Ranking is pretty hard outside of the best and the worst
Empire
A New Hope
Last Jedi
Force Awakens
Rouge One
Returns
Phantom
Revenge
Clones
Notes:
I could see Last Jedi becoming #2 if it holds up after multiple viewings.
I am not a huge fan of Return and really can’t explain why
I think I like Rouge One more than most
ATOC is pretty much unwatchable.
I have recently discovered I have some weird unexplained 90s nostalgia for Phantom Menace.

Not interested in which are best but in terms of worst I think TPM is many, many miles worse than AOTC.
AOTC is the only movie of the saga that I actively hate. I can tolerate TPM and slightly enjoy ROS but I really don't like AOTC.

No fuckin' way. TPM has the podrace and final fight which are miles beyond anything in Clones. I was fucking 8 when i walked out of Clones and said to myself that was absolute crap. I fucking loved everything at 8. That's how bad it is.
Not fond of when I see ROTS high as well. It's almost as bad, so devoid of energy. Assumes we will care about what happens because we're invested in the OT. Makes no effort to actually do that itself.
Saw someone yday put TLJ sixth or seventh and ROTS first. No accounting for taste.

Nostalgia is probably propping up Return of the Jedi over Last Jedi. "Duel of the Fates" just pushes the Phantom Menace over Attack of the Clones.
Yeah same here, The Last Jedi is probably a better movie than Return, but the original trilogy was too huge in my childhood to put any other Star Wars over it
Empire
New Hope
Return of the Jedi
Last Jedi
Rogue One
Force Awakens
Prequel Trilogy who cares, Revenge slightly more watchable than the others

My favorite part of the movie is how Rey's parents were nobodies, breaking from the Skywalker family line was the best thing Riam could've done.

I think I'd put Last Jedi in #2 or #3. Really enjoyed the film and how it defied all my expectations.
The rage on Star Wars fanboys about The Last Jedi has been breathtaking.
And yes, breathtaking. It's like someone told them their dad wasn't perfect and jacked off to hentai.

Loved it, feared I would get the same feeling as with Rogue One and would hate it.
But all in all, the visuals, story, characters, everything just clicked.
There was some dumb stuff and to much Porgs but still a solid 8.5/10.

The thing I don't get about that Angry guy is he is always grinning like a twat. Can't say I have watched one of his videos for more than 30 seconds though.
Saw it yesterday. It's a fine movie. Not earth shatteringly good. Not horribly bad. As a Star Wars movie it stands in the middle or the upper third of franchise stuff.
The "but" that I am hesistant to spill out: The franchise is a mess. Doing the impossible split of trying something new, staying on canon, respecting the original trilogy while mending at least a bridge to the prequels without straight up failing to recognize they ever happened is an impossible ask.
The movie made me reasses the franchise as a whole, seeing the cynical reality of some story choices that mirror the ideas of George Lucas once upon a time in A New Hope, but from which he deviated from as soon as Empire Strikes Back. You know what I mean.
Rey being a "Nobody", her heritage being nothing of importance and the little slave boy in the closing shot reaffirming the new "old" idea: anybody can be hero. The cynic in me echoed the Kennedy's statement "the main line story is always going to be about the Skywalkers". Something to that degree was once said. But this throws that paradigm overboard and instead yells "We gonna give you more Jedis even long after every Skywalker is dead and buried..
And that's fine. Right? There were Jedis before the Skywalkers. The canon movies, videogames, comics, books, cartoon shows, musicals, puppet shows and any other form of monetized media released showed us. So what's the problem?
It all seems so aimless to me now. It seems incoherent. Maybe it's the disillusioned adult talking now. The cynic. I'll keep on opening the wallet and throwing cash into the abyss that is Disney. And they'll keep on luring me into spending more dough. But the spark, the fire I once had for the franchise... it's gone.

By FlutterPuffs Go To PostI dont get fans pissed off at Luke milking a space cow and drinking the milk. After Luke milked it, the alien should've said something guttural and then we get the subtitle, "Ehh, it's a living."
He was a farm boy. He probably has fucked one or two in good measure.
I find the raging man babies having tantrums over this movie because of both their inability to accept change and their constant need for attention, like toddlers needing their dirty asses wiped, to be absolutely hilarious in many ways. But it's also really really sad and a reminder of why I've long disliked this franchise's hardcore fandom.
I've also come to find the cynical factual nitpickers to be almost as insufferable.
You know, the "why doesn't every character make perfect, circumspect and rational decisions in every moment just like I would, and their failure to do so means the writing is bad" types.
And the ones that complain about things like problematic mechanics of magnetic bombs, once again meaning the writing is bad.

Edit: My only gripe is that we likely won't get an explanation for where Snoke came from. I don't care at all about him as a character, but the original trilogy heavily implied that there were no more Sith or Jedi other than those depicted in the movies. How did some random alien get to be not only the head of the Empire but also a Sith master? We don't need a backstory for Rey because she was just the Force awakening in her and was untrained.
By Laboured Go To PostI've also come to find the cynical factual nitpickers to be almost as insufferable.while conveniently forgetting, that there's fucking gravity in those bombers.

Bae (Before Anyone Else):
in no particular order
-The Last Jedi
-The Empire Strikes Back
-A New Hope
-Felicity Jones
Marvel:
-Return of the Jedi
-The Force Awakens
-Rogue One
-Darth Maul
bæ (poop in Danish):
The prequels. I get the use of CGI but it was too clean and boring as opposed to gritty
I really didn't mind the casino parts at all, they were a nice change of pace! It introduced a couple of neat characters and kinda explained and expanded on the state of affairs quite a bit, no? also that cool ending!
Kylo went from Jar Jar Binks tier to maybe my absolute favourite, lol. He almost makes TOO much sense at times. You have my red lightsaber, Supreme Leader.

my fear is that disney will see the reaction to this movie and decide to never hire another unknown director to film Star Wars or give them creative control.
Nah. Disney loves Rian. They already gave him his own trilogy. The only thing they care about is how many billions is generates.
Rian is the best move Disney made.
saddened JJ is doing ep.9
but at least we get a whole trilogy arc from Rian! :D

I haven't read any of the criticism of this movie. I enjoyed the movie, and I'm happy not knowing what anyone is complaining about.
By Randolph Freelander Go To PostI haven't read any of the criticism of this movie. I enjoyed the movie, and I'm happy not knowing what anyone is complaining about. They're complaining about EVERYTHING. They're even criticizing stuff that is present in previous films, including the original trilogy. There's a lot of crazy blind hate going on.
They can't even get basic facts right of the originals and claim they are arguing from a position of authority. It's insane lol
By Randolph Freelander Go To PostI haven't read any of the criticism of this movie. I enjoyed the movie, and I'm happy not knowing what anyone is complaining about.everything; the humor, the characters, the music, the pacing, the actions, the message, no lightsabers, too much actions, too little action, etc.
Did they also complain that Hamill delivered a good acting performance as Luke finally? Did that go against the Star Wars they love?
By Randolph Freelander Go To PostI wonder if it would help if IX went back to Naboo and enlisted the help of Jar Jar Jr.only so they can blow up the First Order's newest sphere shaped weapon
