Volkswagen was allegedly considering stuffing a five-cylinder into the upcoming Golf R. Indeed, there have been reports the automaker testing out five-cylinder motors, but it doesn’t seem like anything of the sort will make an appearance in its new car.
Audi supposedly straight-up refused the idea, reports Dutch outlet Autovisie, which wrote, “Volkswagen asked Audi if it could use its 2.5-liter five-cylinder petrol engine from the TT RS, RS3 and RSQ3, among others, for its most potent Golf. Audi did not have to think long about that. According to one of the parties involved, the answer was a resolute no.”
Wow.
Go fuck yourself Audi.

Well I'm not surprised...it would cannibalize sales of Audi's stuff.
Not even gonna lie, the TT-RS is on my list of cars to buy before they disappear.

I'm not... mad at Audi. The 5-cylinder engine has always been special to them. It's like Lamborghini asking for a boxer engine from Porsche.

Sorry to be THAT guy, but Golf's actually had 5-cylinder engines for a while for the US Mk5 and Mk6 Golf/Rabbits. Not sure if the 2.5 made it to other markets, but for a while, it was the base model in the US cars (my mom had one). I've seen people mod these motors with bolt-ons and get some really good gains, not to mention they sounded really good.
I believe it's the same 2.5 that Audi would later take and stuff into the TTRS with a shit ton of mods and power.
Tesla reportedly removing paid-for features after used-car sales
The dealer, United Traders, bought the car directly from Tesla at an auction on November 15, 2019. At the time of that auction sale, the Model S had Enhanced Autopilot and Full Self Driving Capability options installed, which the original owner had paid a combined $8,000 for, as listed on the Monroney that Tesla gave the dealer. On November 18, Tesla ran an audit of the software in its vehicles, including the Model S now owned by the dealership, and removed Enhanced Autopilot. The automaker did not inform the dealer of the changes to the Model S, so the dealer sold the sedan to Alec on December 20 believing the car contained what was on the Monroney.https://www.autoblog.com/2020/03/23/tesla-removing-content-from-used-cars/
Alec didn't find out about the removal until January 17, on an invoice he received from a Tesla Service Center after taking the Model S in for repairs. The invoice showed that FSD was removed during a December software update because FSD requires the Autopilot software that Tesla deleted on November 18. When Alec contacted Tesla customer support, the representative told him, "Tesla has recently identified instances of customers being incorrectly configured for Autopilot versions that they did not pay for. Since, there was an audit done to correct these instances. Your vehicle is one of the vehicles that was incorrectly configured for Autopilot. We looked back at your purchase history and unfortunately Full Self Driving was not a feature that you had paid for. We apologize for the confusion. If you are still interested in having those additional features we can begin the process to purchase the upgrade."
Does y'all's lockdown prevent you from even just driving around? I was getting a bit of cabin fever so I cruised around my area for almost two hours, just exploring.
I'm considered an essential employee so I'm still at the office 5 days a week.
Half of our staff got furloughed tho and while I'm grateful to still keep my job, it's kinda depressing to be here. =(
It is nice to drive tho, it's one of the only things I can do to keep my sanity and anxiety down... besides Animal Crossing lol.

Oof, I can only imagine what having to go into an office right now is like. I hope you and yours are able to stay safe, jongkookie.

Yeah, we're staying safe as much as possible. Our showrooms are closed and service is open, but activity is cut more than half and most of our customers and employees are older folks so everyone's trying to steer clear as much as possible. My office is located in a back corner that nobody really goes so I'm essentially isolated... I only get out to get coffee/food/sunlight/etc.
Shockingly tho, people are still buying cars. The remaining sales guys are still selling a car or two a day and it's mind boggling.
But yeah, it's surreal coming here. On the week everyone got furloughed, it was ridiculously depressing, felt like the world was about to end and all that. Right now, the mood has marginally gotten better, but that's probably coz we've had time to process it.
In my Jag dealer, 3 people got it. :O
Fortunately, I haven't been there since seeing that Lotus Evija.

Last June, Japan's Best Car magazine laid out what we considered a whopper series of rumors about future Mazda developments. The mag said it had been speaking to a Toyota source on an unrelated matter, and found out that Mazda's work on a straight-six Skyactiv engine was predicated on that engine's use in Toyota Group vehicles, including Lexus models. Car and Driver has apparently consulted its own sources, and in a new report utters many of the same pronouncements as Best Car. The next-generation Mazda6, due around 2022, will molt out of its transverse engines on a front-driver platform, and be the first home for the longitudinally-mounted straight-six on the automaker's new rear-wheel drive "Large Architecture."
The gas-powered Skyactiv-X six-cylinder, a shade under 3 liters of displacement, will get help from a 48-volt hybrid system, and top output could hit 350 horsepower. A second straight-six will come in an oil-burning Skyactiv-D flavor, and PHEVs are certain to eventually factor into the equations.
Everything is okay with this world. Bless you, Mazda, for finally going RWD and straight-6.
I think I do, too. The old headlights especially with the single lens bi-xenon before the 2016 refresh give it a classic 60s vibe that the E-Type and Ferrari F250 GTO are known for.
Why do people mod WRXs to be louder at 2000 RPM driving under 10MPH than my F-Type at full throttle on the freeway wtf
Triple post cause y'all are boring:
Every real world test we have seen of the Taycan has it pushing nearly 300 miles. How the hell is it only rated to 200?

By Kibner Go To PostMaybe that was worst-case testing? Like, in the hottest of deserts or something? That would require the EPA to test all vehicles. They have yet to test any Tesla, for example 😂
Most people don’t know this, but the EPA doesn’t physically test every new car. Instead, manufacturers are given a set of testing parameters that account for a wide variety of conditions, and they use those parameters in their own testing. They then submit the results of those tests to the EPA, which publishes them as official efficiency and range numbers.
Occasionally, the EPA does physically test a car, to confirm an automaker's numbers. The agency tested a Taycan Turbo S and came up with 192 miles of range. Tesla says the newest Model S P100D will go 326 miles. (The EPA, to my understanding, has never physically tested any Tesla.)
The difference in range from C/D's test was just 10 miles, with the Porsche outperforming its EPA estimate by 17 miles, and the Model S falling 104 miles short of its claimed range.https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/a32207936/i-beat-the-porsche-taycan-4ss-epa-range-by-81-miles/
So, take Teslas range with a HUGE grain of salt for the wrong reasons and Porsches for opposite reasons
I don't really have anything to add other than it is still fun as hell to drive my Porsche. It's weird having a car with no weird noises or vibrations or rattling or anything.
Yes, the EPA’s 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S rating of 203 miles was disappointing, but so was the 201-mile rating assigned to the Turbo. But this new 300.5-mile result tells me that my first result of 287 miles was no fluke. It’s time to move past all that this rating hand wringing. EPA range ratings are not equally believable, and Porsche’s Taycan numbers are very conservative. File that under “noted” and take the 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S very seriously.Another test where they got 287 miles the first time, then 300 miles the other. I'm never trusting the EPA mileage numbers again, this is dumb.
To be fair, the road and track article is Matt Farah writing the results of the video he posted, so it's the same source. That said, if it's true the EPA just delivers test specs to companies then expects them to post the results, and hasn't bothered to test Tesla's vehicle themselves when they're barely out of startup... well... that's major league facepalming right there.
I'm just shocked to find out that Tesla is touting these numbers but nobody is calling them out on how seemingly flat out wrong they are. Also shocked to learn that there is no real scientific process to achieve these numbers, which I thought there was. Tesla's biggest selling point over other EVs is their range and they are off by nearly 100 miles.
Seems like a Tesla version of Dieselgate going on with that. I've known the numbers were pretty unrealistic for quite a while now, but then you've got reported range tests from other vendors either coming out pretty accurate (E-Tron and I-Pace) or mortifyingly off in both directions (Tesla and Porsche.)
Real range tests for every Porsche I've seen peg them at around-just under 300 miles and Teslas it's like 250ish, maybe a bit less on the Model 3. My inclination is to give it a "Thanks Trump" with his appointing yes men everywhere and crapping on everything non-American car wise. Don't quite want to go that far yet though.

Do they drive well or is it just the uniqueness that gets rich people buy it.
I know someone from slaent had to have test driven one.

I drove a MB-Maybach S Class a few years ago when I worked for a Benz dealer... do I count?
IIRC it was just a longer and fancier S-Class with a V12. Driving it didn't feel special to me tbh so I assume the special part is when you're being chauffeured around town instead.

yes, the special part is indeed you sitting in the back reclining in a fuking car with not a worry in the world.
if you watch that RR video, you can literally do any customization. if you get a special color created and somebody else wants it, RR has to come to you and ask for permission? some guy has his DNA profile mapped out as an option in the car? Literal diamonds crushed and sprinkled into the paint of the car?
rich people are insane

The only luxury yachts I give 2 shit about are Bentleys, and that's because I'd actually drive one because of how understated they tend to look. Otherwise, Rollies I like seeing, but don't ever care to own or drive one because they're just garish. And then the long wheelbase stuff like a Maybach absolutely bores me.
By jongkookie Go To PostLawwwwwwd jesus…
1300hp between the two… around 1500hp if you add in the Cayenne. 😂
Sadly they wouldn't let me drive either, then again I wouldn't want to drive the CGT anyway…. that already has the Michelin PSS' and apparently it still oversteers like mad.
Saw this on your IG the other day and felt some type of way when you panned over to reveal that CGT.
And in yellow. Bah God.
I honestly think the CGT and LFA are two of the all time greatest supercars ever made, up there with the McLaren F1.
I just heard those two cars start and my god... we all know how modern Porsche's sound so the GT2RS sounded exactly like what I expected(very bassy roar) but the CGT definitely sounds more supercar. There's a lot less bass compared the GT2RS and I'd say it's sorta similar to older F1 engines, only difference is that there's a lot less whine to it.

If I decided to not be such a scared bitch and record my first ever YouTube video, would you be able to edit it for me? Not looking for any crazy production values. Basically Hoovie's Garage or Tavarish level quality.

For sure man. Send me the details and I'll put something together.
