i'm not a MH hater really, but its a certain kind of stale that doesn't really come across in the beta. MHW might change a bit, and I hope it does, but its still very much a MH game.

Dragons Dogma is one of the most visually stale, sterile, boring games I've ever played. Hard to believe a Japanese developer was behind it, yet alone a DMC director.

Combat is boring too, feels like Bethesda trying to emulate Platinum games.

They're not even hard to fight either, the game just controls like shit to spike difficulty since they can't actually design decent encounters.

Its basically Toukiden with more fluff and powered by Nintendo stans.

Hey now I've been a fan since the ps2 and psp days!

I think they're fine by and large, I don't know what the high rank ones look like though since I never reached it in 4U and am trying to keep away from the bestiary of MHW. A lot of them are pretty obvious blown up versions of real animals, or slight variations of existing fantasy creatures, but pretty much all of them (except Kirin) that I've seen are consistent with their own universe if you know what I mean. Pukei Pukei looks like shit admittedly :P

I don't know what Toikuden is. Personally find that MHW controls well in terms of animation lock-in, response, that kind of thing. The button placements are bizarre though, and obviously the camera struggles due to its nature of being largely melee combat amongst the feet of huge enemies. Find it much easier to just ignore the lock on.

15 months PS+ for the price of 12 right now. You know you want to ¬¬

Still undecided how I want to spread my playtime across solo and co-op. Especially if there's still the glitch I've seen mentioned where you can't share a quest unless you've both already seen the cutscene that introduces the monster. Lobby codes need fucking off as well, mental that Capcom launched the beta without an invite system in place. Hope to god that they've sorted that out in time for launch.

Doesn't help as well that apparently the monster hp scales the same whether you're in a party of two, or a party of four.

Toukiden 1 was the only one of these games I could ever get into. It had great style and the gameplay felt good.

Of course they went and changed to a lame shounen anime style in the sequel and the series seems to have died.

turn off the hair physx, turn off worthless ambient occlusion, and bring shadows down to medium and it'll probably be at 50 fps on a single 1080 with the right cpu

FFXII came out right around the time when I realized jrpgs were trash, so I never gave it a proper chance.

I absolutely loved the first two. Some of my favorite games from last gen. Don't know how much confidence I have in this one. But if it is at least as good as the original in single player, I'll enjoy it. Glad I don't have to risk wasting any money on it.

Crackdown is some of the most fun I had on 360. I'm really looking forward to 3.
