Destiny 2 On PC Is A Lonely Experience
When playing online you’re thrown into lobbies of up to 16-players, but they might as well be bots. The moment you want to communicate with someone, you’re out of luck. There’s no general chat to type in like you see in virtually every other lobby-based multiplayer game, and you sure as heck can’t use voice chat in this environment.
It’s to a point where it's normal to play the game for dozens of hours without every communicating with another player, which is bizarre when you consider how social the Halo franchise was when Bungie was still involved
It’s perplexing that such a big multiplayer game release in 2017 is structured in this way. Actually, I’d go as far as to say that you shouldn’t bother picking it up on PC unless you have a few friends who you can play with, because Destiny 2 is not the sort of game you want to lonewolf, and making gme friends the "normal way" is next to impossible.http://www.ebaumsworld.com/articles/destiny-2-on-pc-is-a-lonely-experience/85501455/
This applies to consoles too, I still don’t understand what’s the philosophy behind not having a text chat in game, people are forced to use other sites to team up, bungie please.
Dumb as hell. Mans should be taking cues from MGS4 MGO when it comes to text chat and premade text messages.
This shit is so dumb, one of my biggest gripes. I've lost so many Heroic PEs because I can't tell blueberries wtf to do. Lost so many chances at interactions with random players who played will. No public channel greatly inhibits the community.
Have to agree with this thus far. It's really lonely unless you already have friends playing it.
There needs to be public chats and easier ways to suddenly join in a fireteam and whatnot.

What's bizarre is that there is a chat box in-game, but is restricted to your fireteam and friends, that's it. Surely they wondered how people would communicate, no?
Bungle can be bewilderingly backwards - Working with Blizzard for 3 years you'd think they'd know better
With all the above said, I don’t want to play with randos, I want to play with my friends.
I’m not saying they shouldn’t have the functionality, just that I wouldn’t use it even if they did.

That's, uh, certainly an interesting decision. You would think that a game with a big focus on the community and the whole social aspect would...actually have a way to be social with other players. And according to the article even clans can't communicate with each other?
