Slaent probably isn’t big enough to need that. At our size we can self-moderate like we do, and the occasional genuine trolls get perms. But I do like the warnings and the public message. The system at Gaf practically encourages mods to use it as a tool for personal gain.
That said it seems disengenuous to call the gaming forum a gaming forum because I’m not convinced that’s what it’s about. Pretty much every thread is a discussion on sex, race, or another social issue, and pure discussions about game software are the exception to the rule.

Did you notice that posters who were banned for actual bannable offenses have made their way back on resetera? Some of them had been banned for years...and guess what they are still doing the same things that got them perma banned way back then. Gaming side threads are still a complete shit show, it is gaf with a new coat.

It's more than a gaming forum, because it's only one of the few gaming forum that positions itself to the left, and is tough on harassment and bullshit satements to LBGT or mentally... problematic gamers.
Admittedly some of the users are aggressive, arrogant, and downright dumb on some matters, but it's a whole lot better than some out there.

The system at Gaf practically encourages mods to use it as a tool for personal gain.It has somewhat fixed what I thought was Gaf's biggest problem, the mod system was bogus, self-serving and tyrannical, it was like playing Russian roulette (unless you were part of the arbitrary protected class) because it all seemed to depend on the mood of the mod at that particular time. Its lack of transparency and accountability is what lead to Gaf' eventual downfall.

As for the Gaming side's bullshit non-stop social commentary? sometimes I think that is to score brownie points - I am not sure how you fix that...

Not really something I've noticed, I've never cared enough about individual members to be bothered who is let off the hook, they're all just faceless words to me. Community threads are obviously different and much better.
The SoccerEra thread is better too tbh. Some pretty good discussions there.
I lurk there sometimes, but unfortunately, it's missing some good banter.

Had a dream that i was showing a colleague some work and was tabbing between me windows and a porn tab was showing in its full glory and ignored it and continued with the work in silence.
Then i woke up and realised i work from home.
Now i have 15 porn tabs open.

I still think they pick and choose who to ban and warn. The mods haven't changed even though it supposed to be a reset.
By Unreal Champ Go To PostI still think they pick and choose who to ban and warn. The mods haven't changed even though it supposed to be a reset. What do you mean, the mods there are literally different people.
And mostly people are getting warned than downright banned. Also most bans I've seen are deserved, plus only for a short length of time.
I think it's clear to everyone that Pogba was trying to cartwheel between the defenders before being fouled.

Someone I know got insulted by a poster there. The poster who insulted him wasn't warned, my friend replied to them asking why he had to insult him and told him maybe he should go see someone because of his anger. My friend got warned for insulting that poster but yet the poster who insulted him didn't get warned. He made an enquiry about it and they never responded to his enquiry and he waited it out for over a week. He said he signed out and hasn't been to the site since then because to him its no different from NeoGGAF.

Just read but why both of them weren't warned? The guy called him a dick for no reason. If you are going to warn one user for insult then both of them should have been warned. I think he left on the merit that he was warned but the other user wasn't. He would have stayed if both of them were warned. I think that was his issue.

Thanks, Dick! Now on to the weather.
Yeah, no shit. Just wasn't expecting it to look as good as it does now. They went beyond my expectations.
Meanwhile your friend accused him of having anger issues and asked him to see a shrink. That guy's post wasn't even aggressive.

I personally don't see it that way myself. I think it was aggressive on both parts. There was no need for the guy to call him a dick in the first place.

Here's my amateur stats team of the half season:
Pope (Burnley)
Gomez (Liverpool); Sanchez (Tottenham); Monreal (Arsenal); Delph (City)
Merino (Newcastle)
Pogba (United); Silva (City)
Salah (Liverpool); Okazaki (Leicester); Richarlison (Watford)
Here's how it was worked out: For attacking players it was easy to rely on xG and xA, and with goalkeepers you can observe how much better GA is compared to their team expected goals. For the more defensive players there aren't currently good available player statistics (at least no publicly available), which limits me to the mundane statistics of tackles, interceptions, blocks, etc. These aren't particularly reliable though so this is a bit more subjective.
However, beyond pure stats there is also the question of team performance. The likes of Aguero or Sterling have some of the best xG numbers but you have to question how much of that is due to City being so dominant; we need to look at how their performance compares to some hypothetical average player. Chances are that you could slip a lot of different players into the City lineup and they would still be outputting great numbers because it has as much to do with the teammates and tactics as it does with their ability. Same with Burnley's defenders, where everyone involved has great blocking and interception numbers, not just Tarkowski or Mee.
I also took into account performance relative to position or expectation. Delph is not impressive compared to the average City defender but I'm putting him in because as a mediocre CM playing at LB he is doing very well indeed.
The best of the lot is Pope
