Probably will stay until next season though.

75 - Goals scored by Liverpool this season in all competitions.
Only Paris Saint-Germain (89) and Manchester City (77) have scored more in Europe’s big five leagues.
I could've sworn City scored a lot more than us. Didn't realise it was that close between them.

In that Liverpool tally, did they count Mignolet and Lovren's own goals?
I was gonna post this after the Arsenal match, but since the topic of United's performance came up it seemed more relevant now.
We're past the half way point of the season now so stats predictions are starting to get quite accurate. For your viewing pleasure I've grabbed some of the publicly available tables: we'll start with an ExpG table from Understat. I can't vouch for the quality of their ExpG calculations - there is no currently accepted standard for measuring, so different sites will have slightly different recordings - but it should be close enough.
The top 6 are sorted by Expected points, which basically just tallies up expected goals for and against in each match and awards a certain number of points for % chance of victory, which is why you have decimal values. Every table has City well established out front as you would expect. Liverpool are the second best performers in expG terms as they have been all season. ExpG are also more bullish on Tottenham than the other stats in this post, ranking them as 3rd best performers so far. Chelsea have solidified a lot from earlier in the season when they were looking really poor in ExpG terms. Arsenal in 5th have been somewhat unfortunate as the only team not to exceed their ExpG with actual goals. Meanwhile off the pace in 6th are United, currently massively exceeding both their goals for and against.
The ExpG table does not provide predictions however, it is just a measure of a teams stats so far. 538 rather helpfully provides constantly updated top 4 predictions, as well as overall ratings for each team.
538 put a bit more into their ratings than just expected goals, but it's probably not going to diverge from a pure ExpG table like the one above too much. It's better news for United when looking at actual position or points predictions, with 64% of top 4 and 77 points, just below Liverpool. Still, it's fairly wide open for all 5 chasing teams. However, if you look at their team ratings, which is SPI, things are bit more grim. Liverpool remain in 2nd, with Chelsea/Spurs/Arsenal all just below. United are a bit adrift, with the worst attack and defence of the top 6, despite their high points tally thus far.
One caveat that I think is important for United is that ExpG models, and most likely the method 538 uses, are quite poor at accounting for a well above average keeper like De Gea. You would expect United to outperform on ExpGA because De Gea is going to be pulling off more saves than any other keeper and will stop some highly likely goals from actually succeeding. He would bring United much closer to the others I reckon - and Liverpool would probably be dragged back a bit by the below average Mignolet.
And not every stats table is quite so down on United. Euro Club Index have the following predictions:
ECI have United solidly in 3rd, with Liverpool/Arsenal/Spurs scrapping it out for the final position, and their team ranking index has United as currently the 10th best team in Europe. ECI are a bit vague on what constitutes their methodology so I can't comment on why there is this difference, but in terms of predictive power they have done well in past seasons so there is no reason to think this won't be more accurate than 538's prediction. In addition, betting markets look similar to ECI but with United clear in second.
Its obvious why there is a bit of concern though, despite United's good league performance so far.
edit: I'll post a relegation round up a bit later

By Bold 2 in One Go To PostUnless we make some acquisitions in January, I actually dont think we will make top 4Stats are damning, but I don't think we will do that badly.
Right now we are the poster boy for a club in crisis. A few weeks ago it was Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs in no particular order.
Our weaknesses have been more apparent recently though. From a lack of quality fullbacks, a solid, dynamic midfielder, to options that can deliver good crosses. Teams still can take advantage of that by just keeping it absolutely tight in the middle.
It's so horrible seeing us trying to unlock defensive formations.

You sound mad, bruh.
👀
I mean, Pep did inherit a better squad by some distance. But we have added Micky, Pogba, Zlatan to a squad that already had Martial, Mata, Rashford...
I think Mourinho is doing a good job, I want to stress that b4 inky tries to rekt me. Second to a team doing absolute madness is fine.
I just think he should be doing better in terms of how we play.
And I'm getting bored of the spin quicker than I thought I would :lol

n8, m8. You’re bored of it because Mou use to do a better of job of it. Deflecting criticisms onto himself rather than his team has now become “Everyone’s at fault but me” antics. I still say that Pep has a dodgy back line but he’s doing a sensational job of putting the good shit to use. No shame in playing second fiddle to what City are doing right now but like you say, Mou should concentrate on getting the best out of his starting XI.....
....and he can start by getting rid of Mhki. But he can’t have Savic tho. He’s Tottingham bound.

As a team we are disjointed and lack cohesion - individual performances have been saving us.
The full-back, Wingers and midfield still remain massive problems despite spending so much and I think that is what worries me most - our scouting network is an abject failure
It's just so boring.

I think the wheels at United will fall off. I don’t think they have a style of play to pull them out of the crossfire of Mourinho’s comments. Confidence drops with each time Mourinho blames a lack of spending for bad results. Finances are not the reason for conceding two to Burnley at home.

By W Go To PostSo United really are the most lucky team in the top.I forgot to include the "table adjusted for injuries and ref decisions" which has United 10 points clear
Lingard has 6 goals and 4 assists in the league while Hazard has 5 goals and 2 assists. Dab prince will lead us to glory.
Hazard really should score more than he does
He's easily good enough to play the attacking metronome role he does, and score a fuck-tonne of goals as well

Even more so when we have one of the best scouting networks out there. Not their fault the managers pick the players that they want.
I'm actually in favor of United going with a GM role, especially after having to deal with the shit transfers in the Moyes, LVG era.
Hopefully, after Mou leaves.

it's really not that difficult for pep to have a better squad when mourinho is extending fellaini's contract. christ.
also, i despise mourinho, but to be honest... i don't want him to get fired or leave the premier league. he's a hoot.

Maya Yoshida openly stating Saints are in a worse position under Pellegrino, than with Puel:
"Yes, we can't pass on responsibility to anyone else - to the manager, team-mates, the club. That's easy. Can't be too long until he's gone.
"Everyone has to take responsibility. Claude Puel was fired last season because the club wasn't satisfied. But the situation is even worse now.
"So just sacking the manager is clearly not always the best choice. But it is not my decision, it is a club decision."
