I see I'm off the top 3. Need to start a new beef. Maybe me vs Yurt, cause he blocked me on twitter. But that also makes the beef all the harder to start again.
By W Go To PostI thought Mourinho would get the edge over Pep this season, but boy was I wrong. Both due to underating Pep a bit but also due to far overrating Mourinho. He has started turning sour at United even before we could imagine and it's easy to see where it's going from here. His historical pragmatic football is not so much that anymore, as much as it's a complete inability to coach attacking football.Yeah, Mourinho used to talk shit about Guardiola not wanting to coach in the EPL. It would also sting to look at the way city are playing, the way Pep is being praised and worst of all, looking at the epl table.
Not that they have to be an attacking team, but there is often little to not run patterns and way of attack, and nothing to fall back on, was the same with Chelsea quite often. Coupled with his fear of trying to win against any of the top teams (hell even at Chelsea do you remember how many times he started fucking Hazard up front against United… Even when they were doing badly…), even against a team as weak in defense as Liverpool, it makes for a rather embarrassing showing. You can make the argument for how it's the kind of results against Burnley that weakens Uniteds attempts at competing in the league, but it's certainly also the lack of ambition against making up for that against the other strong teams.

By FortuneFaded Go To PostFinished Black Mirror lads. Daddy needs a hug.How does it compare to S3, arguably the weakest BM season?
EDIT: So more or less on the same level, then? LMF is a false prophet.
Some people don't like the Americanisation and the fact that not every ending is bleak as fuck. If those are aspects you don't like, you won't like it.
By Arnie Go To PostI had an epiphany the other day and realised that Ashley Young was an incredible signing. Number of important goals, crosses and contributions he’s made since he signed.
And he had his mouth shat in by a pigeon.
Premier League Legend material
Eh, there isn't too many. Reckon he's got less than 15/20 assists in his entire time here off the top of my head, and this is his seventh year.
Become a dependable squad member though, and it all happened when he ate bird shit. Loves the club, plays anywhere, happy to be a reserve.
Said it earlier in the whatsapp but Black Mirror is a little overrated. There's 3 or 4 kwalitee episodes but there's about 20 now. Most are good so it's a good show overall but eh. Haven't seen S4 so I guess I'm judging it off 15 eps.
I like it a lot. It isn't second coming. The Last Jedi is the best. Fuck Morgan Freeman. Don't @ me.

Young has 16 goals for us and 8 of them were in his first season lol
8 in 6 years since.
23 assists in his United career according to whoscored.

Maybe every Ashley Young assist hurts me more because I think he’s a dick.
Or because his contributions seem to be the deciding factor in a poor game in which United should drop points.
Off to Anfield tomorrow. Most excited for the fried rice and chips curry sauce combo.

By Mushroom Go To PostAccording to Wikipedia, Benzema has over 90 goals in the last 4 full seasons.
Yeah I don't think Black Mirror is that great. Some interesting episodes thematically but a lot of them really miss the mark when it comes to, you know... being entertaining. When it's good it's excellent, though.
According to that statistic, Benzema averages around 14 for a year which is around the average age of his hookups so it seems right.
Relegation stats time:
I'm using the same sources and stats as with the top 6 post from a few days ago, so I won't bother to re-explain everything.
First is the ExpG table:
As I've mentioned in the past, the main thing to note with this table is that Palace are way better than their points total would suggest. This likely has little to do with Hodgson though and is probably just a result of the players they already had. De Boer's sacking was a silly overreaction because Palace were always going to improve a lot.
Burnley of course look terrible but the disparity is so great that most stats people suspect Burnley are playing in a style which simply confounds ExpG. The current explanation is that Burnley block a ton of shots, far more than other clubs but those blocked shots still count towards ExpG, which is why their numbers appear so strange. Also to note that in all of Dyche's seasons they appear to be heavily frontloaded in their seasonal performance, and opposition teams start to 'figure them out' in the second half and they drop off.
538's predictions:
Points on the board tend to mean a lot more at the bottom of the table, as there is only so much a team can make up in the second half of the season even if they are underperforming. Newcastle's superior ExpG stats are not enough for them to overcome the point advantage that Brighton have, for example. Do note that 538's team ratings have the three weakest teams as Swansea, Huddersfield and Brighton, with Newcastle actually a bit stronger than it's Championship peers.
ECI numbers:
Biggest difference for ECI is a lot more faith in West Ham and Stoke. though the bottom 3 remain the same.
And finally the bookies:
Other than Swansea, everything is still wide open in the relegation battle and any of the bottom 10 could be sucked in still. However, don't assume that the team that buys a few players in January will be on course for avoiding danger; another stat for you is that January signings, on net, tend to have no real impact on where a team finishes.

By NinjaFridge Go To PostWatching Skyfall. The CGI scorpion stands out too much.Wait until the komodo dragons.
Beautiful fucking movie tho.
Cheers Soho, really interesting.
I think Newcastle will stay up by the skin of their teeth because Rafa is the best manager in that bottom half; their squad is very poor so they might go I suppose. January investment very very important for them.
Brighton don't score enough but they are good defensively; Burnley from the last time they were here all over again. I reckon they'll bravely go down.
Swansea are already gone. WBA haven't had the Pardew bump I expected, and if they lose Evans then I'm not sure whether they have enough to stay up.

By Mushroom Go To PostGQ vs everyone at some point.
GQ has actually helped me out in the recent past. He's a good lad that I would totally introduce to my sister if i had one.
What is everyone's thoughts on Eddie Howe? Two seasons or so ago he seemed like a prodigy and someone destined to manage a big club, or at least step up a level. If Bournemouth go down I wonder if he'll follow them or move elsewhere.
S3 of Black Mirror is definitely the worst, but the outlier being the best episode of the series, hope S4 is more of a return to form.
I think he's still doing alright and I think Bournemouth are doing well to stick by him. Quality of player just isn't there tbh, and I guess that's on him. There are too many players in the side who were still there when they were playing in the Championship and League One. Maybe he's too loyal to them?

By Elchele Go To PostIt's great to have you back, Arnie. Are you still working in advertising?PR but it’s all much of the same thing.
I don’t know how people remember the names to episodes. Just smash go on Netflix.
If anyone is watching Black Mirror without having watched Dark then your priorities are way off.

Dark looks good. Got too much to watch though lad; I'm on a mission to watch every film made in 2017 before the Oscars so I can be extra judgy when my favourites don't win.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostWhat is everyone's thoughts on Eddie Howe? Two seasons or so ago he seemed like a prodigy and someone destined to manage a big club, or at least step up a level. If Bournemouth go down I wonder if he'll follow them or move elsewhere.Since they've come up Bournemouth have hardly had any successful transfers, big or small. Josh King probably the only one, though they do have a few young signings that could yet come good.
Otherwise its a list of Afobe, Gradel, Mings, Grabban, Ibe, Brad Smith, Lys Mousset, Ake, Begovic, and the loan signings of Iturbe and Wilshere. They've spent 95m on that bunch.
Hard to tell on Howe without knowing how his transfers were before they came up; he must have been ok to bring them up from League 2, so it could be he's just on a really unlucky streak.
