Yeah I think that describes it just fine. Great bang for buck brand if you’re looking for that kind of thing. From what I’ve read online over the years Best Buy (Magnolia) usually have some Klipsch configurations in their shops so you can check them out yourself. Assuming you’re based in the US.
When it comes to Reddit they usually show more love for Genelec and Kef setups I’ve noticed. It’s a lot of the same on there to be fair.

By Kuma Go To PostAre there any listening cafes in the states? This thread is the first I have heard of one but I wouldn't be surprised, either way.
Trend started in Tokyo several years ago. Kenrick Sound build all the speakers which are derived from JBL speaker design.

By Kuma Go To PostI wish PS5 had an optical port or limited to what dac I can use. Fucking up my setupThere are hdmi audio extractors you may be able to use. Not sure if they have an affordable one for the most recent standard and hdr protocols, yet.
By Kuma Go To PostI wish PS5 had an optical port or limited to what dac I can use. Fucking up my setupYou’re not only limited in what DAC you can use, you’re also limited by the audio output itself.
Any audio output over USB will produce a 11dB lower digital signal than it would be over HDMI or even through the 3.5mm jack on the pad.
So you might try extracting the audio through the HDMI port instead, either through an extractor device or through the TV. If your intentions are to use 3D audio though, the results are not good.
Very tinny and compressed compared to 3D audio off or 3D audio on when connecting headphones directly to the 3.5mm on the pad.
Basically, it’s all fucked in one way or another. I went through the process last year of trying to get a clean signal out of my PS5 and it was all in vain. I just connect my headphones to the pad now and accept lower than I’d like volume levels for the sake of 3D audio in some games.
Also, been listening to my AudioQuest Nighthawk Carbon the last couple days. It definitely isn't as clean as my other headphones, but it is the comfiest and works really darn well for anything where you actually want booming and resonating bass. Like movies and (some) music with emphasis on bass drums and/or bass guitar.
Something is wrong with my amp because the transformers aren't heating up. Will have to do some troubleshooting.
Any recs for desktop monitors? Mostly for playing guitar when direct lined in from my amp, so need something neutral. Ideally < $300 for a pair that connects to an interface.

Haven’t seen the video yet. But that’s the kind of demo we’ve been doing for people all those years. If anyone came in for a soundbar I would always ask them if it’s primary intended use would be music listening. And then I’d compare a pair of active speakers for half the price to any given soundbar and watch people being surprised af.
Recently had a go at the KEF LS60 Wireless and even though they were mesmerizing to look at, the longer I listened to them the more I realized that everything was flat. There was no layering, instrument separation was pretty abysmal and that string and percussion instruments didn't sound true to life. It also shat out bad recordings and sometimes even good ones. Simply put, the magic was never present in the room.

I still really appreciate the look of my Technics SB-C700 speakers. I have the black version. They look and sound great, to me. No complaints whatsoever.

Those look clean as fuck holy shit
By Kuma Go To PostThose look clean as fuck holy shitHah, thanks! Sadly, they are discontinued. Terrific, wide sound with just a tiny bit of tuning required to make the mids louder.
By Kuma Go To PostI want some nice outdoor speakersI do not have any experience in that. Sorry. :(
Fuck it, I bought the audio interface I have been looking at for over a year now. It will replace two other pieces of gear on my desk. Hopefully I can sell them for a decent price to recoup some of the costs.
By reilo Go To PostThat's a LOT of I/O LOLIt's mostly for the mixture of inputs, tbh. My mic, another line-in for me to use when learning how to play bass using Rocksmith (gf is doing the same with lead/rhythm guitar), and also plugging in a console to my desktop setup. I have an hdmi audio splitter that puts the output over optical and I can plug that into the interface, too, and mix it with whatever is going on in my desktop (music, Hulu, discord, etc).
What are you going to use all the line outs on?
For output, I am just going to have it going to my headphones and my desktop speakers.
I took another leap of faith and ordered the Metrum Acoustics Jade. Long time in the making because much thought went into this purchase. Years, actually. In theory it should take my stereo to new avenues and I can't wait to hear the difference.
