By Smokey Go To PostWait what? There's now a M4 sedan? Or is that the GC?No, M3 Touring, a station wagon:
But it uses M4 styling, which we know the M3 won't. It's confusing.
Driving stick is still fun and something I look forward to. The gf wants to go somewhere real quick? Yeah, sure, I'll drive ya!
Kib and I buy a new car every 5 years or so.
Although we got some high-rollers in here that make the two of us blush.

I bought a completely new vehicle in 2001, 2012, and 2017. This latest one is already paid off, but I hope to also drive it maybe 10 more years, if possible. The impulse to buy my last two vehicles hit sort of suddenly, but was related to gas mileage, especially this latest one (it's a Kia Niro, a hybrid). The next car would at least have to well exceed the mileage I'm currently getting, provided the current car doesn't go to shit.
I had to write ad copy for the new 4 series this week.
I specifically avoided saying anything about it’s looks, mentioning price and performance instead. 😂😂😂

By Pac-12 Go To PostAm I to understand that in this thread, for reilo and Kibner specifically, money ain't a thang?Over the last 20 years, I have had a 95 F-150 whose engine died, a 2008 Civic that I lost in a flood and replaced with a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, that I then (eventually) replaced with a 2019 Porsche Cayman. The Sonata was still working perfectly fine at 125k miles, but a family member needed a vehicle to get to work so I sold it to them for cheap. I have put on at least 100k miles on every vehicle prior to the Cayman. I may not put that many on the Porsche because I have recently moved to an area that doesn't require as much driving and I no longer commute to work.
And for the record, I have no idea when the thread title originated, but the obvious-to-me reference is your boy Jermaine Dupri with his sidekick (scrub) Jay-Z in this track right here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkRBPpxD7l8
M3 is getting some paint work done this weekend and then I'll be doing the sunroof delete and E85 tune. Should really wake the car up.
Thinking about selling the 335i and buying my old Imola E39 M5 back since it's still in my family. I know Alpha has but has anyone else bought a car back after they sold it?

I can definitely understand why someone would feel like they should, though.

Not necessarily the same exact car but I'm really thinking about picking up another NC Miata at the end of the year. NA/NB would be great too but idek if my fatass can fit in there. 😂
My current plan right now is to get the Miata at the end of the year, then summer 2021 when we finally get the 8th generation Golf GTI, I'll take a look at that and see if it's worth upgrading. If it is, then I'll sell my 7th gen GTI for that then keep the Miata. But if upgrading is not worth it, I'll sell the Miata and pick up a 996 911 or a 986/987 Boxster/Cayman which is where I ultimately want to end up in. Personally I'm hoping for the latter so I can get the Porsche quicker, but I also wouldn't mind waiting if the 8th gen GTI is really worth it.

Just skip straight to the Cayman S. 👍
Btw the new Nissan 400z/whatever is gonna be shown on September 15th. I don't know why I'm excited considering Nissan sucks but the 370z has needed to be put out to pasture for the last 5+ years so it's a welcome change.

LOL yep, you hit it on the nose! I changed it a few weeks ago to that.
The S-Class interior in a nutshell: Lazy.
Why spend any time on aesthetics? Why design anything to be remotely attractive? Why craft? Why do anything when 2 slabs of screens will do the job. Absolutely NO effort went into making the interior of this car.
This is laziness to a whole new level. Like announcing a new $100,000 Audemars and making it a digital watch. Entirely defeats the point.
I blame Tesla.

I actually don't understand why luxury brands are switching to screens besides the cost.
I've read tons and tons of customer surveys say the same exact thing: "I'm really happy your salespeople took the time to explain how our new car works because these screens are really confusing."
There's also tons of comments about certain car manufacturers burying the goddamn AC controls in the screens(*cough*Volvo*cough*).
And on a similar note to what you said, for a loooooong time luxury has been equated to something mechanical or something that feels handmade/ expensive. I'll never understand why it shifted to screens and all that bullshit.
Give me a Pepsi Blue GMT and I'll wear that all the way to my grave rather than a Apple Watch Series 69 or whatever the fuck lol.
Would love to for sure. The plan I laid out tho is the most realistic one I can do unless I somehow stumble upon a mountain of cash lol.

Aston Martin’s Q division should be taken very seriously. It just turned out this stunning one-off custom model named the Aston Martin Victor. The Victor is based on a One-77, and it’s the biggest project Q has ever taken on.
Under the sculpted hood sits a 7.3-liter V12. It’s also from a One-77, but it’s been heavily breathed upon by Cosworth. Output is bumped up to 836 horsepower and 606 pound-feet of torque, increases of 86 and 53 respectively. And then there’s the transmission. Aston converted it to a genuine three-pedal six-speed manual.
That is a very attractive car. Although the hood being so long and far in front would fuck with me if I ever got a chance to drive it (lol).
Fuck me....that looks insane.
Also, these 'conversions' of single clutch automated crapboxes are going to become more and more popular in the years to come. In fact, even Porsche is getting in on the conversion craze.
The manual in the 992 Porsche 911 is actually the PDK with a stick and one clutch delete. Porsche had to re-design the way their shifters, linkage, and fulcrum works because of the design of all DCTs: odd gears and even gears are separated into two separate banks of the gearbox, essentially - as opposed to being sequential like a traditional manual. So they took the PDK, stripped a few components out, replaced it with a clever shifter that pivots and selects the correct gear when you move in the traditional H-pattern. Absolutely awesome bit of engineering. It's called the "mechanically converted shift actuator."
Image A is how a PDK/DCT is laid out. Image B is how the shifter in a manual 992 operates when you're actually using it (and also how a traditional manual is laid out).

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostI usually love the look of Astons, but that looks nasty.
I thought it was a new Dodge Viper
Agreed.
It looks hideous.
Any tips for a first timer going to a HPDE? I'm debating buying tow hooks for insurance but I'm on the fence.

The best read: worst part about it is this:
I spent considerable time fixing my own panel gaps after Tesla refused. This was under the cowling in the frunk.Tesla owners: "It's just so funny!"
Is it a big deal that Tesla used faux wood trim during assembly of my vehicle? No. Is it funny? Yes, yes it is!
I’d probably think it was funnier had I not had to spend 10 + hours disassembling and reassembling my vehicle to correct the gaps and alignment.
By Kibner Go To PostWould you have it any other way?Wait is it?
By reilo Go To PostJust saw that.
Baby F-Type is almost here!
If the 400z is $35-40k, I think it will be very successful.
this looks insane never heard of this car
that guy is actually in houston, i've randomly seen him around in his cars
It sounds... so awful. It has to be those new particulate filters, right? But I don't think North American versions have it. I've seen Euro owners replace their exhaust outright and the filter still fucks with the exhaust tone something awful.
i watched their previous video where they went hard on the regular 718 and the transmission. early in this one same complaints, but it shines on a track.
why is 2nd gear so long?

By Smokey Go To Posti watched their previous video where they went hard on the regular 718 and the transmission. early in this one same complaints, but it shines on a track. At least on my base 718, 2nd gear lets me get up to ~55-60 mph before redlining, iirc. Maybe they just made it so that it tops out at typical road legal speed limits? I dunno.
why is 2nd gear so long?
e: first gear tops out at ~40. I don't push the car to red-line too often so I don't remember the exact numbers.
