House Marque: Arcade is Dead
Looks like after the poor sales performance of Nex Machina and their other recent games they’re moving on to other genres.
Pretty sad for any fans of that genre.

Really terrible news.
Matterfall was eh, but Next Machina and Resogun are fucking classics this gen what a shame.

Welp, it was fun while it lasted. It sucks that there's no one near their caliber when it comes to twin stick shooters, they were so good at making modern interpretations of old school arcade games.
It probably didnt help that they released two games so quickly between each other. Also, I think it is time for Housemarque to move on to something else anyway.
I know/knew nothing about Nex Machina from when it launched until now, but I did see some Matterfall clips that made it look pretty interesting.
I never pulled the trigger on that purchase but I've played and enjoyed Super Stardust and Resogun alot so it's sucks that this is the end of arcade for Housemarque, but they have talent that can hopefully be used for something even better.

I don't think arcade games make sense being sold individually anymore. Even going back to the original PlayStation One era, you'd have old school arcade games being packaged by the tens on one single CD, and it was actually a good buy, because back then these games would just be marketed as Greatest Hits and sold at like $20 or $25, forget exactly which, and I picked up the collection that had Time Pilot in it, and we'd have a blast exploring the other games.
But yeah, Housemarque should've read the situation better much earlier and thought of themselves as composing a collection or catalog... not just individual marquee titles... that's the only way arcade games might be able to survive going into the future, as individual tracks on an album.

By data Go To PostThey put out ex machina and resogun way too close togetherI think you mean Nex Machina and Matterfall. Resogun came out in 2013.
OT, this is terrible news. It's a shame that more people aren't into these games. Nex Machina is amazing.
I kept asking in gaming thread why nobody was playing nex machina when it released.
This yall and everybody else's fault tbh

Package 5+ arcade style game into one release with online support and I would pay full price
It really didn’t make sense they were only doing one gener, hope they find more success with whatever they will be doing next.
