The Aston Martin Vantage is still a car for busters. Just like the V8 Vantage was for over a decade, the current Vantage seriously offers the WORST value proposition in the exotic world.
People buying these are morons. I was given the opportunity to own one at a great price. Went for a test drive, and very little about this car impressed me. What I wrote on my IG sums it up:
"The Aston Martin Vantage continues to confuse me, as did the old one. I was highly considering a purchase (was offered a terrific price), went in for a drive and walked away confused. The last V8 Vantage was far too expensive and far too underpowered. It never held its own against any of the rivals. And this new one feels no different. In the sportiest setting, the AMG motor doesn't have anywhere near the level of response I was hoping it would. I found myself downshifting far too often to make low RPM passes that would be cake in my current XKR-S. The chassis is sharp, the steering is wonderful, and the transmission is bang on. But the interior is perhaps too snug, I barely had an inch of headroom left, and the cluster of buttons is appreciated, but the layout is not. The Mercedes scroll wheel and touch pad together are nonsensical, and also optional (you can elect to skip the touch pad). And the outdated infotainment system had me wondering who would spend $160K (190K as optioned) on this when a 911 Turbo, F-Type SVR, R8 V10+, 570S, NSX, and others are within reach or even cheaper."
Hell, even a 911 S or GTS absolutely clobber this car in a straight line and on the track and costs 20-60K less (depending on trim and options). So again, who the hell is this car for? Why would anybody in their right mind buy this? When AM dropped the price of the V8 Vantage to $99K for an entry level spec car years back, it was the best move they made. And they should have stuck to that logic. Because an AMG GT starts at exactly that amount and is an improved, and arguably better looking version of this car...with largely the same hardware powering it.

By reilo Go To PostThe price tag is the biggest WTF given its engine, transmission, AND electronics are outsourced.
Oh but wait...it's actually using the ZF 8-speed, instead of the Merc 7-speed DCT. Soooo, it doesn't use the transmission that was basically designed for the motor. And I think that's also part of the problem in its lack of low-end response. It's baffling, but at least it's a reliable component of the car. Can't say the same about the motor.
Frankly, they should've stuffed an American V8 in there. :)
So, I wanted to mention that one of my 2020 goals is to start an automotive business of some sort. Looking to buy a few used exotics and rent them out. I'm looking to start with an Audi R8, then add a Jaguar F-Type V6S, and build from there. Keeping the budgets around $50K and less.
I see a few R8s in the Houston area and may ask one of you Texans *cough* SMOKEY *cough* to help me out with a visual inspection and a test drive. What I'm waiting for is I need to get an estimate of what I'd owe for my 2019 taxes. If the amount isn't awful, I'm jumping in. If it may set me back, then I'm putting plans on hold until Q4.

I've been thinking of a business of renting/leasing heavily depreciated sports cars to people who are into cars, but maybe not exactly in the position to outright buy lets say a used 996.
Short term rentals, primarily tourists and such. But hey, if someone were willing to pay more and keep renting, I have no problem with that.
Yes, precisely. I will advertise my Turo listings, as well.
I'm starting with 1 car first. Here's the list I have. Which car should I choose as my 1st? Meeting a new CPA on Wed.
Audi R8 4.2
Jaguar F-Type
C7 Corvette
Nissan GTR
BMW i8
991 Porsche 911
Right now, I'm most leaning to the Audi R8. I think the i8 is a strong contender, but it's not a commonly searched car. In a market like Central FL, Corvette would be a hot item, as well as the Porsche.

I reckon a 911 or Corvette will be the most logical business decision. However, the 911 also has a higher startup cost.
If I ever get a citation for no front plates, I imagine I will go with something like this: https://skenebrackets.com
I've gotten them before. IDGAF. I don't want a front license plate. It's dumb when even the registration stickers are only required on the rear.
By No Love Go To PostPicking up an E46 M3 on Sunday. Wish me luck, brothers. 🙏We will need pics!

Need pics of the M3.
Also, going to owe serious coin on my taxes for 2019. If I have enough left over, I will be investing it into the new business. But right now, I'm clenching my cheeks hard and praying for lube.

Man, something as large as a Chevy Tahoe should not exist as a mass consumer vehicle. That thing is a disgusting oversized and unsafe piece of shit.
I rented one today for a day trip to Napa with my family visiting out of town, and even as an experienced driver I felt completely unsafe and a danger to myself and others.
It handles like shit, it speeds up too fast and stops far too slow, and there is zero feedback or a sense of control over something that large. The suspension was stupidly floaty and yet somehow still extremely harsh over any sort of bumps. There's a giant deadzone in the steering. Approaching anywhere above 60MPH made me fearful. Pulling up next to something like an X5 or Discovery (already large vehicles, and the latter also seats 7) just dwarfed those in size by a good 30-40%. It's just a wasteful effort of engineering where everything was larger than it needed to be just to accommodate 7 people in a very uncomfortable package, whereas other full sized SUVs are able to do it and not approach anywhere near the wasted bulk.
Thankfully I didn't have to do any emergency maneuvers but I never felt comfortable that I could've used any sort of driving instincts to overcome it.
No offense to fellow giant Fender who can't fit in any sort of normal sized vehicle, but cars this large should never be sold to the masses.
Oh, and somehow a Suburban is even larger WTF
EDIT: oh my fucking god, they sold 100,000 of these last year

TL;DW: American driver's suck. It's funny how they hit on the Europe (and specifically Germany) point and how they drive versus West Coast and New York drivers. PacNW drivers are fucking WOAT.
Stay out of the left lane, dickheads.
Jason curses so damn much it's annoying. He's got such a knack for all things automotive, but his spazzy behavior and swearing really gets on my nerves sometimes.
SUVs are trash and are killing children. Ban these filth:

Only on the GTS models, though. Doesn't mean much to me unless it rolls out to models that cost less than my yearly salary. lol
The GT4 is priced at $99k, I imagine the GTS 4.0 will come in at a nice $80-85k.
Might be my next car purchase.

By jongkookie Go To PostWork just took delivery of a Taycan Turbo S.
It looks amazing in person.

My sponsoring Porsche dealer got one as well and are bringing it to my Cars and Coffee on Sunday :)
Some pics and pls excuse the Instagram filter lol.
Will definitely post more pics once I can. I believe PCNA has certain restrictions on displaying the car even tho we own it. 🤷♂️
These are some super exciting times at work tbh, we've got this and another very new product coming really soon... although that one, I dunno if I can post pictures the moment it gets off the trailer lol.

By ecnal Go To PostIs the 992 GT3 going to be a 20 or 21 model?
Are there still hoops to jump through to buy one?
I'd guess 21, turbo this year
Haven't had the chance to watch the video yet, but I wonder about this from time to time.
Infinit's sales were down 21% from 2018. Yikes.
I blame the 1st gen Nissan Rogue and Versa for the disaster Nissan is enduring. While other brands continued to trend upward in quality, the Versa and Rogue showed Nissan they can sell crap in volumes and made a lot of money doing so. Until it caught up to them and they couldn't right the ship. They started ignoring their premier cars like the GTR and Z, and as a result started getting left off the front pages of the big press guys like C&D, R&T, MT, Autoblog, Jalopnik and etc.
The brand stagnated so bad they've lost my interest almost entirely. I'm just at a point where I hope they don't fuck the Z up.

Fam...Sunday morning event was fucking nuts. Someone put together this incredible 15 minute video. Things got so packed that I moved my whip (you'll see it parked far away) and my sponsor's AMG to make room for the Group B rally cars.
My event was written about in the news. I did a sit down with the editor on Sunday.

I don't think anyone else in here likes Mustangs like me, but competing with a GT3 RS like that is impressive.
By diehard Go To PostI like them. I’ve never driven one but I love the way they look. After looking at its fuel efficiency I would never want one either
