Listened to a podcast about the C8 Corvette and it was commented that it looks like a car Maguire's commissioned to put on their label but didn't want to pay the license of a real car so it didn't actually look like a real car and now I cannot unsee it.
By AlphaSnacks Go To PostSome of the best BMWs to own are the worst or most expensive to maintain. But the E39 is easily the best M5 and it's one of the most reliable BMWs ever. Certainly the most reliable M car. Maybe the 1M is about on par with it, but it has more KNOWN failure issues, they're just less expensive because it's the same engine that's in all their 35s.
I said it.
E31 850CSi
E31 850i/Ci
E60 M5
E63 M6
E90 M3
E92 M3
E46 M3
I think the rod bearing issue on the E90/92 is a bit overblown. But, even if it does pop up, it's an easy enough fix.
E31s are great to look at, but the driving experience is really muted. It's an okay GT car, sounds decent with a proper exhaust setup, but even then.
We have a E90 M3 on sale with about 100k miles on the odo... due to work perks I can get it at dealer cost so it's a freakin' huge discount.
I'm super tempted but I'm also not stupid lol.
I talked to our pre-owned manager about it and he's like "If you still want to be stupid, you know where to find me." 😂 😂 😂

Get a local known shop to do a PPI, find out how soon you might need to do an engine rebuild. It's not stupid if the rebuild + price of car is lower than a low mileage option.
No idea how much a rebuild service is on the S65, but I was quoted around $4-5k for my S62, and that's from the place with fairly high labor rates :)

The Mazda3 Turbo is here, and while it’s no Mazdaspeed, this is still a happy day for enthusiasts. Its full, official name is the 2021 Mazda3 2.5 Turbo, which begins to describe it perfectly. Just as was expected, Mazda has taken its 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder off its shelf and plopped it into the compact 3.
When run on 93 octane fuel, Mazda claims 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque.
The Turbo is also paired exclusively with all-wheel drive and the six-speed automatic transmission.Would've legit considered this as a second vehicle if it came with a manual. Oh well.

The interior of E39s get destroyed. Headliners sag and especially the pixels on the dash and console, it really drives me nuts. But I do recall there being some common engine faults too? Nonetheless, great car, but the E60 holds the crown for me simply due to that jewel V10,

Yeah, the parts for the rod bearings are cheap. They range from $500-$800 for OEM or upgraded lifetime parts that are guaranteed to not wear. Labor is about 8-10 hours. I've seen shops charge about $1500 in labor. The guy from WatchJRGo on YouTube just had his M6 done on the V10 S85 engine for $3.4K all in. That parts cost includes the bearings + the kit, filter, and oil.
By jongkookie Go To PostSo work just let me drive this today…As much as I like my Porsche, I don't recognize their models by sight. Which is this one?
*snip*
Absolutely ridiculous is pretty much all I can say about it.
Yup.
Just your standard Taycan Turbo.
This might be a good thing, I've heard some Porsche peeps want the Taycan to kinda blend in with their lineup lol. Their reasoning is that the more it blends, the more people will accept an electric Porsche. 🤷🏽♂️

I bought some wheels for my M3. :)
Avant Garde M359, they are perfect E92 Competition style 359 replicas (thus why they're called M359). These are my favorite wheels on E92 M3s by far. They even got the little square-ish cutout for the M logo to go below the center cap (OEM BMW center cap fits there too).
They are 19x9 and 19x10, half an inch wider front and back. And offset is a little more aggressive up front by 11mm. It should sit extremely well.

CSL style wheels are the best thing BMW has designed. I love them. Great choice and exactly what I wanted to do with my M3.
I'm gonna say that's not his car but that still doesn't even excuse it. How are you over the age of 12 and don't know Tesla

All these videos are fake as fuck. If you know how to operate and "start" a Tesla, you know it's an electric car.
He's wearing a Tesla hat, for God's sake.
Well, that's one way to market a family SUV. Styling on the production model still makes me do Andy Rooney face though
The industry needs to lead as opposed to follow what the masses want. Manufacturers like BMW are churning out endless crap right now as result of that.

BMW is definitely leading the charge with that hideous grille in the 4 series. We'll see how that plays out for them.
Also, ideally yes the industry shouldn't listen to the people, but that only really works if you've got the luxury to get away with it.
In order for that to work, they basically have to be like Porsche... have a bunch of cars to make money(SUV's and the special edition 911s/Caymans/etc) and in turn they're able to keep their existing customer base(enthusiasts) while also gaining new ones.
On the opposite spectrum, you have manufacturers like BMW and Jaguar who are completely reliant on their prestige. BMW's combo of prestige and the name being a status symbol is bringing in a ton of customers but they're also beholden to what those people want, hence why they've practically abandoned their enthusiast customer base. Jaguar on the other hand only has prestige in their favor and I'm fairly certain they're only alive right now coz Land Rover is somehow selling like gangbusters... but it also wouldn't surprise me to see JLR merge with Geely/Volvo soon. IIRC there were talks about it last year but nothing materialized, but with COVID fucking everything up, it's probably back in the cards.
Ugh tell me about it lol.
Our BMW GM asked me last week if I could plan a marketing campaign for the 2 Series Gran Coupe and I've been avoiding him all week.
🤣🤣🤣

Saw those on ig, they look fuckin great man.
That, juxtaposed with the talk above, just makes me feel that much more sad for how awful BMW has become. There's literally nothing they make that I would happily drive right now.

E46 M3 and E90 M3 are both really reliable, E46 M3 is pretty much bulletproof as long as you do the required maintenance.
E39 M5 is definitely the highest quality M car ever built, the fit and finish is awesome especially with extended leather.

Will the 8 series depreciate as quick as the 6? That was something that really bugged me out about the M6
Every BMW will depreciate by 50% within 3 years, guaranteed.
Go take a look at 335i prices from 2015 and now.

Probably. All of these top end cards from the luxury brands depreciate heavy.
But that M8 GC looks raw af. The legacy of the 6 series lives on.
Idk how you have something like that, but then end up with the 4 ;_;
Speaking of M8. My brother just picked up his GC Competition 3 days ago. Looks pretty wild. He got a Frozen color.
what does your bro do. he always seemed to have a new whip

He doesn't switch out as often as I do. He had his M6 for 8 years, and shockingly nothing ever failed on it considering it was a first year production car with twin turbos and all. And he's had his Performante for over 2 years, approaching 3 now?

or go full Radwood and rock a mint 850
Seems like insanity to spend good money on a car that old, but these don't depreciate. You could drop $20k in maintenance and still be off better than if you were to buy a new luxo barge. I've put about 8k so far into my M5 (most of that was a full suspension refresh and upgrade), but I could sell it for 10k more than I bought it for in a week. You'd also have something more engaging to drive, too. Gonna plug EAG: http://www.enthusiastauto.com/
One of their mint E39s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9XalOgX_YA
Those 850is are notoriously tricky and difficulty to work on.
But I'll be damned if I wouldn't want to try. It looks so fucking gorgeous to this day.

The V12 in there can sound quite nice too, but the popular thing to do is an S62 swap with manual in an 840. That solves most of the reliability issues, and is a fairly common procedure. And again, it's one of those investments where you actually get your money out of it.
Yea that's probably a good swap. The larger displacement of it definitely helps bring the torque up as opposed to the smaller S65. Although I imagine a S65 with a proper exhaust would sound heavenly in that car, too.
Went to move my car (fuck street cleaning) and as I was moving it to the other side a black F-Type convertible drove by and pulled into their garage. I have been parked literally feet from it but never noticed cause it was inside the entire time. Pretty certain it's the same house that has a pristine E39 M5 as well.
