By rvy Go To Postthe toilet is not a throne to sit uponI get the sense that a lot of gamers don’t really have a diet that’s conducive to that.

Looks like we're getting the first real battlefield sequel in years. The trailer was whatever but the changes to the core gameplay sound fantastic.

You’re wrong, fam. The toilet is the 45 minute seat of peace.
Everything I've read about Battlefield V sounds great. Looking forward to the gameplay reveal in two weeks.

I eat plenty of tinned vegetables, that’s besides the point. It’s all about having a relaxing 45 minute sit down, browse of the news, play some games and just letting everything fall out.

By FootbalIFan Go To PostPc or xbox?PC, maybe it's just me but there's always 5-10 mins of downtime between games!
now that the detroit embargo is up:
there's a literal back of the bus for androids. the game is horrible.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
It also doesn't help that Cage himself hasn't learned much in the way of subtlety. Detroit: Become Human never veers wildly off-course like Beyond: Two Souls' odd Navajo chapter, but the general references to real-life social issues are delivered with the grace of a freight train. Androids ride in the back of the bus. At one point, an android spray paints "We Have a Dream" as the rallying cry of their civil right movement. (To be fair, that's a choice.)
the way that the social disparity between humans and androids is conveyed in Detroit is such an on-the-nose series of references to the American Civil Rights Movement that it's hard not to to be taken aback. Androids are forced into the back of buses, segregated from some public areas and private establishments, and made to use the stairs instead of escalators… for some reason. When Markus rallies other rebellious androids and you get to pick their protest slogan, you are actually given the option to choose "we have a dream." These references are distracting, and at no point does it feel justified to lift from the history of actual people who've suffered–and continue to suffer–in the real world.
Subtlety is not Detroit: Become Human’s strongpoint. At every turn, you’re hit over the head with the alleged significance of what’s happening on screen and while it aims to be powerful and moving, it regularly veers into a bit that would be at home in a BBC mockumentary.
Servers are a fucking mess, took me around 20 tries to connect to the server yesterday but after you are connected, it's all pretty quick.
Played 2 matches and it took less than 1 minute to go from one match to the other.
Game is decent enough, everything feels very simplified. Definitely going to try it a few more times.

super hyped. sounds like they learned from bf1, which the setting was great, but felt like they went too far away from bf4. simplified the game too much imo.

Ended up finally beating Limbo with only one death. Good time. Platforming is better than 99% of platformers.

Yep. So did I. Therefore must I say it again:
Reviews are worthless in 2018.
Outside of fodder for message boards. The review thread on ERA is like 10 pages. Nobody got time for that. Demo was interesting, so I'll see what the full game about.
Simple
I've enjoyed his games for the initial play through. It's when you go and play again and then again to see alternate story paths where things really fall apart.
By data Go To PostA David cage game would be boring as fuck if it wasn't ham fisted
I mean yeah they are entertaining just as b-movies are entertaining. It's fun how hammy and badly written they are. I had a great time playing it with a buddy.

I mean Heavy Rain did too when they pulled that twist. Like why did you let me hear their thoughts ?

Is the concept of watching terrible movies with friends, chatting and drinking beers foreign to you?
I had a wonderful time watching The Room but it's still a terrible movie.

So yeah, basically reviews are worthless in 2018. You got some entertainment out of it. Somehow I'm always right!
I don't think EDGE reviews are worthless, at all. You know they have a bias for Engerlund developed games and they're harsh, that's all you need to know.

I didn't know that Detroit was made by David Cage... a game with civil rights themes by David Cage lol wow..
By blackace Go To PostI didn't know that Detroit was made by David Cage… a game with civil rights themes by David Cage lol wow..Every Quantic Dream game will have him involved in some capacity.
Unless someone buys his shares or they somehow massively beef up the studio to two teams, he's always gonna be involved.
By GQman2121 Go To PostBut that opening though!Yeah the opening was pretty damn great, including the whole sequence where the cop suddenly appears in front of your door.
…..
I got nothing. I was entertained. But, yeah, it's not good.
Whatever, I still enjoy those games somewhat. I get that the nearly non existing gameplay isn't for everybody and the stories are usually piss poor, but if that became a point for purchase decisions, people would have to bin 80% of games.
By Mariosalic Go To PostI mean Heavy Rain did too when they pulled that twist. Like why did you let me hear their thoughts ?I like the overall concept of involving the player in the characters thoughts, because it's a method that's hardly used in media.
In that case it was obviously the wrong decision and overall Quantic Dream games run into the same problem every time, they want to build a game with suspension and twists and fail to deliever for various reasons (plot holes, the non subtle narrative, wrong stylistic devices).
Which is a shame, because they nail the general feeling of their games, the world you're playing in and so on.
Oh and I think the twist and plot holes weren't that much of a problem compared to what happened in Fahrenheit.
