By Unreal Champ Go To Post5 year contract says you can. The owners don't have to give in to Barcelona's bullshit. I don't get this if the player wants to leave let him leave bullshit. If he starts doing a Sanchez, I'd stick his ass in the under 18s and make him stay there until he fixes himself. Or sit him on the bench for the remainder of his contract, just to show we ain't taking a player's bullshit.Oh please.
Contracts renewals are more than often just to rise the asking price of a player and to entice him to stay for just one more year.
With some players there's nothing you can do when the rich or prestigious clubs come calling.

Unbeknownst to you, not every owner actually sees it that way. You do realise there are owners that actually want players to stay even when other clubs come calling. And some owners will say fuck off, take Stevie G for example, Liverpool told Chelsea to fuck off.

Lmao yeah do that...
Football is a complex business, and at some point the clubs decides to take the money and let the unhappy player leave for a reason.
Having an extremely unhappy player in the squad won't help Liverpool, neither will having him on the bench his contract out, if anything they will be down right irresponsible by then.
How they handle something like this sets the way for future transfers both incoming, but also outgoing. They have to fight for their players and show they are no push over by getting the best price possible. But also can't risk going to much into that camp, and have potentially great players in the future not want to join them in the first place, because they are afraid of not being able to leave, not to mention pissing off agents that have an incredible amount of power in football these days... And they certainly can't just throw our 150 millions plus wages or whatever, by having him rot on the bench. That's way too much to just let go to waste. Maybe if he was an unhappy old player with no resale value and little time left of the contract, they could Malouda him. But not with a player his age, worth and with that salary.

I mean, I understand what they are doing: they realise the market is bollocks now and want to get the same treatment as any other club in Europe (outside of Germany). Makes sense. Although paying that for Brandt would be beyond insane

You remember how the whole Gerrard to Chelsea thing was concluded? With Gerrard signing a new deal a few days later. He was frustrated with how his new contract negotiations were handled, and was in the end just forcing a better deal for himself. Meanwhile Coutinho has by all accounts been unhappy for half a year now wanting to leave, not 3 days or however long Gerrard had his transfer request handed in. Liverpool already told barca to fuck off once. But neither barca or Coutinho see taking no for an answer.
They were very different situations and hell even the players involved are. One is a childhood club player, who always had his heart at Liverpool vs a Brazilian that let's be real, probably doesn't have all that great feelings for Liverpool. That's just football today.

A lot of them dream of playing for Madrid or Barcelona, not the EPL top 6.
That's an Asian dream. :p

Do you lads pay the #fullamount for PC games or do you shop around for keys?

We are so far ahead in the league and he is cup tied for the champions league. Not sure how necessary or even useful of a signing he would be until next season.

The silence is deafening though. I imagine if it were really happening, it would go down like it has so far. Attempt to sweep it under the rug, stay completely silent until announcing he transfer.
I’m still holding out hope that it was a fuck up on Nike’s part, that they’ve prepared a page in the event it happens and someone uploaded it before any deal was done.
I’d rather we sell to Man United than Barcelona at this point. Southampton fans probably feel the same way about Liverpool. Anyone but those fucks.

a lot of things. the economy has been getting worse day by day, prices are skyrocketing (there have been a lot of memes lately on iranian social networks about the price of eggs) and the youth have been sick of the islamic republic bullshit since a long time
it could all fizzle out like the 2009 protests though
There has to be a balance struck between making sure the player knows we’re not actively trying to fuck up his dream move, whilst at the same time not just rolling over and allowing other clubs to behave however they want with no consequences.
I don’t see any reason why the club can’t call a meeting with Coutinho and his representatives and say “look, we will negotiate in the summer for a fair price, but if Barca continue to take the piss as they are then we will have to take a stand.”
I suspect if it’s Coutinho’s representatives feeding that back to Barca then their players and media mouthpieces will shut the fuck up fairly quickly.

Listening to one of those mega lists that builds up to midnight for NYE. Gary Moore's "Still Got the Blues" on now, these guitar solos never get old. Legend.
Given how many times Barca 'announced' the deal for Coutinho in the summer, the Nike store is probably not the most reliable source. Or anything that comes from the Spanish side really
Coutinho will start in the Copa del Rey and league, Iniesta for the Champions league. With Yerri Mina coming in to replace Mascherano I wonder if the Barca board will also try to sign Arthur from Gremio in January or will they wait until the summer?
Morning, lads. Have we sold our team yet?

In the summer, Madrid will sign De Gea, Hazard and Kane so everyone loses out equally. Liverpool will be fine.

I dont think FSG will sell Salah next season but between both of them, Salah seems like a better fit.

By FlutterPuffs Go To PostWell Hazard can be fucking soft at times.Aye Salah would fit either Real or Barcelona, to be honest. But as you say we won’t sell him. We went for him twice and turned him up a level, so he’d have a debt to stick around for some time.

Although if Real want to offer £150m and Gareth Bale I wouldn’t say no.
That Pep interview on BT was excellent. He’s fantastic, I absolutely love the guy.
Luckily Salah isn't South American so the Spanish clubs don't have the absurd pull with him. The bigger risk is probably PSG, I'm sure they'd love an Arabic superstar for their squad. He'd complete the trio with Neymar on the left and Mbappe in the centre
If this Coutinho deal goes through next week it's because this is a world cup year. That's it. There's no other reasonable explanation.
There's risk involved for Barca and LFC by waiting until summer, but the risk is much, much greater for the selling club given how unpredictable injuries can be. They've just invested massive funds on Van Djik and have Keita incoming. This sale should more than cover both of those deals which is an upgrade to the squad any way you want to look at it.
€150m is jokes though.
Is he as good or as marketable as Neymar? No. But that was last summer and this is Barcelona. They should cough up nearly what they sold their last Brazilian for.
The affect this has on Griezmann and a few of Atletico's other assets is going to be interesting to see develop.

Considering the VVD and Keita deals were in the works before Barcelona’s interest in Coutinho (for roughly the fees discussed) it wouldn’t wash with anyone if the Coutinho fee was spent on those two players.
If we’ve managed to secure Goretzka on a pre-contract and get a deal over the line for Thomas Lemar then yes, I’d say the deals would be worth it and we’re in a good position.
The big issue on this is Keita, Goretzka and Lemar most likely wouldn’t come until the summer, so why are we doing the deal now.

I dont think it's only because it's a World Cup year. I think it's a bit of a dick flaunting by Barca after having a star player taken away from PSG.
Not to mention losing out on Verrati who they were in talks with before that.
Taking Countinho could be the statement that they are still Barca, and they can still get whoever they eye for.
