Meze 109 Pro is speaking to me. Please have mercy on my wallet.
Bought these over the weekend. Should be here soon.

They are beautiful but objectively don't sound as good as they look. Definitely make sure you can get a refund if you buy them and end up not liking their sound.
I also still want a pair because of how good they look. Lol
It's one of the big reasons I bought my Hemps.

By Kuma Go To PostAnyone here have a tube amp?
only for my guitars :(
By Kuma Go To PostThe hemps looks good too. Anyone know a good site for used headphones and amps?Reverb, I think. https://reverb.com/
Bought a new amp. My current one wasn't hitting the spot(am I chasing the dragon? lol). This thing can be used as a speaker amp as well which is cool.
Cool! I liked those Burson units when I still worked at the store. Aside from the sound quality the look and feel of Burson is a plus too imo.
What cool about the Burson stuff is you can roll op amps. Feel like I am one step closer to becoming a tube roller.
@Kibner
The audio on the right side of my headphones completely dropped out. I went through all the standard troubleshooting, tried different cables and audio sources, double checked I didn't spontaneously go deaf in my right ear, etc.
Looked into it further and it seems to be a fairly common fault with AKG K712/K702 headphones. The wires are pretty thin and the connection isn't great, sometimes it comes loose from the solder joint.
So I dissembled to check if the wires needed re-soldering, however both were firmly still attached. I reassembled them, checked to see if they would work. Still no joy.
Then they just randomly started working again.
Pls explain.

Yeah, it could be the tip being too dirty to get a consistent connection. Or a portion of the wire got bent enough that it is partially disconnected. This happened with a recent cable of mine. Just got a new cable and it worked again. I was able to identify it by bending/twisting the wire in various ways until the I got sound again.
e: you tried different cables, but is there an inter-link cable inside the headphone?

By reilo Go To PostDid you check the tip?I suppose it could've been dirt on the jack, or inside the 6.35mm socket on my amp?
A little unusual if it was since it never gets unplugged. However I did unplug multiple times to try different cables.
By HonestVapes Go To PostInterlink cable?Does it have a separate jack for left and right? Or is there just a single jack? If there is just a single jack in the headphone, then there is a cable that connects the left and right drivers. That cable may need to be replaced.

When I opened the sides and looked around in both sides, the solder seems solid on all points.
The interlink between the left and right sides is actually the metal rods that make up part of the headband. Pretty odd design I suppose.
Might be hollow rods with the wire threaded through. Definitely worth checking with a multimeter line Reilo said.

You’d think, but nah. The K712 and K702, maybe some other AKG models all do the same thing and use the metal headband to connect the left and right drivers.
Since last night they’ve been working as normal again so I’ll save digging out the multimeter until they start playing up again.
The K712's were playing up again last night, Decided to retire them until I've got the time to fix them. I used them for everything, music, games, watching YT and even films sometimes when I was on my own. Huge loss for me in that sense.
In the meantime, the only wired headphones I have in the house are a pair of Sony MDR-ZX110. Super budget headphones. I think I paid £12 for them and I gave them to my Dad so he could listen to the rolling stones on his phone, lmao.
They seem alright though, a little too bassy but pretty good considering the price. Definitely better than going back to the wireless Logi headset.

Stuck a spare modmic magnet on the Sony’s. I’m kinda liking them a lot after using them throughout the day.
anyone have recommendations for sub-$100 wired IEM's? need something I can carry around for work, listening to music and silent guitar practice.

The default order is value-independent quality, though you can order by "Value Rating" and do your own filter on price to get a handful of IEMs to look at more closely. The guy who does this values accurate sound above all else and even provides frequency response curves. Comfort does not factor into the rankings, only sound quality.

Very cool site, thanks
looks like it's between the Moondrop Aria and Chu, the Etymotic ER2 is a tiny bit out of budget but also out of stock. going to do some more research and then buy either of those.
Alright I’m in for the long haul with those cheap Sony’s. Upgraded the pads to some with a little more cushion, fake leather on the sides but fabric around the cup. Paid slightly more for new pads than the cost of the headphones.
The sound quality is okay, but the comfort is the real winner for me. If/when I do fix my K712’s, I’ll likely keep the Sony’s on my desk through summer since they’re much lighter and nowhere near as warm on my ears.

I hear ya. I have started to prioritize comfort more than sound lately (as long as the sound is at least "ok"). I typically wear my headphones for long sessions, so comfort is key.
My Grado are an exception but that's just because they look so cool and let me hear as if I am not wearing any headphones at all.

Moondrop Arias are nice. I used to own a pair. Right now is a good time to buy IEM because of the 11/11 sales.
The last time I thought these 'see trough' designs are cool was when I was a kid and got a Gameboy Advance with that kind of look. Matter of taste I guess.
After using my Moondrop Sparks for two months I switched back to my wired IEMs that cost a third of the price of my wireless buds and holy fish sticks. There's no comparison.
I've got an audition lined up for tomorrow.
Kaya S12, RS250 and a mystery Class A amp that outputs 20wps.

Don’t be shy too post what it is the next time so I don’t have to Google every word to see what you’re saying haha
I see those Kaya speakers mostly described as transparant monitors. Studio ambitions?

They're these silly things.

I ended up going for the Moondrop Chu since I'd have to pay an extra $20 just for the mic cable for the Aria, and the tuning doesn't seem to be noticeably better to be worth the price difference.
I am pleased, it sounds incredible.
So after this rodeo I've concluded that I don't need a streamer. Well, I do but not an expensive one. That's a win for me financially.

Do you have test tracks for music?
By Kuma Go To PostDo you have test tracks for music?I dart from bad to good recordings and back and forth. I do love opening with Julia Holter though.
Nice to share those pictures of the demo. Seeing that guy hooking up all the gear sure looks familiar haha. I've dragged so much equipment around the store over the years.
As for the streaming part. From my time at Klubben we didn't had a great variety in streaming. At least not in those more high end streaming devices. But the few we had never really impressed me much more than the Bluesound Node. That 550 euros device is probably one of the best if price/quality matters to you. You really don't need to drop 3K on a streamer imo.
I'm finally going to pick up my new amplifier and streaming module on wednesday. I'll post some pics when it's all set and done.

This talk about streamers just makes me upset that Google killed the chromecast audio puck. Such a nifty $30 device.

I strongly advocate spending those well earned pennies on a monster of a DAC.

As a customer, I genuinely don't like it when staff use the internal DAC for a listening session.

It had only two ports: power and a super neat dual analog 3.5mm / optical out jack. It let you stream to just about any kind of stereo setup. And Google's software also let you sync up the playback on multiple devices in your home, so you could use it like a cheap Sonos setup to have whole-home synced audio, too.
I went to a record store where I came across two monitors from IMF Electronics pumping out tunes. I was immediately taken by the sound.
I asked the staff to remove the grill because I thought that they might be a single driver speaker with a large woofer but it turned out to be a two way design like a vintage KEF.
Mid-range was sweet and the soundstage wide, permeating through the store. But the best thing about them was that they played music effortlessly. And behind all of that, a crappy pioneer amp with Spotify. I literally raised an eyebrow like, are you fucking with me?
This might have been the best sounding cheapest scrounged together stereo that I've come across ever. So yeah kids, don't sleep on vintage stuff and remember that synergy matters.
