If it's happening like it was on the first game, most of the weekly/daily events you can not do it anymore because you need a higher level/gear to enter. On these events you would get drops with the best gear available.
Something like that, i havent played Destiny for more than 2 years. Basically, you can't do these things anymore, even if these events were with content from your version.
