Amazon have bought the TV rights for a multi season Lord of the Rings TV show. Lots of pressure there as the movies were brilliant. They also covered the most important plot points of the books. Tom Bombadil and The Scouring of the Shire aren't enough to differentiate it from the movies.

Tom Bombadil and The Scouring of the Shire aren't enough to differentiate it from the movies.It's going be about events preceding The Fellowship Of The Ring evidently(directly preceding or long before wasn't specified to my knowledge), at least the first show they intend to do, so it seems they're wisely choosing to not directly compete with the movies. Honestly, I think there's a whole lot of people out there who could manage to make a good show set in Middle-Earth if they got a reasonable budget, and some of the negativity to the deal I've been seeing seems a bit strange to me.
Amazon should buy the rights for the Highlander franchise so I can watch some more awful direct to DVD movies where they say MacLeod, the quickening and there can be only one.

Millions of people already had a vision of what Middle-earth looked like before Peter Jackson waddled into our lives, yet the films were still a success (more financially than artistically ... grumble grumble). You know, I ain't even that mad at Ventura. Guy wasn't great, but at least he tried to introduce youth. Also, up until that Spain game, we played better football than under Conte(That isn't saying a lot)
I am more disappointed with the mistakes that the veteran players continuosly made during qualification, and the lack of desire from a certain rat faced cunt to play for Italy.
This Italy side even with Ventura should have been good enough to beat Sweden.
I do feel dead inside. It is my understanding that Ireland can still make the WC, but I honestly don't care. I know it sounds salty, but I doubt I will watch the WC.
