What? They are making two elite pg's work on the floor at the same time including in crunch time. Harden is by no means looking for the foul on every possession. I know this Houston team has a bad rep but this year is different. They are actually enjoyable to watch.

It's step backs and free throws, 100% of the time. It's ugly.
By Colonel Nasty Go To PostCanβt believe we pulled that one outIf I were a Blazers fan, I'd take the moral victory. CJ out of his slump, and they probably win if Dame didn't do his ankle in the third.
I was curious what the end of a close game would look like, and not sure if I got the question answered.
Tucker/Ariza/Gordon/Paul/Harden line up playing 4 out with endless Harden isos. I mean, they couldn't stop it, but I dunno how Paul feels about it. CP3 led the charge in the beginning of the 4th, but his biggest contribution down the stretch was his defensive rebounding. :/

From what I can see y'all were winning by 14 to start 4th. If you know what's coming and rockets don't shoot, or hardly shoot mid-range, how'd you blow that lead? How does Harden get 45+ on such easy, predictable play?

Houston spreads you out so well and it enables Harden to go 1 on 1, players would kill to have the freedom he does enabled by spacing.

Mm, look at that beautiful stepback/free throw. 100%.
Man, I didn't expect to start a Houston defense force. I'm still reeling from the WS loss, I ain't got the heart to stan for a Houston team. Still not gonna take back that I find this Rockets team enjoyable.
Jesus Christ Vonleh's ankles gave out before his brain did.
Like, watch that shit again. His upper body is trying to go after Harden for a block and his lower body is like "Nawwww son we quit like 2 seconds ago what you doing?"

We talked about it a couple of days ago, when you said Houston doesn't play real basketball because it's "3 or die", and it's games like this that show they take what defenses give them.
They had just 25 3PAs (to Portland chucking up 41), and they closed the 14-point defecit in the fourth with defense (6 of their 13 steals came in the last quarter) and abusing Portland's lack of interior defense.
By chandlerparsons Go To PostI never said anything about real basketball, i just said its not fun to watch.

Houston takes 44 3's a game, 10 more than anybody else. 4 more than last year where they broke the NBA record. How is it not "3 or die"? Defenses give them mid range shots, stop with this "they take what the defense gives them" nonsense.
By diehard Go To PostI never said anything about real basketball, i just said its not fun to watch. You supported the point from Jeff that what Houston did shouldn't be called basketball.

Did you not watch tonight's game? Did they take 44 threes? Did they die? An NBA coach, not me, just said Houston took what they gave them. Don't be dense.

1 game does not make a season, and i still think you are missing the point of the "3 or die" mantra.
By diehard Go To PostNo i didn't, i just supported that it wasn't fun to watch.I think you're the one who's missing the distinction between a preference for taking threes and it literally being the only thing we can do to win games (which is hilarious given how Portland played tonight).

Harden and Paul have the green light from midrange, them and Gordon can get into the paint at will, and Nene and Capela sure aren't on the roster to shoot threes, but yes, threes are the only thing we can (or want to) do.
Raps in Sacramento this afternoon. For whatever reason that place is a house of horrors, Toronto is 3-17 there lifetime.

When shooting worse than the league-worst Lakers (sub-31.9%), the Rockets are still playing .500 ball (better than the rookie or die Jazz at .481).
