By livefromkyoto Go To PostHow much have you played of Super Luigi?all of it.
yeah the online stuff isn't exactly great but it's $20, hard to get too mad about that. Depends on how the discounts are and how often they add games.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostIce Climbers is better than most trash on PS+ .Even Jeremy Parish thinks Ice Climbers is gomi. It was a platformer before Nintendo figured out how to do jumping momentum or proper collision detection a year later with Super Mario Bros. It's interesting as a historical artifact because it's an early arrangement of a bunch of design principles they'd master later, but are historical curiosities really going to be a selling point here? (If so give me Space Firebird, Monkey Magic & Sky Skipper, the really arcane shit).
I dunno, I love retrogaming but even I look at this list of games and can't believe they're trying to pull this.
Soccer
Tennis
Donkey Kong
Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros.
Balloon Fight
Ice Climber
Dr. Mario
The Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Bros. 3
Soccer and Tennis are so archaic that they can't actually expect anyone to put any real time into them.
Donkey Kong is still the 2nd rate NES version without the pie factory level or all kinds of animations, but whatever, it's still solid I guess.
Mario Bros. is a variation on Joust-era game design that gets old in 5 minutes.
Balloon Fight is literally Joust - they repurposed a Famicom Joust demo Iwata had originally made to show to Atari when Nintendo were trying to get them to release the Famicom in the West as the next Atari console. Shout out to balloon trip mode though, Joust would have benefitted from something like that. I guess it's fine here.
Dr. Mario is a b-tier puzzle game that some people probably remember fondly, but there are a billion better options in this day & age.
Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3 are great, but barely multiplayer games.
Zelda is likewise great, and I guess the idea of playing through it cooperatively is kind of cool.
I dunno, this list is kinda questionable, they went way too heavy on the early Famicom era stuff just to get monetizing it out of the way up front. Legit shocked if they don't throw in Urban Champion.
im still playing and loving the fuck out of battletech, but pillars of eternity is looking kinda nice right now. might finally jump in if destiny 2 can't hold me down

Bought Battletech recently, apart from starting the tutorial I’ve made zero progress in it so far. Got any generals tips for it?
Seems good from what i did play, planning to get into it properly later today.

It's trash is what it is. Also apparently this dumb service that you have to pay for is the only way to get cloud backup saves according to era? So if you happened to get got on the subway for your switch, all your saves and progress are gone unless you pay for this archiac service?
By jjasper Go To PostVirtual Console had a good run. RIP
It'll live on through emulation. Never was a fan of VC, paying £6 for SNES games on the WiiU that were released at a trickling rate. Would rather have a Gamepass sort of deal, pay X amount a month to access Nintendo's full back catalogue of games. Doubt Ninty will do that either though.

The Wii U version like everything else about that console sucked (although it had some N64 games that the WIi didn't). I think I might prefer the SNES/NES mini model way of doing it. If they had let you expand your library on it by selling small NES/SNES carts with like 10 games on them they could have done the whole thing that way. I am sure they didn't do that though cause they were worried about piracy but look where that got them,

I'm not fussed on the NES/SNES mini models, purely because I don't want more physical devices when what I've got already can more than handle running those older games. I'd love to see Nintendo just centralise their back catalogue into one device (the Switch).
By rodeoclown Go To PostSquare is gonna have a press conference just to show off more Final Fantasy XV DLC.KINGDOM
HEARTS
THREE
Bitch
And the Avengers I guess.
By jjasper Go To PostCan’t wait for that CG FF7R trailer with fake gameplay.
especially after they outsourced it and then threw away 2 years of work.
I can't wait for that first episode of Final Fantasy VII R to come out and end after like seven hours after you escape Midgar and then you have to wait another three years for the next episode.
That shit will end on the PS6.

By etc Go To PostNot sure about Vampyr
Production values remind me of the Frogwares Sherlock Holmes games, but its in a genre where that won't cut it.
Not really sure I am sold on it either, but God I hope it's good

Imagine if it has 15's wanky combat? Scenes.
By jjasper Go To Postis Assassin's creed origin good or is it just an assassins creed game?Doesn't play anything like any other AC games apart from the climbing. Combat is rehauled, not great but definitely better than TW3 or BOTW. Crazy huge , beautiful world. Lots of loot if you're into that.
I got like 80 hours out of it, worth $30.
By s y 2.0 Go To PostCombat is so so but everything else is 9/10
Is Watch Dogs 2 trash?
The fake Google mission alone is maybe the closest game devs have ever come to being woke

then I remembered it was set at Silicon Valley
i played the first one for like 5 hours, it was okay but it leans way too heavily on tabletop rpg stuff which i'm not into

A classic
By Freewheelin Go To PostWhere’s my Burnout 3: Takedown you heathens?!Next batch of original Xbox games won't be til summer. Burnout 3 is still for sale on the 360 marketplace, though, so it has a good shot to make it.
By DY_nasty Go To Postanyone here actually played pillars? im kinda liking their set up lol

The first one is legit. If you are into Crpgs definitely check it out. I know Blackace and I think Facism? are into Pillars
By jjasper Go To Postis Assassin's creed origin good or is it just an assassins creed game? It's good, way better than I was expecting. It makes a serious case for best open world ever.
By DY_nasty Go To Postanyone here actually played pillars? im kinda liking their set up lol

First one was decent and had a decent expansion. Waiting for all the expansions to come out for the sequel before i sink full-price money into the sequel, though.
15 smackaroos. it goes to chairty but it's nice for people to see this price because i dont think they realize that would be the price for most legendary skins if there weren't loot boxes. like they've never looked at hots 1.0 skins or wow mount prices
By DY_nasty Go To Postanyone here actually played pillars? im kinda liking their set up loli put ~150h into Pillars 1. The base game was good, the expansions were better. By the third act it became obvious they were working with a limited budget and had to make sacrifices because of it. Some features, like the keep, simply didn't pan out. The DLC was a step up on many fronts.
pirates are never wrong
Pillars 2 seems to be everything Pillars 1 could've been, if Obsidian had a proper budget to work with and had the base engine already in place. I expect a similar upgrade as when going from Baldur's Gate to BG2. I'm stroked to play it, gotta finish GoW first tho.
By Wahabipapangus Go To Postvery problematic, that they had to make it pink
i don't know if you are joking or not but proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation whose logo is a pink ribbon.

Mostly enjoying Soma albeit in Safe Mode.
Even then most of the monsters' presence seems kinda pointless so far in terms of world building. Wonder if they're ever actually explained by the end.

I only care about the story. If the monsters don't represent an interesting part of it then they can go in the fucking bin tbqh.

Days Gone, I think
By Smokey Go To PostDays Gone, I thinkYep. From the released footage, looks janky as fuck but the npc count is impressive.
