People that make snide remarks about not having to buy an Xbox because of Play Anywhere weren't going to buy an Xbox anyway. They've intimated in interviews before that there isn't a huge crossover of users across the PA games, that people mostly tend to buy these games on the platform they play them on.
If you buy State of Decay on PC, Microsoft is still getting your money. They're okay with it.

I dunno I love gow but Im hoping this story isn't the focus of the game. Gow has lived and died by fast addictive action and some of the most incredible set pieces in gaming.
And clearly I've been spoiled but I feel like it looks competent (considering it's first party game) as opposed to mine blown. Like it's not touching lou2 in any department imo

In putting my chips down that it will be at least 6/10 good.

That's not a bet with good returns. Almost any exclusive is at least that.

I hate the direction they took with this game and the last game informer video Interview makes me doubt the quality of this game even more. Certain statements sound like they had no idea how to handle all aspects of the game without having anything already set while developing the engine at the same time.

Wanky-looking 3rd person combat and a kid, i'm not hype right now. really need to see more big man.
You really think God of War ain't about to have the dopest set pieces this gen?
They can't show it all off pre release

The Wii Shop is shutting down soon - March is the last time you can add funds. Which sounds like "who cares" but there's a bunch of decent stuff on there that will likely never be seen again, like Contra Rebirth. I'm looking at Gradius Rebirth...but I'd rather see Gradius V rereleased on PS4 with trophy support. Wish Sony would step up their PS2 releases on PS4.
The original Wii is also bizarrely the only console with a decent version of Final Fantasy VI. I'm hoping Square eventually gets around to putting up their pre-VII FFs on PS4, they've been coasting off the crummy PS1 version forever now, and it's not even PS4 compatible because Sony didn't bring any of the PSN games forward for some reason.
There are also 87 Ys games on PS platforms but not a port of I&II on PC Engine (despite Hudson putting things like Neutopia & Alien Crush on Vita), which I'd rather play than the remake tbh. Somehow that got stuck on Wii, for some reason it was one of the only TG-16 games never brought forward to Wii U despite being one of the most notable.
Also some Japan-only stuff that was released untranslated on Wii & might never resurface (at least not in the near future) like Alien Soldier, Gley Lancer, Monster World IV and Super Fantasy Zone.

one of few ways to get Castlevania Rondo of Blood too, alongside a bunch of MSX and PC Engine games in Japan
By YungMagus Go To PostAnd Decent Version of Chrono Trigger on the eshop as well.
And Orge Battle 64.
Fortunately Ogre Battle 64 made it forward to the Wii U virtual console, so that's not about to vanish off the face of the Earth. But yeah, Chrono Trigger and the original Secret of Mana are other good ones to mention.

I often wonder if I should have bought a Japanese Wii, their virtual console was a gold mine. Fortunately the original Rondo of Blood is also available as part of Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles on PSP/Vita (the main feature of which is a remake which, tbh, I kind of prefer to the original).

I'm more shocked at the backlash it's getting. The Last of Us revolved around a father/daughter-type relationship. Same with Yakuza. Sully's kind of a father figure in Uncharted. Father-son is at the core of The Walking Dead. Heck, even Batman and Superman have sons and that somehow worked out to be cool. There are any number of examples as to why this shouldn't be a problem for people.
I think it'll probably be a good angle, especially with more adults gaming these days. The trick is just to make the kid a badass but play against spunky youth-fiction tropes.

The combat looks like fun. The trailers have already shown more enemy variety than all of breath of the wild.
Also, Destiny 2 starting to struggle

I don't know how you mess that series up. All they had to do was iterate with a new engine and more multiplayer modes. Management pressure for monetization must have been stupid and unrealistic.
Cowen has reiterated its Market Perform rating on Activision Blizzard (ATVI +0.5%), noting that add-on revenue should suffer from dissatisfaction over its Destiny franchise.
Destiny 2 is "struggling right now with player engagement appearing to be on the wane," analyst Doug Creutz says in the note. Contrast that with higher expectations for live revenue around 2017 top-seller Call of Duty: WWII, he says.
Several key video streamers have indicated that they'll reduce content around the game in the future, and Twitch viewership is at franchise-low levels of 4,000-7,000 on average Friday afternoons.
Microtransactions are a problem, he notes – not as big a problem as for Star Wars: Battlefront II (NASDAQ:EA), but still a "source of player unhappiness."
