com/next-update/Plenty I think. Game looks good, having fun at least. 2 hours just melted away.
What's changed at link. Too much to post.
It’s a small thing, but that initial shader loading screen for NMS that chugs along at 5fps is not the prettiest way to introduce the game.

Movement with Wrecking Ball is fun. I don't know where he'll turn up in the meta, but I am afraid of the theoretical play.
By Red Blaster Go To Postbeat resident evil hd remaster in less than 3 hours in a single sitting. always fascinating how tight the classic re games are once you figure out efficient routing and how few enemies you truly have to take care of.
the cavern section will always suck tho.
i just completed a run with chris that took 6 hours lmao. I used to speedrun the originals
By RobNBanks Go To Postthe third best gears, enjoyIt's pretty cool. You can see the origin of the fabricator sections of the Gears 4 campaign. The challenges for each new section do a lot to vary up the action, too. Like, in this section, you can only use the torque bow. There was one I just did where you could only use a lancer and a shield.
I don't know why I was sleeping on it.

Unreal. That's amazing.
Steam updated their friend's list and chat to be at least as capable as the Xbox 360!

Steam voice chat was rewritten from the ground up with a new WebRTC-based backend. As a result, voice chat uses high quality Opus encoding, voice traffic is encrypted, and all traffic is sent through Steam servers rather than directly to peers. This keeps your IP address private, which masks your physical location and also prevents network attacks.
The speeder bike part of Battletoads is like impossible to me without save states or the Rare Replay rewind feature. What the hell, man.
Bollocksed it
Battered the Apprentice Necromancer, took my best guys to fight the Swine Prince. Killed Wilbur, obviously you target the support guy first right?
Got absolutely destroyed. All my best heroes, trinkets and money gone on a flash.

By blackace Go To PostDD gives no fucks about your feelings…Activated Districts and the Flagellant but not the Crimson Court, wouldn't be able to handle the added mechanic of the blood curse. Don't think the alien DLC is out yet on PS4

Went back and did the Swine Prince, got back to a decent level in terms of money. Wonder if its worth sending a weak crew into the boss dungeons so you can afford to lose them while you figure the mechanics out.
That feeling when the occultist heals for zero and inflicts bleed :(
Not tried the abomination, flagellant or antiquarian yet. The latter's skills don't seem great.

Does upgrading the weapons of classes like the vestal and occultist increase the damage they do with their ranged attacks?

Messed around with NMS majority of the evening. Double dipped on One X, but I can't stand the ~30 fps performance. So I played it mostly on PC.
Had a mission to go to a planet with a distress beacon, but ran into this one. Huge body of water, and large land masses. Earth like.
Heading in
Spot what appears to be islands, decide to go and land there
Land on a cliffside. No sentinels. No dangerous elements. Water everywhere.
Decide to make this my home base and name the planet -- SL&ENT. Test it by leaving and re-entering. Whoever comes across this planet will see that I named it SL&ENT, the time and date I discovered it, my name etc.
Then a friend randomly warps to my system and joins. We use that time to mess around and see if anything is broken
He's able to fly around on the planet while I'm doing whatever. He is able to take back any items when he leaves the game. He can help out with base building etc. After a while he gets in and heads back up, says he jumped here. Wondered if his freighter would show up and yep, can see it from the ground. The ring planet in the background is actually where I started the game.
Can fly up to it, dock on it, walk around, warp with your friends to another galaxy etc
Can have up to 16 in a game, really curious what that looks like.
I haven't really even dug into some of the major updates to the game. I was on my way and got side tracked by the SL&ENT planet and then shit snowballed. This was from just the little island chain in the middle of the ocean. Could be a bunch of other shit on the actual continents. Gonna check that out tomorrow.

Huh
Sounds like something I'd actually want to play now
Did they make any graphical patches to the PS4 version? At launch it looked janky as fuck with the way all the randomised elements were just smashed into eachother.

The NEXT update that came out today added a bunch of graphical updates and modifications. It really is in a different spot than what it was 2 years ago. This is what it should've been but I'm guessing they were rushed and being indie and all that, it snowballed.

Better make use of that melee+jetpack combo to quickly move around and find some fuel, before you disintegrate. Otherwise it's time for a fresh game
Awesome pics and story Smokey. Just started out and having fun. The fact that have you start out the game scrambling with how the fuck everything works was interesting and fun.
Just watched a video of someone's base
Looks clean as fuck, miles closer to those prerelease trailers. Only £15 on PSN right now thinking.emoji

They've added a bunch of extra shit to keep you busy over the (now 4) expansions. The freighter stuff alone is huge, and there's the Atlas story if you need some kind of structure. Or you can just free roam and do whatever.
At launch it was basically just a planet resource management game and that was it.
I am tempted by NMS now. Question: in the first trailer there were things like massive Dune-like sandworms. Do things like that come up?

Disapppointing. Think there needs to be some truly outrageous but rare things to discover like that.
The update has been up for only 18 hours. With 18 quintilion planets, finding such rarities will take some time.
Chances are some no lifer on reddit will find something.

Yeah I’m pretty tempted too. Never bought it at launch due to all the bad press about it and just forgot about it really, lol
No wonder GTA Online is making tons of money.
I really need to go back to NMS, really liked what I played of the previous update.

Went back to the One X version of NMS, and performance seems better than yesterday. The HDR looks really good with the way colors are used in throughout the game, contrasted with space. Feel like the more responsive nature of a mouse vs a controller is better suited for the game now that I can go back and forth, but it's not horrible on console.
Enjoyed myself with it last night. The viewing controls felt horrific though on controller for flight though. Like, could barely get a good view of my surroundings.

Took 4 rookies into my first attempt at the Siren. Got a jammy scout right at the start, revealed the entire map so I ignored about the path from the start that comprised about a third of the rooms and would have meant a lot of backtracking. Collector showed up, piled on the blight and bleed while keeping on top of his spawns, slowly but safely beat him. That and the curios along the way filled my inventory so I made a beeline for the boss. Ran across a lineup of 4 Pelagic Groupers who very nearly killed me as they had 6 turns in a row, and my Occultist wasn't getting lucky with the heals. Two of my team were at Death's Door at a point, thanfully I hadn't camped or eaten so got a tonne of stress relief and heal before heading into the boss room.
She kept trying to recruit my Occultist but he resisted it about 5 times. Got lucky with her recruiting my Man-At-Arms, he has no stuns, moves or afflictions, and missed all of his attacks to boot.
Got my roster up to 28 even though its not necessary, and upgraded every skill that I use, everyone's armour and all the damage-dealers' melee weapons.
Sonorous Prophet next, not seeing much use in farming the level 1 scouting and skirmish missions, feel like the game is funneling me towards doing the bosses.

Should have said 'not necessary yet,' I know it will be later on. For now at this early stage its easy enough to keep everyone destressed and have more than enough heroes available every week. Interested to see what the choice of missions is when your roster has an even spread of heroes between level 3 and 0.
Does the game actually have a hard fail state? I presume there's a soft one if you can't recruit experienced heroes and the game is only giving you veteran+ missions.

By blackace Go To PostBTW Smokey can people have bases on the same planets?
I think so, reading from a post in the era OT.
All those planets and it seems crazy to me that I have had 10 to 15 people show up in the same solar system. With 6 to 8 build bases on my planet last night that I had been on since yesterday early afternoon. Yes I was a Grinch and moved my base to the other side of the planet cause other people wanted to build next to where I was. I mean there's a whole planet why plop yourself right next to someone. *Grinch face* It like going into a empty theater and sitting right next to the few people already there.
Its not even a starter planet I made the first jump. I even picked a system off the "path" it had selected. I guess I'm just surprised to see that many people already in close proximity. It's not anyone on my friends list or their friends list cause we checked.

Part of me feels like that's one of the reasons McCree got buffed again. There is way to much to worry about with him bouncing all over the place. Day 1 and Assassins are already taking full advantage of his chaos. 😂
He kinda gets bodied by the cowboy.
