Yeah that scene was perfect. And even though the movie is far from flawless, it was a fun ride. For now I like The Force Awakens better. Rogue One still being the best Star Wars output of these recent films.
Hahahaha my old stomping grounds down Reigate.
Note: Reigate doesn't have any real nightclubs. Assume they means some shite bar like Tickled Ivory.

Rogue One might be technically better than the prequels but then they manage to be awful enough to occasionally be fun, Rogue One is just boring

I know nobody cares, and you shouldn't, but yesterday I spent the better part of the afternoon / evening watching Serie A related stuff on TV. It's been literally years since I've last sat through one of the traditional calcio shows and I'm thinking it will be years before I do it again. What a circus. It's always been one, of course, but I've noticed that many of these shows, even the remarkably low-brow ones, now feature "prominent journalists" from all walks of the trade, evidently in an attempt to make it look like they've achieved credibility. So in a couple of hours I've learned that ...
☻ This is sensational race to the scudetto, with 5 clubs trapped with a couple of points, with Inter that suddenly seems human, with Napoli back to being the second best team in Europe, even though their 3 goals (they scored 2 in the 6 matches before) vs. Torino were in part due to an absolutely suicidal tactical setup from Mihajlovic. Not to belittle flabber's troupe, at all, but you'd think someone would at least mention it.
☻ Roma's 1-0 victory was their sixth with such a result, but apparently it wasn't one of those ugly and boring 1-0s Juve are known for (?), one where Roma played like shit and won thanks to a very dubious goal in extra time, possibly a VAR fail ... but rather a phantasmagoric expression of sheer solidity, which we all know is the one true birthmark of great football teams throughout history.
☻ Despite what Inzaghi and other Lazio VIPs have been either saying outright or suggesting, Lazio haven't yet retired from Serie A in response to the vast number of injustices they've suffered as of late. And so Lotito's boys carry one fighting against the evil establishment (one Lotito's "helped" put in place, but these are mere details), well aware that if it all comes down to an iffy pen call, it most certainly won't be called in Lazio's favour, as this table of penalties awarded in the past 18 months clearly goes to show.
☻ This is a sensational race to the scudetto, part deux, not like all those other years when it was all just a boring monologue from Juve, while elsewhere in Europe tournaments were balanced and competitive, thanks to a "just and honest distribution of TV rights, unlike in Italy". So now that both petro-PSG and petro-City, as well as Bayern and Barca are 10+ points ahead of the fierce competition they're facing, with their respective leagues mostly decided, the question changes. You see, when Juve were dominating the league, but were struggling in Europe (two CL finals in three years, but again - mere details), one had to wonder about the quality of Serie A. How come now Juve's EU rivals are so far ahead of their domestic competition though? It has to be because Juve's turned to shit, it just has to.
☻ After blaming Montella for their recent misadventures and not being able to blame Gattuso just yet, (a portion of) Milan's fans and pundits are now tentatively targeting UEFA and their "absurdly rigid rules", which saw Milan being denied from entering the famous voluntary agreement with said football organization. An agreement that allegedly included the promise of a 200m€ merchandising income from China. Which may very well still come to fruition, however so far the books only show an income of 160k€. Not quite as significant a figure, as I'm sure you'll agree.
☻ This is a sensational race to the scudetto, parte terza, at least until a certain club rob their way back to the top of the table.

As unbalanced as Rogue One was, it was fun and things that were happening seemed to matter a heck of a lot more than in TFA.
Also a very refreshing cast for a star wars film.
Serie A is lit this year until Pep decides to go there to collect the final infinity stone.

I love reading about your thoughts on Serie A Zabo.
Which I could watch more of them, and La Liga.
Not Bundesliga tho.

Not gonna read that whole post, but yeah Serie A looks exciting this year. If Roma catch up the top 4 could be within 2 points of each other about halfway the season. Would be fun if someone else than Juve takes it home this year.
Great post by Zabo. Would read again.

Yeah.
Football isn't all about results tho innit otherwise all but 1 club every league season would be truly happy 🌞
I'm happy with us 2nd! I would like to enjoy watching us win more though. Let Pogbanallah loose on the botties

I was about halfway and then I realised that none of the information I just consumed was something I could give a fuck about. From the big leagues (ignoring France in this one) I never really bothered with Serie A. But in general I do like the fact that it seems to be closer up top than it's been in recent years since Juve has been wrapping up titles left and right. So there's that.

Basically.
It's okay, Linius. I'm an avid Eredivisie fan as well. Can PEC Zwolle pull an Arsenal this year, win that ever illusive 4th place trophy? We'll see.
I'd could've honestly summed the whole thing up by saying that if you're looking for a shred of competence and objectivity, Italian football shows aren't the place.

football shows in the netherlands are absolute filth. a lot of these people haven't even performed at the top level or have failed at that level.
and most analysis boils down to "if this defender had gone five metres to the right, the goal could've been prevented."
fuck off.

Some data scientists at the University of Pisa wrote a paper about 'expert' evaluation compared to pure machine learning evaluation to see if an artificial system of rating would match the ratings of humans. They used football statistics and player ratings from Italian newspapers as their dataset. Some tidbits below:
The researchers also have the ratings for each player in every game from three sports newspapers: Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport, and Tuttosport.
The newspaper ratings have some interesting statistical properties. Only 3 percent of the ratings are lower than 5, and only 2 percent higher than 7. When the ratings are categorized in line with the school ratings system—as bad if they are lower than 6 and good if they are 7 and above—bad ratings turn out to be three times as common as good ones.
To test this idea, Pappalardo and co gathered another set of data that captures external factors. These include the age, nationality, and club of the player, the expected game outcome as estimated by bookmakers, the actual game outcome, and whether a game is played at home or away.
When this data is included, the artificial judge does much better. “By adding contextual information, the statistical agreement between the artificial judge and the human judge increases significantly,” say the team.
Indeed, they can clearly see examples of the way external factors influence the newspaper ratings. In the entire data set, only two players have ever been awarded a perfect 10. One of these was the Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuaín, who played for Napoli. On this occasion, he scored three goals in a game, and in doing so he became the highest-ever scorer in a season in Serie A. That milestone was almost certainly the reason for the perfect rating, but there is no way to derive this score from the technical data set.
