It wasn't an eternity tho, they kept saying how long they had. 18 hours, 6 hours were the ones I remember. Felt like Mad Max in that regard, chase film.
We've currently evacuated our office due to the smell of gas in the building. I've talked to a few people outside and the opinions are mixed to leaning on the positive side.
Edit:
The fire department cleared the premises, the smell is come from down the road. Back to work for a few hours and then off to a work holiday party.

Great stuff
Even in the old Star Wars Expanded Universe, it's all Skywalker centric. Their kids in that became great Jedis and Sith, because that's what we wanted, a follow-up that still upholds the structure from the old trilogy. Our heroes must have happy endings. They must be glorified versions of who they were after the war.
What the movie did though, was metaphorically threw everything into the ocean.
Loved that Luke criticised the Jedis to be full of hubris; how else would they be after calling themselves peacekeepers, and ONLY deciding to butt in after things has started to go to shit during the prequels? How could they have let a sith slowly take control of the senate? How could they decide that the best way to be a jedi is to let go of all feelings. To deny themselves the feelings of anger, hate, and love, when these are all a part of life itself? They were worried that their ability to use the Force was diminishing, and hid it in fear that their enemies might take advantage of it.
The movie answered the questions a lot of fans have about the series. It treats the characters by giving them a little humanity, and gave the lore a little room to breathe than focusing everything on the skywalker family.
So glad Rian Johnson is now handling the story for the next trilogy.
Yeah, prior to seeing TLJ I was thinking about how incredibly lineage based the Jedi thing had become and how that was becoming a very annoying trend that was caused by fans needing to link the cause and lore of everything to everything else.
I like how Luke in particular became so critical of what being Jedi actually means and what it should prescriptively entail. If I didn't know better that felt like it was a direct poke in the eye for the uber-fans out there, who I would argue are at least partially responsible for the cinematic AIDS that is the prequel trilogy.

I get it that there are people who dislike what they did to the old characters. I can accept and understand the differing opinions even though they're wrong and for fuck's sake, were Han and Luke your dads? Is this why it hurt you that they are suffering? Do you realise that while criticising Rey to be a Mary Sue you are also ACTIVELY criticising the movie for not making Luke one?
The most I can't stand are people who claim that the movie is disney-fied and full of Marvel-esque humor. What fucking rock have you been hiding under? Do you realise that those jokes don't originate from Marvel films? Do you understand that what the movie did was just modernized the humor in Star Wars rather than going for slapstick actions and witty dialogue that were already dated in the 80s?

Some people just cant accept that they are moving forward with the series in an exciting and bold direction.
Im glad it pisses people, i am confident in time the mammoth task that was this film will be appreciated so much more, maybe it will take years but it is a phenomenal achievement.
I think I enjoyed it. I left my switch in the theater and it got stolen so that certainly put a damper on my mood post movie.
Currently writing a 1000+ word review about why this film is so important in 2017 the year of our lord jesus christ

By Grizzled Cola Go To PostI guarantee in a year this will be lovedYep!
It's not like ESB was that well liked when it first came out too. A few hated the twist, and how the fate of Han Solo was left ambiguous.
By reilo Go To PostI'll need to see it again ASAP cause my seats weren't great. Rian tha GOATSaw it at Studio Movie Grill.
Sat on recliners. I dont think i can go back to regular seats.
I think the thing about the movie is that fact that it took years of pent up nerd drama/theories/fanfics about the backstories of Snoke and Ray and killed Snoke and reveled that Rays parents were nobodies that just traded her away (although I guess this could still change). I haven't really checked out the response to the movie but I bet the manchildren are super whiny about that stuff. On and "killing off" Luke probably upset em even though he is gonna force ghost it up the whole third movie
JJ most likely had something planned for that, but Rian used a magic trick to make that a more sensible solution to that plotline.

Oh you don't even know. They're furious and it's delightful.
They've spent years investing in back story and lore and Rian just told them all to fuck off in a very lavish and entertaining way.

Excellent.
The big reveal of Luke projecting himself, I think that was the most spine tingling moment I’ve ever experienced in the cinema.

Hilarious when they try to blame everything for why they hate the movie.

It’s just great to see that the people at Lucasfilm are aware of all this fan fiction lore shit and are willing to set it all on fire.

I need validation for the joy i feel inside.
ITS COMING PAPI
By Freewheelin Go To PostIt was just stunning seeing every character do things that made sense. So you're saying that when Vice Admiral Holdo decided to stay behind because "someone had to pilot the ship"', like the autopilot wouldn't have sufficed, you thought "that's absolutely brilliant"? Of course, it ends up being a good thing for the rebels, but come on m8. COME ON.
Rian is a legend
Thanks n8, I'll read it over the weekend.

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostWell made film but some serious flaws exist at this point. Some really poor decisions. At least it was a big step up from the first.
Not so hopeful with Abrams taking on the last one, but I'm really looking forward to the new trilogy by Johnson.
