By rossonero Go To PostSo…. It looks like you shouldn't be embarrassed to have a soundbar anymore since they are getting pretty good? And can be used as a center channel? They are situationally fine. There's just a limit to what can be done with such small speakers placed so far away from the ears.
Moving into a new apartment and got curious about sound systems. Thinking about starting with a sound bar and then go from there. We have HiFiklubben here, that has good stuff and knowledgeable people in there.

I’ve heard good stuff about those guys and girls.
By Kuma Go To PostR2R dacs worth it? Probably not right?Does it offer features you want and don't have? Then, sure. If it is just "better performance", absolutely not.

It is a smol unit with Diraq audio processing that has eARC, 8 channel out, and supports WiSA for a low-latency connection to wireless speakers.

Dad came round with one of his audiophile pals. He builds speakers and stuff and has a pair of Klipsch Forte of which I listened to once.
He offered to buy my speakers from me after having listened to them. I was like hell to the naw dawg. I'm certain that I have the only pair in Europe.

I need to clean the foam ear cups for my Grado Hemps. Supposedly, I can use dish soap and water but I dunno...
I had the NW-A306 for a week to try and had to return it, the volume capping for the NA/EU versions is a joke. Don’t really have much of my music in FLAC so I’m not really the target audience for this. Apple Music + dongle on my iPhone 13 is my preferred method for portable audio.
I would like to own a dap again. Anything to preserve my phone battery life. Probably not that one though and preferably Tamagotchi sized.
The Shanling M0 Pro seems to be a decent device for that. It's really small:
The 3.5mm jack supports both balanced and unbalanced (though balanced requires a separately purchasable adapter). Pretty affordable in the US, too. $130. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BPQVYBZG

By JesalR Go To PostLooks fun, but I think I’d want something that runs apps so I can use it for podcasts tooYeah, looks like it runs its own custom OS. It does support podcasts, though, and even has built-in controls to speed them up. But you would likely have to sync the thing with whatever actually downloads your podcasts and that may be a deal killer.
Didn't know that they released a smaller model as well. Intrigued coupled with the fact that you can use it as a streamer.
But there are alternatives out there that also deserve attention.

I don't work at HFK anymore for about 1,5 years and I used to sell this thing. Is Darko tracking back the archives here haha

I usually throw my pads in the washer on the delicate setting lol
I moved house a few weeks ago. And I completely rediscovered my headphone setup now that I have a proper home office and live alone. Very relaxing to listen to the HD660S again.
Currently running:
Speakers: Argon Audio Fenris A4
Stands: Stagegeek
Streaming: Bluesound Node 2i (spare from the main setup in the livingroom)
Amplification/DAC: Schiit Magni/Modi 3+
Headphones: Sennheiser HD660S
Desk: Ikea Karlby top + Fullly Jarvis
Still got some more decorating ahead of me. But I'm really happy to have this space now.

Having an issue with a new Dolby Atmos soundbar I bought yesterday, wonder if anyone can help.
Basically have it connected via eARC to a LG C9 OLED which defo supports Dolby and DTS sound formats and it will only work if I select PCM on TV settings, doesn't work if I select auto or passthrough. Dolby Atmos works fine with everything I've tried it on (4K blu-rays with Atmos track using a Panasonic UB820, apps on TV with Atmos support), it just doesn't seem to work with 5.1 tracks or even 2.0 tracks
It's bizarre lol

Shit nice as hell
Pretty sure I mentioned this before, but speaker wedge stands are a wonderful accessory for desktop speakers. They are also cheap: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H1D66GT/
Ideally, you want your speakers angled in such a way that their sound waves meet at a point right behind your head, at ear level. Won't make an earth shattering difference, but a noticeable one.

Yeah mine are sitting on stagegeek stands at the desk. A few years ago I had them just on the desk, below ear level as well. The stands worked wonders for improving the sound.

Kibs holding out on the secret sauce on the wedge stands smh.
I bought some some new iems(Simgot Ea500). Didn't want to put much wear on my babies(Tanchjim Hana 2021)

Seeing as though I like DIY and speakers I’m finding myself in an online rabbit hole. Apparently 5 figure speaker components themselves aren’t expensive. When the components are engineered as system you can get 5 figure quality out of fractions of the cost. Dudes are recommending books, but apparently there’s plenty of available design that work great on various boards.
Anyone here tried DIY speakers? Kib this seems like maybe something you would enjoy

I’m super tempted to try out some floor standing ones. I could pretty easily make my front in walls elevated for that atmos set up 🧐
Dimensions, wiring diagrams and the dude even shows impedance rating for his build 👀

Any IEM recommendations? My Massdrop Plus Universals are failing. $200 gone in less than 3 years 😡
The left IEM sounds like it has a high-pass filter on it. I have a backup pair of something from a decade ago -- the quality is okay but the fit sucks.

Only $299? Some of the news sites were fear-mongering with potential prices increases.

I'll keep an eye on the them closer to Black Friday when they'll definitely get a $50 price cut.

I've been using the Moondrop Aria over the past few months and it beats everything else I own.
