“It never materialised as I thought it would, unfortunately,” Allardyce told broadcaster Talksport.
“For me such a long time without a decision, I had to make a decision myself. The decision was it was probably better it wasn’t me, and I’d move on to something else. It would have been a fabulous job, but it just didn’t feel right.
“I think when you’re sat in my position you want people to be decisive and feel like they want you. I didn’t get that feeling overall. They were hesitating that I was the man.”
Allardyce has some support at Goodison Park, while others within the boardroom have reservations. A temporary arrangement was discussed, but the former England man sought a longer-term deal.
Watford’s Silva is evidently the preference of major shareholder Farhad Moshiri, but the London club’s hardline approach - they are currently refusing permission for the two parties to meet - presents him with some tough choices.
Should Silva not be obtainable, it could be a difficult negotiation with the back-up plans if Everton need to keeping reviewing their options. Everton would have to decide whether to mend bridges with Allardyce, pursue Dyche or continue with Unsworth who still has considerable support within the club to remain in charge for the time-being.
Come back Allardycio. We still have your big boi Kone and we now even have a tall striker for you. You'll LOVE IT.

The Liverpool and Huddersfield results definitely took all momentum out of this season, combined with City doing so well. But still second and 4 wins from 4 in Europe.
Season is far from over.
