By Lupercal Go To PostThey kind of killed him with that awful, awful theme and Heyman hanging around a bit until Brock was back also did him dirty.I could totally see Cesaro making an appearance on Raw tomorrow night as one of their surprises. When is the draft supposed to be, anyway? It's usually not long after Mania.
Glad he's finally getting his due, him v Lashley could be great.
Lashley retaining opens up a lot of fun possibilities and fresh matchups on the Raw side. I don't discount the possibility that they bring Finn back up to challenge Bobby, either, after he did the honors for Kross.
Banks Vs Belair was excellent. Sasha has been one of the best wrestlers in the world for the last 3/4 years and Belair is an athletic freak. She has no right to be as good as she is given her relative inexperience. That hair whip to Banks was vicious and actually cut her open. Just a shame the booking of the feud was piss poor. They started their feud too late and I'm still not sure what the motivation for either was.
That's been a problem for a lot of the more recent WrestleMaina cards. This is supposed to be the show piece of the calender for WWE. But instead of long building feuds climaxing at Mania we're getting 4 weeks of rushed build up. Same has happened to Owens/Zayn. This is a 20 year friendship/rivalry that was give a few promos to hype up and nothing else.
The wrestlers are doing a brilliant job in the ring. Every match last night was fun and entertaining. They're being let down by the writers.

The problem is the two ppvs they cram in between the Rumble and Mania now. They need to get rid of Fastlane and give their WrestleMania stories more time to cook. I think the only story that they've truly told well for this whole weekend is tonight's main event, the Bryan/Edge/Roman triple threat.
At this point you just have to realize this is how WWE trains the wrestlers. I haven't watched WWE in about 6 years but it's always the same shit. 364 days its a garbage product, wrestlers give it their all at WM and then people get back into it only to be disappointed when you begin to realize that they have no one who can actually write.

WWE leans a lot on some pre-established rivalries from NXT and the Indies to carry their shit/nonexistant storytelling

The writing week to week is so suspect, but the in-ring action is as good as ever.
Think that SmackDown has been really watchable for a while now, though, basically since Roman came back. Raw, I can't be bothered to watch because it's just not nearly as good. Even the 90 minute Hulu version can be tough to sit all the way through.
Don't click if you haven't watch Mania yet.
These are two of the best spots I've seen in a while. Highlights Belair's freakish athleticism and Sasha's ingenuity.

this whole plot w/ Randy/Alexa/Bray is everything I hate about the modern product and they have wasted a whole lot of fucking time on it over the last year
By domino Go To Postthis whole plot w/ Randy/Alexa/Bray is everything I hate about the modern product and they have wasted a whole lot of fucking time on it over the last yearI just want them to stop wasting the dwindling number of Orton matches we have left on Bray. The Fiend sucks, his matches suck, the red light sucks, the only thing I enjoyed about him was losing to Goldberg in two minutes.
I feel the same with AJ. The guy is 44 in a few months and doesn't have that many years left. He's still the.best wrestler in the company and can be doing so much more than mid card tag team feuds.

My only hope is that they seem intent of having AJ do everything, so maybe he wins Money in the Bank and goes up the card again.
You're right about his place on TV. He's always involved in some way or another so that probably tells us he's held in high regard.
He hasn't been involved in a high profile singles feud since Daniel Bryan. That led to a fantastic match but it nearly a year ago now.

AJ's on his victory lap at this point. I think his top belt days are over unless its in a role like Edge/DBry last night
Samoa Joe, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Mickie James, Chelsea Green, Tucker, Kalisto, Wesley Blake and Bo Dallas have all been fired by WWE. They've cited budget reasons for the releases but WWE is making money hand over fist.
Very disappointed by the Joe release. Obviously he's had injury problems, but he's always been good on commentary and was one of their most over wrestlers when he was healthy.

hate that about Joe and the IIconics
Joe's great at everything, and the IIconics were funny as hell even if they werent great in-ring
I figured Bo was gone long ago.

I half guess Joe's was a request. He's making money outside of the E, and they probably want a cut.
I dont know. Joe can go to AEW, NJPW, Impact, ROH, CM Punk's twitter account, etc. Joe can go pretty much anywhere he wants.

Sooooo
Kenny Omega beat Rich Swann for the Impact World Championship last night. He's now heavyweight champion for two of the three biggest wrestling companies in America.
Gotta say, the booking for the AEW/Impact collision hasn't always been great, but this is the right move and will hopefully drive up interest in both companies.

Andrade made his debut for AAA in Mexico last night and challenged Kenny Omega for his AAA World Heavyweight title.
So that's gonna be a huge deal.

A Daniel Bryan world tour in 2022 could be magical. He'd have MOTY contenders with Okada, Ospreay, Omega, Ibuchi, Tanahashi etc. Would get a decent amount of money for that too.
Or he could re-sign with WWE and milk them for every penny. He doesn't have many peak years left and he has a young family to look after. Either way he's in a good position.

More releases from WWE. Strowman is a mind boggling one especially. He was Universal Champion last year and one of their more popular wrestlers. Black and Murphy were badly misused but both should be picked up by AEW/TNA/NJPW without much bother. Black looked like he was taking his character in a new direction too.
Oh boy, it's going to be fun seeing Mcintyre vs Lashley all year.
Aren't they making more money than ever these days?

Aleister Black about to be All Elite. AEW going to make these misused wrestlers into stars. See Miro for example.

DO NOT read if you don't want to be spoiled on Daniel Bryan's next move, which is a few days away:
He's currently at my friend's house with a small crew shooting a clip with Ted DiBiase. Bryan is in a swimming pool with some chick for NXT.

Yeah, Andrade is the first and he was a guy that got his release prior to all the layoffs. His was also interesting because he had a non-compete unlike everyone else or the rare times wwe grants a release. Other than his relationship with Charlotte Flair, you have to imagine that he why he got special treatment in his circumstance.
Who comes in from the April, May, and June layoffs will be interesting. AEW or Tony Khan most importantly cannot bring in everyone. He will have to be very selective.

I agree that the AEW roster is becoming quite packed but there's always room for exceptional wrestlers, which is what Andrade is. Also, Alastair Black/Tommy End could easily transition to the main event scene in AEW. He has a unique look/aesthetic and is a top quality wrestler.
Buddy Murphy is a fantastic wrestler, but doesn't really have a character and is a bit Kenny Omega lite in his move set. He'd be a worthy addition to AEW but I don't think he's main event level. Would be great at IMPACT or even for a run with the Jr Heavyweights in New Japan.

Yeah based off the signings TK is going after main event level stars wasted in WWE. They have more than enough steady hands for the midcard. It would be foolish of them to not sign guys like Andrade just because of roster bloat. I think for guys like Buddy Murphy they can go to Impact or NJPW and still work with AEW due to their partnerships.
