By FlutterPuffs Go To PostWhat previous FF isnt using kiddie controlsAnd in plenty of games today. What’s wrong with menu based combat?
this was passed off as game mechanics in the 90s
By Kibner Go To PostThat PS4 PSN version is also on Steam.I know, I just can't be bothered to sit ours in front of my PC. Rather have my comfy couch.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostAnd in plenty of games today. What’s wrong with menu based combat?I'm not saying it's bad, but simplistic controls like in KH or FXV gets a lot of flak from JRPG fans that it's ridiculous.

well the gameplay of those are trash, that's the difference
It's not even that you make a lot of tactical decisions in previous FF anyway. 90% of the battles have you tapping on the same sequence of commands over and over
biggest issue is that they ignore a lot of common sense improvements to the genre to stay pretty
that's not a shot at KH since its been ages since i've even played one of those games. but ff15? does not get a pass for being braindead husbando simulator 4k

That image is of FFIV which isn’t turn-based, it’s ATB. Only turn-based FF games are the first three and X.
By Wahabipapangus Go To Postwell the gameplay of those are trash, that's the differenceKH combat and FFXV combat isn't even comparable. The combat in KH apart from 1.5, 2.5 and 0.2 is trash but even the combat in the worst KHs is better than the best FF.
2.5 has the best arpg combat ever though.
Sidenote: I still remember Dy stanning for FFXV AFTER playing the duscae demo.

By Laboured Go To PostWeird question but can anyone link me to any Divinity 2 vids that would convince me, a True Computer Game Player, of its brilliance? If you're not already convinced, then this isn't the game for you.
And you're too old for R6.
Incinerate.
By data Go To PostBattle Chaser is 50% off on Steam. I heard that was pretty good.
Good if you could get by the faults.
All rpgs were essentially adaptations of Dungeons & Dragons, which was a cultural phenomenon back in the 80s. Its combat is -wait for it - turn based. It was only in the PS3 era that everybody suddenly and weirdly decided that the only valid form of rpg was an open world action game. Originally the genre emerged as something to offer a distinct option from reflex-based action games. The compromise wound up being easy action games with more dialogue than usual.
I don’t mind those games but I’m not sure this actually constitutes progress.

I miss Halo but I aint getting a One. I'd do counterstrike but man I'd just get flat out roasted by long term players. I miss shooters sans a bunch of progression bs, just me and my guns and a nade.

Going from the OG Bard's Tales / Might and Magic to the SSI goldbox RPGs just made sense

By Laboured Go To PostFinished Soma. Great story and writing. Excellent sound work too.The game deserved twice the praise & sales Firewatch got. Alas, this is the world we live in.

By GQman2121 Go To PostGTA online just added battle royal mode too.it did?!
By s y 2.0 Go To Postit did?!Sort of...
The brand new Trap Door mode is the latest blood sport to sweep Los Santos, where teams strapped with an arsenal of weaponry compete on a rapidly shrinking floating platform high above the Pacific. Every kill banishes your enemies to respawn in the dreaded red zone – a purgatory area that only gives you scant seconds to escape back to the mainland before the rug is pulled out from under you and your fatal plummet begins.
Pride always comes before a fall, but in this deadly new Adversary Mode that fall is a few hundred feet into the ocean – and you’re probably dead before you hit the water. Get on top, stay on top and be the last squad to avoid being a drop in the bucket.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostBest FF is V, XII, and maybe VI.
You cool.
You got V on your list.
By s y 2.0 Go To PostBesides being the worst type of combat, nothing I guess.
Turn based , menu based, combat is The WOAT

Show me a vid of 2.5 gameplay. I need to see why this game is giving you shit opinions.

Which does that insult more tho?
Show me a vid of 2.5 gameplay.
KH 2 when it originally released had zero level design, inexcusably small worlds and an awful story but the combat makes up for a lot.
KH2.5(KH2 Final Mix) adds 14 excellent boss fights, more content, a whole new and well designed area, the best difficulty mode and more.

Hope Sony and Nintendo follow suit. This is an amazing effort from MS.
"I will never turn this into a Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft [competitive] thing," head of Xbox Phil Spencer said at the event. "Anybody, literally anybody who wants to learn from the work we’ve done here—or even try to do more than that with the work we’ve done here—I’m completely open to that. it doesn’t have to have an Xbox logo on it. Let's just allow more people to play."https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2018/05/xbox-adaptive-controller-a-bold-answer-to-the-tricky-world-of-accessible-gaming/
By Lunatic Go To PostYep can't watch that video. Got 54 secs in before I started to upset me.you upset yourself?
By blackace Go To Postyou upset yourself?I absolutely hate seeing disabled people as it deeply bothers me that nothing can been done to make them lead a normal life.
The only exciting thing about state of decay 2,has always been if it manages to be less appealing than days gone.
MS nails it on one end with things like game pass, that controller, backwards compatibility and screws it up on the other with mediocre games like Sea of Thieves and State of Decay.
By etc Go To PostIs GamePass nailing it when the games aren't worth playing?
That's exactly what i'm saying though. They built stuff to succeed but if they don't deliver the games it's all for nothing.
Just think if MS spent the time and money on game development and not on controllers that I don't even need to not play their games. What a waste of resources.
