Why is nobody dragging Obama?
Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the sitting President assume control of his/her political party, or is supposed to?
So for eight years, wasn't it Obama's responsibility to keep Hillary's money laundering scheme out of the party? Did he shun or neglect that responsibility, entrusting it to lesser stewards?
How do we know this didn't somehow become an agreement between Obama and Hillary all along? Couldn't this be emblematic of collusion to screw the true will of the people?
Also, when the next Civilization game comes out, won't it show Obama as the guy who didn't know how to use Twitter, all while showing Trump as the guy who beat all the odds?

I'm still waiting for him to officially reveal the Kenyan birth certificate. Trump was right all along. We got played by that long-legged Mac daddy.
Plenty of people dragged him, and rightfully so, for drone warfare, being soft on banks, and lack of interest in organizing the democratic party.
It's just that a lot of racist nonsense from the right drowned out legitimate criticism. Can't have a honest conversation about what he's doing right vs. wrong when the other side's arguments are not on the level.

Money laundering scheme? What?
Also a rich white man beating the odds compared to the black guy with the name "Barack Hussein Obama" lol

This is the second thread you have made that involves 'dragging,' and I still don't have a clue what it means. :(((

Cheers lol, just never heard it used like that.
I suppose being called a nigger for 8 years straight by a third of the country doesn't qualify as dragging because it's not a legitimate argument for anything.
He pioneered drone warfare after being given a Nobel Peace Prize. Many articles were written about it. And a lot of liberals lamented the fact that he governed like a centrist (as if he had another choice).
I think a lot of people are just glad the first black president made it through two terms without any major scandals.

It was always weird for me because, as a black man, I didn't like Obama (still don't) and my community resented me for it, as if I owe him my support.
Nevertheless, we've got bigger fish to fry, and it's not worth my time nor energy to drag a former president when we're going through so much shit right now.

I'm growing more and more .....away from Obama tbh
I mean, I like "him" but a lot of policies (or lack thereof in many areas) leave me confused or disenfranchised in the worst way.

From the outside looking in, seems like the Repubs and closet racists made it their life's goal to ensure he never achieved anything through a myriad of obstructionism.
On top of which, the work and visibility he gave to the disenfranchised on a social level were remarkable. He wasn't perfect, but I would have assumed the current fuckery would have made some of you reflect in a better light.

Hardly fair to blame him for drone warfare. He just happen to be president when the technology came to fruition. It wouldn't matter what president was in power. The military would be using them. They put less American lives at risk in any case
Honestly I was more angry at his drones killing Anwar al Awlaki's kid than anything Trump had done so far apart from... killing al Awlaki's other kid.
Obama's conscience has a lot to answer for.

Imagine winning back to back elections as a black man for the Presidency and still copping heat for the state you left the party in...

Drone warfare doesn't just start itself. You're acting like Obama was forced to sign off on it.

The actions the president can do pretty much unilaterally against foreign entities without any oversight or regulation is frankly ridiculous.
What are the arguments against drone warfare? I'll admit I don't know very much about it other than to my mind it seems like a way of saving your own force's casualties. Is it you're unable to target individuals so it could lead to more civilians/innocents dying?
Tons of innocents die and it creates more long-term conflict when the regions we do it in are destabilized and radicalized by our actions.
But didn't tons of innocents die and actions destabilised the regions with boots on the ground too? Genuinely asking, hope i'm not being facetious.
Yes. The problem is that we see military intervention as the answer even when we shouldn't. We should be far more discerning in how and when our forces are used.
I think it's the volume more than the tactic that people seem to take issue with.
When you can simply sent a death robot to do your bidding, it's easy to see how things can get out of control when you have people who are looking to make a name for themselves running or overseeing multiple ops concurrently, and blood thirsty Congress breathing down their necks for results.
I'm not against drones or their use in the field at all, but the program was certainly mishandled in numerous ways where those in charge where allowed to literally get away with murder. And I don't fully subscribe to the notion that they've enabled the next generation of terrorists because that feels like it was an inevitability anyway. If it wasn't the drones it would be something else.

It's true that drones spare American lives, but war is considered more carefully when there are lives to lose. What do we risk by sending machines to kill people overseas? What is the result of reduced risk?
Eh, the Syrian civil war was a huge mess, though he is not the only one at fault there. (Not on topic, but thought i would bring it up)
Cannot comment on Obamacare, as i do not know much about it, other than you could not keep your doctor. (And being penalized if you could not afford said care)
Overall, outside of foreign policy, and being hellbent on excutive (?) ordering a lot of things, he was not the antichrist that he was made to be by certain folks. Though he is not my favorite.

No skin in the game, man.
Obama was a good but flawed president. I’ve seen all these issues at some point be brought up. In a lot of way he was dealt a bum hand too.

But yeah, I feel really betrayed by Obama's "legacy" now that we know he didn't put the party in any position to succeed after his departure. It's like he just banked on Republicans being broken again, or more broken than Hillary anyway. Either way, he bet wrong. Now the citizens pay the price, yet again, as always.
I now feel like eight years of Obama were eight long years of stagnation and possibly even a net negative because all we did was enrich private health insurance companies without really getting anywhere for the most part.
After Bill Clinton was forced to retire, we've literally lost two decades of our lives for nothing, just by being American.

That's not an Obama issue, that's a democrats in general issue. They're all especially good at taking the electorate for granted because we sometimes vote for the right thing.
I feel that even amongst white Liberal Americans, there was so much misunderstanding about the man and what he could do in the office of the president.
The fact he got anything done at all is nothing short of amazing.

I have a lot of love for Obama...... but he did somewhat fuck over the party. Not on purpose, but because he sort of tried to take the DNC over and very early on it became clear that while excellent at both running for and being president it was impossible to do both at the same time (just ask Trump who is in constant campaign mode and sucks as a president).

Maybe Obama tried to take it over in an attempt to get around Clintons? Maybe he was trying to recreate the magic of Acorn that was destroyed when in the first time in history the legislative branch outlawed a nonprofit organization? Maybe Obama was so focused on the 2016 campaign he forgot the importance of the DNC in state election leading up to the better known national ones. Maybe because his prior 2 elections showed that he did know better than the DNC he thought they could use what he did on a national scale. This off course completely ignore the fact Obama was a iconoclast politician who exuded both charism and competency.
With that said Obama doesn't need to be dragged through the mud for it. No one is perfect, and honestly the DNC has been ran well since Dean did it.
Hell right now Bernie is still on the low running his next presidential election campaign in his own style of OFA, in direct opposition to the DNC since he refuses to give them the names of his donators/supporters. Should he be ran into the coal? Hell no we all know the DNC is still a cesspool of internal politics.
