Several of my devices have ports in the front and back and I'm considering ordering some right-angle connectors for them so that I can have a slightly cleaner looking setup.
Just received the hyperx cloud twos to along with my production m40x. Will replacement pads alter the sound signature too much?

Sounds like you didn't make it passed the firmware update /s
The orignal model works fine as a streamer with no real bugs in the software. The DAC portion of it was less than stellar. If you solely purchased it for its single ended headphone amp then you fucked up. It's not that kind of Swiss army knife.

After using them for like a month+, I can confirm that the Grado Hemps are overpriced. Unless you really like how they look, which I do, so I'm happy with them. Have been able to get them to fit pretty comfortably now (no pinching on ears), but the headband leaves room to be improved so I'll probably get an aftermarket one.
They still sound great, mind you, but probably more in the $200-300 USD range if that's all you care about. I also still absolutely adore how open they are. Has made wearing headphones while carrying on conversations much easier.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostNode 2i was the biggest piece of shit I've bought. Returned that thing in a few days… just awful.
Truly curious what you expected it to do for you haha. I have been using the Node 2i since release and it’s predecessor before it as my main stream unit for the stereo setup. And it’s simply a great piece of tech. And it sounds so much better than direct competitors like Sonos and Denon (HEOS).

The process of getting it running with the terrible app was horrendous and when I did set it up, there was a lot of cracks and pops when music was streaming through it. Perhaps it was a busted unit.
Go into your Node settings and turn off the clock. This will fix your problem.
A better DAC will either handle clock jitter better or mute whenever the clock is not locked (causing a little gap). Still this is usually less likely to occur when using USB as it's an asynchronous interface but you won't have a USB out on the Bluesound.

Sounds like you bought your Node from Ali Express. All jokes aside, that is absolutely not the experience Bluesound should give you. Something was wrong with either the unit or the cable. Which can happen to any good product at the end of the day sadly.
The app works really well, but I can admit they can still improve on that. If you know a thing or two about computers and smart products in general it’s a breeze really. But I can see how it can be a bit convoluted for people that are not so much into tech. Sonos definitely does better when it comes to that aspect. Even your grandma can get the hang of the Sonos app fairly easy so to say.
I’m on the bluesound eco system for around 5 years now and having seen the product improve throughout the years. I really can’t imagine any other streamer anymore. Well unless I want to spend premium money, then there might be something better out there.

All this talk is just making me more and more sad that Google discontinued the Chromecast Audio. Such a great little puck with both analog and optical out on the same port.
It definitely was the best budget solution out there. No idea why they ever discontinued it. At the price you take the disconnects etc for granted.

Mad how people are wedded to electronics that if someone doesn't like a certain device there must be something wrong with them.

Haha, I’m not saying that about you. That’s a criticism for the app in general. It’s quite clear that your own reason to call the app horrendous is most likely about the UI choices they’ve made. Bluesound can be a bit counter intuitive at first and that’s absolutely something they can improve on. And for the not so tech savvy it’s just hard to get the hang of it at all. Whereas Sonos is the kind of product you can safely recommend to anyone.
And well, your experience with the product in general got compromised by the unit not working to your expectations at all. Which I feel sorry for. It always sucks when you’re excited about your new purchase and it doesn’t do anything for you as you would have hoped it would pan out.
EDIT
Also to give you a short example of something I’ve seen in the store. A man came back with his bluesound unit because tidal streaming wasn’t working. And he definitely was logged on to the tidal app and got himself a subscription. As it turned out he never added Tidal inside the bluesound app. He simply logged onto tidal on his PC and expected everything to work from there. I think a nice addition to the installation process would be to force people to pick a streaming service and log in. Or at least have the possibility to do so as a mandatory step during installation.

I had it as a direct input to my audio system.
And it was only like $30! And supported multi - room audio!
Sadly, it was replaced by the Google Nest, which is the worst for my use case.
I know, but it's nice to look at something while you're listening to music. Cover art etc. At least for me anyway.
My mixer supports audio over ethernet. There doesn't seem to be any native support for that on Windows, though. :(
It may have even lower latency than audio over USB. I would need an add-in card that has Windows support to make use of it, though.

Love this video haha
I really felt him calling out he mostly listens indie rock and post punk. Why don’t I listen to classical music? Because I don’t! That’s me.
The one problem I have is that it's Onkyo. I've had AV sync with them in the past so it's not the receiver I was opt for. Still gonna wait for Denon or others to announce and release their latest offerings.
Yeah if you want a broken HDMI board a few years down the line this is a viable option. But otherwise I'd wait.
My first two channel system consisted of a Sansui AU-D9 amplifier, Marantz CD player (which I still have) and some shoddy bookshelves from B&W.
Dad had Dynaudios.
Lovely video from John with the beginner set-up. My first set-up consisted of a pair of Jamo speakers paired with a big Pioneer stack. My first new set-up consisted of the NAD D3020 paired with Dali Opticon 2 fed by the Bluesound Node 2.
Going to buy a CD player now from a co worker for my livingroom set-up. A Rotel RCD-961 in near mint condition. I haven't owned a CD player since parting with my Pioneer stack way back. I have around 50 CD's, so not too much. But I've never had a chance to listen to them on my set-up. So it seems like a fun addition for the hobby.

Very very tempted
That's the perfect price for that amp

That and it remains cheap and readily available anywhere. Always wanted to get the Hegel transport because in some instances it sounded better than my turntable.

I'm back in the market for a dap because I've been doing so much commuting lately and my ears need a massage from point A to B.
I dunno, I love good sound. But I feel like bluetooth + a decent pair of headphones/IEM's does the job for me. When I'm on the road I prefer convenience over extra devices. I'm going to get the Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 once our stock allows staff purchases. Good quality wireless buds is the only thing I'm actually lacking right now. Especially on hot summer days I prefer those over my bulky over ear headphones.
Bluetooth has developed to become good enough for one-way audio when latency doesn't matter. It is only when it tries to do both mic and output that the bandwidth limitations are noticeably reached for one or the other (or both in some cases).
The vast majority of people love convenience and want everything under the sun. Having grown up in the discman era, I don't mind cables at the behest of superior audio quality.
Added the Rotel RCD-961 to my livingroom setup today. Sadly my spare RCA cable (entry level AQ cable) was too short so I went with a coaxial cable I still had lying around. And I’m very pleased with how it all sounds and operates. It’s been in use for well over 15 years but it functions as if it’s brand new. Depending on recordings and specific CD’s it’s able to outperform my Bluesound Node streaming Tidal CD quality files. I don’t think I will buy a lot of new cds since I enjoy vinyl much more. But for 70 euros I simply couldn’t pass up on the opportunity of adding a great sounding CD transport to my setup. Considering I now have streaming, a CD player and a record player that basically also concludes the journey for all standard different source materials you might wanna use in a speaker setup.
Attached it and put it on and it fits so good again. Definitely the most comfortable pair of headphones I have ever tried. I will probably eventually have to figure out a way to replace the headband in the future with a DIY part or something since they aren't being made anymore.

You know how it is, on some days you're only into vinyl and at night you stream everything because you're lazy af. I come back to cd's every now and then too.

Sweet! Glad it arrived in perfect shape. Enjoy dude.
And as far as I know we still have some left in good old Denmark for now.

Kibs do you have the Nighthawk Carbon?
Kibs do you have the Nighthawk Carbon?
By Kuma Go To PostKibs do you have the Nighthawk Carbon?Yup! Bought it shortly after it was discontinued as I was able to get it for $300 instead of the MSRP $600. It is honestly right in line with headphones of about the $4-500 price range, as far as audio quality is concerned. But I mainly got it for comfort and it absolutely excels at that.
I think I will be wearing the Nighthawks during work hours for the comfort and also to be slightly isolated (it is semi-open) and then switch to the Hemps after work and during weekends so that I can better hear and talk to my gf while we are in the same room.

What genre of music do they excel at play well? If I remember correctly you these was dark sounding right?
