By No Love Go To PostLet me help a brother out:
Finally got the seats I wanted. Recaro Sportster CS! I've been wanting them since my E39 M5 days.
I'll say that Audi knows how to make a pretty car
This is my favorite exec express EV looks wise for sure

Lots of people deem Audis to look "boring" upon reveal but their cars age better than any other brand out there.
All of those brand that did the "future sharp lines" look have aged piss-poorly. I think Mazda and Jaguar are the only other ones that age as well.
Mercedes and BMW will age like spilled milk in 90 degree weather.

By Kibner Go To PostI wish I could collect Porsches. In time my dude in time....
This chip shortage is really hitting manufacturers hard. Every single one of them is either reducing hours or laying off workers.
Treads are wearing thin on the front tires, so looks like I will be getting new ones soon. Need to look up which ones I had picked out earlier. I think it was a Michelin Sport of some kind.
Ok, I got an estimate from the dealership for replacing all four of my tires with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S: $1,730 for the installation and $230 for alignment. Is this a rip-off? I am not experienced enough with these high-end cars to know.
I looked up the tires on Michelin's site and the MSRP on them would come out to $1,222 though the lowest price I could find from local stores was $1,238. This would mean either $508 for the installation ($127 per tire) or $492/$123. I assume that also includes fees and what not, but I am not certain.

That's a bit more than I paid in SF. I think I paid $1600 or less for tires and install. Maybe it was even $1400 but I'd have to dig through my CC statement.
Reason 12,182 why Audis are TRASH:
Dad's brand new 2021 Audi A6 3.0T had a total engine failure today. 900 miles on the car. Shut down on a busy NYC highway.

He's safe at least? Horrible thing to happen :(
Yeah, he pulled it off the highway. Audi Roadside took 2 hours to respond...and when they did they canceled the tow because the car died in a restricted area of the highway (very minimal shoulder area) and they had to call 911. So fucking dumb. They were on the side of the road for 3 hours. Fortunately, I called my brother and he lives close and kept them company and drove them home.
Anyone here daily drive their cars with lightweight wheels?
I'm about to pull the trigger on Enkei TFR's for my GTI but I'm hearing some baaaad stories about bent wheels from it's cousin, the RPF1's, so I'm now second guessing everything. 🙃
I bring up the RPF1's coz the TFR's are apparently made with the same process as the RPF1's so I'm kinda concerned. More so since I'll be running the stock specs(18x8) and they weigh about 19lbs a piece.
Damn that's some terrible luck getting stranded in that area. :(
Would love it if you can keep us updated on wtf happened coz engine failure at 900 miles is absolutely crazy.

Yeah, I'll update once we know more. I'll be in NY in 2 days, so I'll check the car out at the dealer
can somebody recommend me some tires? accord coupe. the default ones are producing some horrible road noise when highway driving.

If you're not about that Michelin Pilot Sports life I'd recommend the General G-Max AS05: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=G-MAX+AS-05
That's what I have on my GTI right now and it's a great tire. It handles great on dry and wet roads and is pretty quiet. It's also very affordable. I'm actually about to replace my rear tires soon(which is why I'm shopping for new rims too lol) and Discount Tire quoted me $250 for the rears.
I'd also recommend the Cooper Zeon RS3-G1(https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Cooper&tireModel=Zeon+RS3-G1)... I had them on my Miata and they're supposedly a little bit better and more quiet than the AS05 but they're also a bit more expensive IIRC.
I personally went with the AS05 coz road noise wouldn't have mattered anyway coz my exhaust is kinda loud. 😂
By Smokey Go To Postsomebody pls
All depends on your budget. The options are limitless.
Michelin Pilot Sport are the best there is. But they're expensive. Continentals are great too.
Also, all season or summer only? It can get brisk in Houston, so we need specifics.

By LunaticNotFounder Go To PostIs the cabin noise in Japanese cars still terrible? I haven't been in one in ages.
am i confusing cabin noise with road noise? are they both the same? whatever it is, is horrible atm for me

Pilot Sports and my Accord Coupe don't feel right mane. On my old BMW (rip), yessir, had them and loved them, but I'd feel weird putting them on this lol

The fuck...that'll be some shit. Be careful wearing Rockets shit out there. Those wounds are still fresh for most of us.

Yeah, whichever is the current one these days.
Alright, sooo....my dad's Audi was an absolutely fucking RIDICULOUS issue for a car in 2021....The car ran out of gas.
Was my dad that careless?? Nope. The fuel sending unit was dead and stopped reporting mileage to the dash, so all my dad saw was half a tank with 200 miles range. He actually noted to himself 'wow, I've driven over 300 miles on this tank" and was shocked at the MPGs lmao. He should've trusted his instincts.
So the sending unit died, never triggered a gas light, either. Apparently, some other electrical components went bad too.
Audi, you crazy for this one.

Euro cars and bad sensors. Nothing uncommon there. The sensor for my AC unit went out in my Audi just before covid lockdown so I was without AC for 5 months in 90 degree caribbean weather. I guess not really being able to leave home much eased the blow.

What the fu. How the hell does something like that even fail in this year and at that age? Did they get a sensor from Lucas? Or maybe the car was built at 4PM on a Friday?

As someone who lives in a landlocked part of Texas, I can't tell if this is a brag or if I'm supposed to feel sorry lol.
By jongkookie Go To PostAs someone who lives in a landlocked part of Texas, I can't tell if this is a brag or if I'm supposed to feel sorry lol.The humidity is oppressive bredrin. When you have to wear full work formal shirt, pants and tie to where I used to work it was a issue for a bit. The 100m walk from the parking lot to work was hellish. So glad I moved jobs and now have my own parking space underground next to the entrance.

I actually lived in the Philippines for about a decade so I know how it feels. Up here in Texas, I rarely get the urge to take a shower every 5 minutes if I step outside during the heat and humidity, but when I'm in the Philippines the urge is there the moment I step off the plane lol.
Something about the tropical heat and humidity feels more oppressive than the Texas heat and Mexican gulf humidity.
Another update, when I landed in NYC, the Audi was ready to be picked up. The sending unit in the fuel pump was working correctly. Somehow these new mild-hybrid 48V systems have a connection of screwing up the info displayed to the driver. So it was actually the 48V mild-hybrid system that failed entirely and was replaced. Pretty crazy.
It also happened precisely as the car hit 1000 miles. Not even exaggerating.

Been driving this Estoril Blue 430i GC all weekend:
Pretty fun car even in 430i + 8-speed auto spec. Maybe it's coz I've been desensitized by being able to drive fancier cars than this but for the most part this just feels like my GTI... the biggest difference is that it's obviously RWD so it's easier to push out of corners. Paddle driving is also shockingly fun but even auto is pretty decent... just push the pedal slightly harder and it's smart enough to kick down a gear or two to give you passing power. Pulling the paddle to do that feels cooler tho lol.
My biggest complaint is the interior really. CarPlay only takes up 3/4's of the huge center screen, there's no dedicated rewind/skip buttons on the steering wheel(you gotta move the dial on the right up/down then press the dial to rewind/skip a song which is dumb as hell) and shockingly the cabin feels a lot smaller than my GTI. I dunno if it physically is smaller, but it feels smaller to me... to use some jeans analogy, the 430i feels like skinny jeans vs the GTI's regular fit.
Overall it's pretty fun. Love the color, driving dynamics and if I can find an EB 3/4/5 series with a stick I definitely would hop on it immediately, even if it means I'd be twinning with my sister(this is actually her car lol).
