By Smokey Go To PostMS can't win with you people.I haven't played enough, but I think my max would be low plat, so diamond anything is far beyond me. lol
I'm pretty sure I've maxed out in Halo 5 MP FFA - Diamond 2. It's where I call it quits. Not even Onyx, but idgaf. Got me looking at my Elite controller like do my fucking triggers not work anymore? Yall got auto 5 shot pistol enabled? Miss on a 5 shot and dude you tagging is laughing at you as he gets a Perfect. Got matched up with the #4 FFA player TWICE yesterday and got R E K T. 25 kills to win and second place only had 10. I got 3rd. Humbled tbh. I've reached the end of the road.
Messing around with Warzone shit because I can. It's... not as awful as I was led to believe. You definitely need vehicles or some special power weapons in order to kill the big NPC's in the last two waves in time. So, yeah, p2w in that respect but at least there are two different PvE versions of that mode now.
The inclusion of those vehicles make for better PvE encounters than what Destiny 2 was able to put out, imo. I like them more than the mmo raid boss mechanics, in any case.
By Smokey Go To PostThis new Fable is being made by an entirely new team away from con man molyneux. It could be good. They greenlight exclusives and still get shit on, smh.
i don't trust MS and "entirely new team" see Halo.
I think their big franchises are stale, yearly Forzas, a couple of Halos and GoW excites nobody anymore. Fable is not the fix.
I didn't particularely enjoy Horizon but MS could use one of those.
By Mariosalic Go To PostMS can do plenty good but Fable is such a garbage series.Fable and Fable II are outstanding.
It's not Fable IV, it's a reboot. It's going to be open world and have probably not very much to do with the original Lionhead trilogy. It's not like they told Playground, hey, make this like that old thing.
Why not just make a new IP a la Horizon? I doubt there is a huge audience waiting for a new Fable entry.
By s y Go To PostWhy not just make a new IP a la Horizon? I doubt there is a huge audience waiting for a new Fable entry.this guy gets it.
The be a King and make decisions thing was actually an excellent idea for Fable III (IV? I forget), but the execution was fucking awful.

I'm getting matched with Onyx and Diamonds only now, which is fine. It should be that way. But in this bracket everybody's pistol is fucking on point.
Since I started back up on the Halo train, I've spent 200k req points on packs. That's all came from natural playing of the game. Seems like there's a good balance between playing for points and buying imo.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostThe fact that we don't have Perfect Dark 2/reboot is a real crime.I think this gives a lot of credence to those Perfect Dark reboot stories. The only rumor in the last couple of weeks that Microsoft actually commented on was re: The Coalition making a new IP. They gave a no comment on Fable and said nothing about Perfect Dark despite the API leak, gi.biz and now IGN saying Perfect Dark is happening.
Is it going to be the game everybody wants? I don't know. It sounds like a stealth game.
By Smokey Go To PostMS can't win with you people.
I fucking hate Fable. Fable was a mediocre game from the very first one, which later became downright terrible as the series kept going, but also in the end was the main reason for the death of a once great studio. Fuck Fable and Microsoft.
So what do we do after killing the original studio, after running it into the ground by grinding out shitty fable games? We make a new developer keep going at it!

By Mariosalic Go To Posti don't trust MS and "entirely new team" see Halo. There's been one new Halo on Xbox One and it sold very well (5M copies as of the end of 2015). Forza Horizon 3 is the best selling one of those and continues to move. Forza 7 still debuted in the top 10 and has over a million players.
I think their big franchises are stale, yearly Forzas, a couple of Halos and GoW excites nobody anymore. Fable is not the fix.

You might not be interested in these games, but they're not stale or played out.
By Mariosalic Go To Postthat sounds very stale to me.come on now, man, that's delusional
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postfor fuck sakeI think it's pretty logical. Diversify the lineup, create experiences that aren't Gears or Halo, and I think PD would really work in the style of old Splinter Cell like Pandora Tomorrow or Chaos Theory.
By Kibner Go To Postcome on now, man, that's delusional
there's a reason GoW and Halo are regressing while Forza and Horizon were never huuuge sellers.
their big titles went down in sales and they did absolutely nothing to replace them with newer ones. Sony did a much better job at this.
He did it AGAIN

Absolutely warping the genre of a beloved franchise is how you get people pissed off. If you want to add RPG mechanics or something to PD then that's cool, but turning it into a stealth game would PISS people off.

By reilo Go To PostYou know what was cool about Horizon? It was a new IP that Sony greenlit.Right. And Microsoft should keep trying to make new IP, even if this gen they've only seen success on State of Decay and Ori. But trying to resurrect properties that have proven to be highly successful is okay, too. They did very well for themselves rebooting Killer Instinct.
By Kibner Go To PostSo was Fable. At one point, yes. But that was a Microsoft a dozen years ago.

It was a new IP that MS eventually bought the rights to. Big blue were working on it for quite some time before MS signed up to get it, so not quite them greenlit it.
you guys get kinda irrational with ms lmao
do you hate on god of war coming back too? new gow could just be new ip, but like fable, it has fans for some reason so it's better to take advantage of the name

I don't think anyone is arguing "only new IPs, please". I think we're questioning the rationale of resurrecting an old IP based on the success of a new IP from their competitor. "Horizon, but like, in Fable-verse!" Is that what you really want? It sounds extremely derivative, and by their own admission, it is! Which is funny because Horizon is pretty derivative but at least the universe was new. So it's like a derivation of a derivation. Inception, 2018.
By rerixo Go To Postdo you hate on god of war coming back too?
Have you even read this thread? Yes, people shit on it all the time.
I think the Horizon thing isn't so much, "Playground is making Horizon with a dog and fart jokes." It's more that the success of that game allowed Spencer to greenlight a AAA single player experience and comfortably sell it to his bosses to the point that they're footing the bill for Playground to open a new office for it.
But the comfort only extends in-so-far to resurrecting an existing IP with established source material with different gameplay. That's kind of a problem in and of itself, no? Why didn't Horizon's success allow Spencer to greenlight a AAA single player experience and comfortably sell it to his bosses by giving a studio the reigns to come up with something original?
And if Fable was a good IP in 2018, they wouldn't need to do a competitive analysis like that to make it happen lol. There's zero confidence on display here.

If DoW doesn’t interest you there’s potentially other new stuff. However, if Fable 4 doesn’t interest you, there’s not much else new besides Sea of Thieves.
Sequels are fine but after awhile people want new experiences.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postthe death of Ninja Gaiden is a fucking tragedy tbhWhy would a game like that even need a AAA budget? I think it would be better off with a tighter and more focused game loop than whatever extra stuff a AAA budget would try to smush in.

it seems the main issue with ms is they don't announce games ten years in advance

Right? Every time I read about it I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. "But the first one was good!" Come on, it was fugly counterfeit back-alley Zelda that skated by on its alignment gimmick.
If you liked it idc go have fun with a new one.

Yep. It just kept getting tackier & tackier as the games went on, too. The first one was GOAT character action game (well okay, the camera is utterly unacceptable in this day & age). I didn't even bother with the third one.
MS should totally make one and have it be their fast-paced Nioh. Hard-as-fuck character action games are de rigueur now.

Crackdown 3 was shown way too early. It was unveiled in their BS cloud marketing stage.
