I don't think it was explicit at all. The gist of it was implied, which is that Luke needs to remember that the jedi inspired people to do great things. Whatever it was that got Luke off of Tatooine wasn't those dusty books. It was a belief in what the jedi stood for. And he needs to do it for the kids.
Maybe this is all wrong, in which case I should just stop watching movies.

I'm a bit lost because that's nowhere near the same as "Yoda was there to remind Luke he was an idiot". And that's actually a pretty good summary of the Yoda scene and what I was getting at.
Yoda is there to tell Luke that maybe he's right and both of their Jedi Orders were failures, but that doesn't mean they are always going to be, but rather that Rey can learn from these failures and make a better one.
There's a lot more nuance and detail than people are used to in this film compared to other star wars movies.

I don't know, there was just a tad too much "remember when, ya big dummy?" in that scene
By domino Go To PostIs the 3D worth it? That's the only reason I'd go again instead of waiting for the dvdthose were the only tickets I could get.
I thought it was pretty good.

It's actually pretty well done for anything vehicle/space related.
Meant to mention it earlier, but the longer it sits with me, the more appreciation I'm having for Leia's moment in TLJ. People are complaining it makes no sense, and I mean yeah, Leia hasn't been force choking people this whole time, but she was in the vacuum of space! She probably couldn't have flown around if she, say, fell out of a plane or was deep in the ocean. We've already got teenagers with minimal training making precision force tosses with lightsabers and clearing out entire rock slides, so the idea that one of the most force-aligned veterans alive was able to push herself like twenty feet in a life-or-death situation in an environment with virtually no gravity or friction to fight doesn't seem like that huge a stretch to me.

True, I think it's just the fact she hasn't anything remotely force like in the movies. Ok she could sense Luke. Hmmm, allright it could be plausible.
She probably learned some tricks from Luke .
The amount of people cashing in with click-bait bullshit about this film on Youtube, in particular, is kind of astonishing in a disgusting but expected sort of way.
I will say this tho. Adam Driver is the best thing to happen to this franchise.
He’s so far above everyone else it’s almost to the movie’s detriment

When people look back on this, he'll be one of the favorites of the series.
rewatched it
That last shot of a poor kid looking out to the sky, that is what Star Wars needs to be, not about ancient prophecies, or a bloodline, or space battles. Just looking into the horizon for that something.

It wouldn't have the same impact and it'd be completely off imo. Being a whiny self entitled man child that wants to defy his parents just works for an actor of Adam Driver's caliber.

one of the worst mistakes in writing for TFA was not allowing Kylo to reveal himself as Han's son until he asked him to take off his mask
No idea how JJ fucked that up--would have been one of the best moments in all of Star wars

I'm saying casually throwing it out in that moment was a waste
I liked it more that way. Meant you had that hanging over the whole scene with Han at Starkiller as opposed to it being dropped on you. You knew they were going to meet; added to the tension.
Part of Kylo's character getting better is his backstory. Knowing that Luke had a brief moment where he lapsed was enough to make that final push to the dark side. It added an element of pitty to his story. My issue with Kylo in the first one was that he got bested by a total rook. Snoke actually brought this up as a dig against him though in this one.
I'm also torn on his motivations at the end here. Part of me thinks he could have been planning the whole thing to kill Snope and try and lure Rey into his fold. Part of me thinks he realized in that moment it was advantageous of him to Kill Snoke while he was reveling in his Hubris.

No I mean I would've thought they'd cast an under 25 actor to do "Yung Han Solo".
28 year old man who looks 30+ doesn't feel Yung Han Solo to me

Apparently his audition was just amazing. The looks can't really be ignored so I have to think he's making up for it with his performance but rumors are saying it's the opposite.
Harrison Ford already played young Han Solo.
A young Han Solo movie is one that has never made any sense.

Have faith in it, lads. Kasdan script, Lord and Miller, and Howard all good. Donald Glover as fucking Lando. Believe.
itll be there to answer most things no one ever wanted to know, like what is han's real name, what was his tragic backstory, how did he get the Falcon, how did he meet chewie, etc.
Darth Maul: Lockdown would be a totally hype book adaptation as a single film that will never happen. Its Maul going undercover in a Chronicles of Riddick'esque prison situation. Make it rated R and let Tarantino write the script.
