Is it just me or is it weird that they retired the number Kobe wanted to get away from because he ... uh... committed a crime?

"Bean, we're gonna retire your number"
"O that's great. 24's meant a lot to me. Brought me out of a dark place I was at. Just really ushered in a new era in my life"
"We're honoring both numbers."

they retired both numbers so people could look up and see his nightly field goal percentage
By Red Blaster Go To Postthey retired both numbers so people could look up and see his nightly field goal percentagehow long did you have that one in the chamber?
I guess Big Baller Brand could rent out the Staples Center one night in August to do that if they wanted to.

Lebron will be in 6th by the end of next year.
By domino Go To Postpeep lonzo on the bench lmao. most emotion i've ever seen him showlmao i missed that. haha,
MRI on Brook Lopez confirmed moderate ankle sprain, will be reevaluated in three weeksmore minutes for Kuz.

Actually I just did the math, if the Cavs conservatively win 55 games this year, and whatever team Lebron is on next year does the same, that 87 wins would put him at 821, good enough for 9th. One additional season would put him in Dirk's neighborhood, and after that it gets dicey.
To pass Kareem (+340 wins), he'd have to play 5 more seasons averaging 68 wins per season, or 6 more seasons averaging 57 wins per season. That seems...unlikely.

Tim Hardaway Jr. (leg) will be re-evaluated in one week.Man the next two weeks may get ugly.
The Knicks have still not offered a firm timetable for THJ's return, but based on his checkup today, the Knicks medical staff determined that he will advance to on-court work and will be re-evaluated in one week. Hardaway Jr. is trending in a positive direction, but until he's going through 5-on-5 work and taking contact, we can assume he's not close. Lance Thomas will continue to start in his absence with Michael Beasley and Doug McDermott seeing some increased opportunity with the second unit

Longevity alone won't be enough to pass Kareem, he has to continue putting himself in situations to win. Dirk's total would be much bigger if he went chasing after rings or money instead of going through the full DAL rebuild.
Kareem at 40 started 80 games for a 60+ win team. LeBron's probably got two more contracts to negotiate by then.
By Kabro Go To PostSteve Nash is good people. So he could stand in the Corner like Fisher did?
I can only imagine peak nash with peak Kobe together.

Lonzo is actually having a pretty good December so far... Shooting 42% from the field and 33% from 3. Not great, but after the trash shooting numbers he had during OCT/NOV this is a welcome sign. What's really terrible is his free throw shooting though... under 50% for the season. Oof.
By Kabro Go To Postthe season can end now, my boy Nance Jr dunking on Mr. Beta himself.Whoa Lonzo feels excitement? Breaking news.
That's the first time I've seen him emote.
By IWMTB19 Go To PostWe shoot the 8th most threes in the league and our offense is mediocre so when our main option doesn't work, we lose.Like diehard mentioned, I'm poking fun at his 3 or die slander of my team. The gall to use that label on another team when yours literally has to shoot better than the Warriors (hence them as the barometer) to win games was amusing to me.
Not sure what we're arguing about…
I've posted what Houston's record is when they shoot worse than the worst team as well, and the point is still the same.
By reilo Go To PostNaw, chandlerparsons been going around for a while saying we should enjoy how the Rockets play just like Rockets fans do. It's a weird argument to make. "They're good, therefore they are fun to watch!" And like I said, plenty of good teams over the years I hated watching.Lol, don't misrepresent me like this. Whether you think the Rockets are fun to watch is a matter of opinion. Stating things like 'Harden does nothing but flop' and 'Houston are a 3 or die team' is a matter of fact.
They've got a center who leads the league in FG%, are top 5 FG% in the restricted area and have a top 10 defense, but shoot 3s is all non-Rockets fans think we can do.
Rockets do some things and some other things and oh are blowing the record for most 3's a game away.
Hold the fuck up.
Houston averages 43 3 point attempts per game. They shoot 83 field goals per game. They literally shoot more 3's than 2's, but they aren't a 3 or die team? Foh

This is the much larger issue than the pairing of the two individuals themselves IMO. Kobe played well with other stars on the Olympics. I feel like two competitors like those two would have made anything work in their prime.

By Jeff-DSA Go To PostLike Kobe and Shaq did.
I feel like Nash and Kobe are more similar in their competitiveness. Shaq and Kobe were like water and oil. They made it work more on the floor than they did off too.
