Anyone else pick up an nes classic?. I barely play my snes classic but picked up the new classic anyway. I hacked it and I’ve been hooked playing Tecmo Super Bowl. I swear that game is always fun to play.

That looked... really very bad. Destiny 2 looked more exciting and that is not a compliment to D2.

If someone showed me this out of the blue and told me it's a mid-range budget loot shooter by some smallish dev team I'd genuinely believe it and then probably never think about the game again.

Also that frame rate should not be legal in 2018.

It looks okay. I made it 10 minutes in before closing the video, but I’m not really in the market dor that sort of thing right now. The blocky armour designs and generic story don’t do a whole lot for me though.

I really think it looks a game that's using a cross gen engine and is therefore struggling to put out anything particularly advanced as a result. I can't see any particularly clever effects being used here nor is the lighting very complicated. I'm not sure where the graphical budget is being used here at all.

I'm shocked that what is being shown is struggling to hit 30fps.

Only concession I'll make is that the reveal demo did look good, which makes me concerned by what we are seeing here.

I don't understand how this is the same engine that is running BF5 at 60fps and looks twice as good in still screenshots.

I can't understand laboured's criticism. Anthem looks as good as the other highlight frostbite games and better in some areas(character models and facial animations). Cross gen? budget? what

Anthem looks better than Battlefront 2, which I thought was a really good looking game.

I'm re-watching it to ensure I'm not going mad. Indoor environment does look decent enough.

As soon as we get outside it falls apart.

Heavy shader highlighting on objects that shouldn't have it makes it look almost non PBR. Camera motion blur is shite. Most of the atmospheric effects look like cheap alpha layers and look non-volumetric (fog effects are poor for example). Real time lighting effects like gun fire casting light and shadow seem to effect the character model but not the environment. There doesn't seem to many objects that are subject to physics and a lot of foliage doesn't seem to move. Water effects look basic and doesn't react to players. Where are the physics driven particles? They'd be perfect for this.

There's nothing there that looks special or eye-opening. Texture detail comes through but the lighting on it doesn't seem to have material nuance. Draw distance is done well compared to some open world console games I've seen.

Think Battlefield 2 looks way better and is running at twice the frame rate.

The graphics are not something that wow me in any way either. It looks alright, but from the very first reveal I said I didn't find it very good looking. Laboured put it well enough, a lot of very static foliage coupled with particle effects they themselves clearly are in love with, to the point of completely over doing them everywhere.

But I could easily live with that, I mean I play csgo and football manager. The much bigger concern however is how boring it looks.

Well ya, that annoys me more. I actually want this to be good but if you're coming to the loot-shooter GAAS big leagues you need to be a lot more interesting and polished than this.

I meant that in terms of running advanced effects and the speed its running them at. Obvs it's not cus it's Frostbite, but Bioware don't seem like they've mastered it yet in the slightest.

Comparing this against, say, what Division 2 is pulling off is almost unfair.

Cool. It’s a nice looking game with some of the best weather effects you’ve ever seen, I think you’ll like it. I have a feeling the season pass might include everything except bikes. Bikes expansion is on sale for $7.50, really tempted to jump on that. If they had Triumph I’d have probably got that before he cars.

I think the main reason why Anthem is currently sub-30 fps is because it's a Frostbite game that's not made by DICE. We have had plenty of reports stating how a lot of EA's devs are having problems using the engine for their games.

Man, some of the gameplay shown in Anthem looks great

but I'm getting Division 2 instead.

I should have gotten Division Gold back when it was on sale. Hopefully it does again in the near future.

Damnit. I was thinking hard about this.

It's a 30fps game but doesn't feel like it, right?

Does anybody have GT Sport? It got a mediocre reception at launch, but after some updates word of mouth has been pretty good. I’ve been watching some youtubers and some of the racing like the one above looks great. I love that the game won’t let you into the higher ranks unless you can race clean.

So I love bikes, I’d buy an Aprilia or an MV Augusta if I thought there was a chance I wouldn’t insta-murder myself. But the last slightly sim bike racer I got was Moto GP on PS3 and I could barely control it enough make it through a race so I held off here. I’ll check it out soon.
