By MF Coom Go To PostI went to a record store where I came across two monitors from IMF Electronics pumping out tunes. I was immediately taken by the sound.
I asked the staff to remove the grill because I thought that they might be a single driver speaker with a large woofer but it turned out to be a two way design like a vintage KEF.
Mid-range was sweet and the soundstage wide, permeating through the store. But the best thing about them was that they played music effortlessly. And behind all of that, a crappy pioneer amp with Spotify. I literally raised an eyebrow like, are you fucking with me?
This might have been the best sounding cheapest scrounged together stereo that I've come across ever. So yeah kids, don't sleep on vintage stuff and remember that synergy matters.
I think it looks pretty slick. Just don’t really get why they opted for a cheap cartridge. My 550 euro pro-ject came fitted with Ortofon 2M Red. This turntable is supposedly 899 euros over here and comes with an inferior cartridge.
As a sidenote, calling an 899 euros turntable starter is stretching it. The average person I had in the shop over the years was already tough to convince the 300/350 euro turntables would be a decent starting point.
I still have a gift card from my old employer from when I left the company. Considering buying a 2M Blue needle for my cartridge as a minor upgrade in my system. But on the other hand I feel like I severely underuse my recordplayer to justify upgrading it.

It also comes with a built in phone stage which softens the blow a little bit. Also, Technics stands for quality.
I guess I'm different clientele. I like to go on out of my own budget for equipment. But mainly for the quality of engineering. A lot of these things you purchase from the heart but that's just me.

My gf got me the Radsone ES100 MK2 for Christmas. I've only been able to use it the last couple days, but I do like it.
Best features:
- super small and light
- good clip for attaching to pants or shirt
- supports a bunch of codecs
- useful phone app
- can pair to two devices
- best combination of size, looks, compatibility, and stability for its price range ($100 or less)
- has a built-in mic so that you can enable an "ambient mode" to hear things around you
- supports both balanced and unbalanced outputs
Things I don't like
- not much support since the main developer who helped create it left to do his own thing
- no, that's about it, really

I've heard musings that the IFI Zen Stream is on par with the Innuous Zen Mini for a third of it's askng price. I might dig in.
I was so impressed by my Moondrop Chu, I bought the Aria too
it owns. it is a bit better balanced than the Chu, which was already a very balanced IEM

Yeah Moondrop iems are pretty solid. Only thats weak are the starfields.
Got me a pair of Emotiva B1+ speakers. These shits own
Emotiva just makes solid hardware for the price. They aren't overly fancy and don't have the best looks, but it's all solid and it all works within reasonable tolerances.

I was looking at some Wharefdale and Klipsch speakers but the didnt fit my budget. What speakers do you own?
By Kuma Go To PostI was looking at some Wharefdale and Klipsch speakers but the didnt fit my budget. What speakers do you own?Swan M200 MKIII for the computer and Technics SB-C700 for the TV. With different Rythmik subs for each.
So I have an LG Blu-ray player that doubles as a receiver, it likes to shut off randomly and I have to turn it off at the socket to even get it working again :(
It's out of warranty (bought it second-hand off FB marketplace, lol) so I might open it up and have a look inside.

By Kuma Go To PostWhy didnt you guys tell me speakers were a different experience. Guys are holding out smh
That’s all we do here mate. Love a pair of headphones. But speakers is where the real fun is.
Cheap but good earbuds? They're basically going to live in my backpack and only be used on lunch breaks

What's your music preference
I'm dumb so I ordered some balanced cables for my Audioquest Nighthawk Carbons and Massdrop Plus Universal iem's since that EarStudio I got for Christmas/birthday has balanced output. Probably won't actually do anything other than allow them to get louder, but whatever. I've wanted to try out balanced cables for a while now.
Especially on these short distances I don’t really see the benefit for it. But definitely report back, always good to read impressions.

But both cables together were the price of a single new video game, so just cheap enough for me to try out. And I can always return them for my money back.
Earstudio a neat little device. Got a lot of cool features(EQ ftw). I got the Qudelix5K which is the successor to the Earstudio

I got the Qudelix5K which is the successor to the EarstudioYeah, one of the main guys behind the EarStudio left the company to make the Qudelix. From what I understand, the Qudelix is better at actually playing back audio, but the ES has a better shell and controls.
I haven't used the Qudelix, so I can't say anything about that for sure.
By Kuma Go To PostThe Qudelix button functions are probably the worst of electronic device I ever useoof. my condolences.
Amazon music mobile app is ass. This is make it the third time it deleted all my downloaded music for offline listening.
I was curious as to how loud I listen to music on average (in the morning) and this is what I get.
.
.
First impressions of the balanced cable on the Nighthawk Carbons:
There might be a slight reduction in background noise causing quieter sounds to seem a bit more "present", which could give a "richer/fuller" sound because of overtones and cutoff might be a bit sharper. But that might be because the music playback is a little louder because I don't have fully leveled volume between the balanced and unbalanced outputs and balance defaults to a bit louder.
So, there might be a difference, but my ears/brain can't conclusively tell a difference. I keep going back and forth on it. I'll try listening to just balanced for a couple weeks and then try unbalanced again to see if anything changes.

I use Monster speakers cables. They're American made.
If you can't find them for whatever reason I'd recommend anything from Van Den Hul.

The EarStudio came in clutch during a plane ride this weekend. I was wearing a shirt with a chest pocket so I placed the unit and my headphone wires there and switched between audio from my phone, laptop, and Steam Deck quickly and easily both while at the airport and on the phone.
Definitely was more convenient than plugging in and out of those devices. I also turned on the ambient noise mic so I could hear announcements and that was very useful, too (though it took some adjusting to get the levels to a good setting).

I finally got the EarStudio working properly in Teams using the default driver and not a third party one.
In Windows 11, go to:
Settings
Bluetooth & devices
Devices
Related Settings -> More devices and printer settings
right-click EarStudio -> Properties
Services tab
Then, uncheck Handsfree Telephony. This will make it so that Windows can't use the mic on the EarStudio anymore, but no one who has an EarStudio should be using its mic for anything other than ambient mode. In any case, Teams calls no longer have issues sending audio to the EarStudio now.

Ordered me some of these hybrid IEM tips: https://symbioeartips.com/termek/symbio-f-3pairs/ but off of Amazon for $5 cheaper.
They supposedly use foam like Comply tips but have a silicon shell around them. Should have a seal and comfort level close to Comply foam tips and a durability and ease of cleaning close to silicon tips.
