it seems like the SCV12 is not the final swan song for the Aventador as a new variant has been spotted.
By reilo Go To PostWent to move my car (fuck street cleaning) and as I was moving it to the other side a black F-Type convertible drove by and pulled into their garage. I have been parked literally feet from it but never noticed cause it was inside the entire time. Pretty certain it's the same house that has a pristine E39 M5 as well.Your neighbors have some serious class. Befriend them!
By Lunatic Go To PostMy family does not me specifically. What's the question? Is there any advantage or disadvantage for leaving a boat in its berth or is it better in the long run for it to be out of the water and in my driveway/garage? Or is there no difference at all?
Do you know much about it ?
By FootbalIFan Go To PostIs there any advantage or disadvantage for leaving a boat in its berth or is it better in the long run for it to be out of the water and in my driveway/garage? Or is there no difference at all?Out of the water is always better but you can keep it in the berth depending on the type of drive; if you have a boat lift that is better. But it really depends on the type of drive (stern, v-drive, pod, outboard). V-drives and Outboards allow you to keep it in the water all year with minimal maintenance. You will definitely also want to flush out the engines after each use if possible especially in salt water. The engines also should be run regularly or else you will run into maintenance issues from it just sitting around.

I've been running boats my whole life so you can ask me anything really. My experience is mostly with outboards (single to quad) on deep v and cat hull types.

Cost. It’s cheaper to store out of water. On top of slip costs, you have to pay someone to clean the bottom of your boat. So it adds to an already higher storage fee.
Then as lunatic said, you get more wear and tear on a boat that’s stored in water. Salt sucks. Which is why he said an outboard is good. You can lift the whole drive out of the water and a V-drive is only the prop and shaft.
All in all, IMO, you only store in the water if you’re planning on using it a lot. Because really, the only downside to storing out of water is the hassle of putting the boat back in.
^Thats beautiful m8

BMW confirmed the two-door variants of the M8 will not return to the American market for the 2021 model year, leaving the four-door Gran Coupe as the only version available. Whether either body style will come back for 2022 is unclear.sigh
BMW quietly announced the two-door M8's demise by leaving it out of its 2021 model updates.

Article is poorly worded. The coupe IS returning for 2022. Dealers and ports have a backlog of 2020 coupes they can't sell and expect inventory to last well into 2021, at which point a 2022 model will be introduced for sale. You can still get coupes of the 840 and 850 for 2021, which are on sale now. M8 Coupes also have terrible lease programs, and 60% of BMWs are leased in the US.
Also, the 8-series is overpriced, including the M8.

Why is the 8 series overpriced?
Can confirm about the backlog of cars BMW has at ports. Last I checked, we're just now getting our cars that should've been here in May/June.
I honestly dunno what the problem is with the 8 series. There's an 8-series here in DFW that's been punted around to various BMW dealers in the area coz nobody wants it... and this was getting punted around before the virus hit.

The M8 is $133K before options. Most go for about $145K. I'll focus on that car, seeing as how it's the one they can't move well.
For that money, you're at proper sports car money. Porsche 911 GT3, Mercedes-AMG GTC, Aston Martin Vantage, Acura NSX, or even a 1 year old Audi R8 V10 RWS.
Even if you step down to the M850i you face competition from cars such as Porsche 911 GTS, Mercedes-AMG GT, Jaguar F-Type SVR. And again, you can look at a 1 year old car and get something better and exotic. The M8 becomes a hard sell if you're cross-shopping even a little bit.

Gonna spend this weekend and next few weeks learning to double clutch on downshifts. My normal downshifts have gotten smooth except when I have to drop my gearing by two or three gears in order to get into a great powerband to accelerate after the car in front of me turns off the road.
You wouldn't need to double clutch for that, Kibs. You just need to rev-match better. If you need to go from 5th to 3rd, check how much your RPMs jump in that shift (I'd imagine it'll jump about 2000-2500RPM) and blip roughly that amount when you make the shift.
By AlphaSnacks Go To PostLowered the car on Monday. It looks sexy as fuck with the drop now. That front wheel gap…ooofThat looks perfect. Alpha always bringing the class.

Incredible thats how much it is, what kind human would choose an 8 series over any of those cars.
Holy crud, speak of the devil...
Speaking of the devil, did you guys see this bit on Jalopnik about the Lovecraft Country hero car?

I put in a "order" with my local dealership. They told me every dealership is only getting one allocation... My build would get reviewed by the GM before getting sent in. Apparently I'm the 3rd or 4th person to reach out about it. They also told me the ETA is November, and the kicker, there's a $20k markup!, to which I said, we'll see what happens with that.
the horrible texas toll tag ruins the pic 2/10

I drove my friend's 911 991.1 Turbo yesterday. The car is something else. I'm not a huge fan of turbochargers after my experience with the Mazdaspeed6, but obviously this is in a completely different universe. No turbolag, visceral as all hell, and the mechanical grip and AWD just smacks the back of your head like nothing else off the line.
My F-Type is insanely fast but off the line the Turbo just melts your brain cells. In the different Sport and Sport+ modes it just drives closer to a gokart than the grand tourer feel of my F-Type. The Jaguar has great driving dynamics (I prefer my steering and steering wheel, for example), but the 911 Turbo just has that "this setting is meant for smooth track pavement so pay attention to the bruising on your kidneys" feeling edge.
Also, given the layout of it, it's quite roomy but feels smaller and less beefy than a traditional FR layout, but the downside to the 911 Turbo with the engine behind you is that you lose some of that glorious engine noise. My buddy's also had an upgraded exhaust but as far as auditory experience the F-Type wins hands down, whereas if you want a car that can turn into an aggressive driver the 911 has that slight edge. It was not a stock-to-stock comparison as the 911 also was slightly lowered so that might have made the drive firmer.

Jealous!
There is some turbo lag on my Cayman, but if you stay in the upper half of the rpm range you don't really experience it. At least I haven't.

By reilo Go To PostIs yours a bi-turbo setup or single turbo?I think it is only single turbo.
I narrowly avoided a reckless pickup truck yesterday as it decided last second to pass me inside a single lane overpass merge lane that had no shoulders. The guy was driving behind me just fine as we were both merging onto I5 North and then he speeds up and passes me and narrowly I avoid him hitting me cause I just reacted and veered left while braking. By my judgment he was within the length of my rearview mirror by my front bumper. The guy kept speeding and doing the same shit to others.
It was as if he was running away from cops or extreme mental disorder road rage.

Some people are reckless and have no care for others on the road. Most of us are just trying to get from point a to point be without incident.
Too many fucking idiots on the roads these days. Farmer wanting me to drive into a ditch so he can pass on a single-track road, despite him having gravel and grass on his side. Glad HS2 took your land you fucking prick.

Agreed lol.
Why do we even have this shit? Back when I got my GTI I had fat fingers or something and put the wrong number to the tag and even with the wrong number they still managed to charge me the discounted toll price. It took them like 3 months to notice and notify me that the numbers were wrong and I managed to rack up $10 bucks of non-toll pricing in those 3 months. 🤷🏽♂️

Why does the TollTag have to be mounted on the windshield?
The TollTag operates on a radio frequency and is best read from the windshield’s glass surface. Some vehicles have metallic windshields that can interfere with the electronic signal. In those cases, a customer may request a special TollTag to affix to their vehicle’s license plate.
