By joefu Go To PostMan… I never played Xenosaga or xenogears. Wonder how many references and callbacks I'm missing out on.xenosaga has needed a remake for a decade lol
Would be nice if Xenosaga got some HD remakes. Wasn't too into RPGs when those games dropped. And I only remember watching bits and pieces of Gears when my older bro was playing it.
Did you finish chapter 7? Because wew. Probably my favorite chapter so far.
1 was really good, 2 was forgiveable i guess, but the 3 was a classic
chapter 7 gets reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal xenosaga'y
xenogears is outstanding (fuck u haters, disc 2 is still better than the last 8 final fantasys) but dear god going back to a time with random boss battles is rough
Went on ahead and grabbed this yesterday. Dumped almost 5 hours into it without realizing it. Ya’ll weren’t kidding about this being anime as fuck but it’s in a very endearing way. The cutscenes are awesome and the voices are surprisingly great. LOVE the accents. Gameplay is pretty great too and seems a lot less impenetrable than XCX was its first 10 hours.
No complaints at all yet.

By DY_nasty Go To Posttfw you land that first full burst on unique monsterI got one on a UM and did over 1.4 million and it did less than 20% of it's health. Then I died lol
Also I wanted to continue story stuff, but instead fell into sidequest hell. I haven't advanced story in almost a week.
Sane thing happened to me lol.
I'm almost at the end man.... everything from chapter 7 and on is game of the year shit. Where they go with the story is fuuuuuuuu

Pushed through the ending just now.
This game makes you feel so bad for everyone 😭 last boss was so xenosaga it hurt
Looking forward to dlc in a jrpg god the first time ever. Such a great game.

there are some sidequests that just aren't worth detouring hard for. that crane quest is basically a tutorial on multi-stage guest layouts. Fuck it lol
I don't think I finished it in the chapter I received either.
There's another quest where you have to navigate to secret areas in two different continents you've yet to explore... just finish them as you can, not necessarily as you get them.

What was your final playtime Dy? And are you still sidequesting?
Here I am still not advancing the story 90 hours in. Currently working on all these rare blade sidequests I have. Really enjoy how much personality all the blades have.

I was somewhere around 110 hours maybe but it's hard to say because of idle time and the home glitch.
There was a point before chapter 7 where I just stopped progressing the story completely for a few days straight lol. Right now I'm just turning Poppi into the gawd machine and inching along with some minor gear grinds so I can start tackling these endgame bosses. That giant monkey outside of Gormott is about to get laid the Fuck out. Vendetta season

Finally finished chapter 8 last night. Hopefully I can finish the story this weekend. I'm sure I'll get sidetracked again...
The Switch game log said I'm 100 hours or more. Haven't put this much time into an RPG since XBX.
I honestly think this is my 2017 GOTY

again - its not a bullshit 100+ hours like persona 5 either lol. there's a dumb amount of quality content to this game
also chapter 7 was nothing but feels
poppi is the homie

Poppi is awesome. The disrespect she shows Tora is great.
Too bad the later party member is a better tank. Maybe I should switch Poppi to heals or something

i was running double tanks for a while - its possible, but especially moreso because you end up focusing everything towards building chain attacks and full bursts as the main way to take everything down. flat damage from attackers isn't quite as necessary. a lot of it is based off of accessories and setup as you go though.
Yeah, I really need to mess with party comps. Right now I just use Rex and Pyra's new ability and rip through stuff lol. Feels like cheating.
killed that fucking monkey btw
i need emotes to dance on his grave. the people of torigoth will sleep soundly tonight

Feels like cheating.it pretty much is lol. and it kinda sucks because after a certain point you're handicapping yourself if you're NOT putting rex in the party. he gets stupid op
Right now, I can chain combo his abilities endlessly. I did spinning slash 4 times in a row before I got bored and used a special lol.
By joefu Go To PostRight now, I can chain combo his abilities endlessly. I did spinning slash 4 times in a row before I got bored and used a special lol.it gets ridiculous lol - if you push rex towards a high crit chance build (you should), then equip stuff that gives you hp recovery on crit, you prettttttttttttttty much can only die when something much higher level decides to ignore your tank and make a concentrated effort to one shot you, burst you down, or CC you into the dirt with status effects. VERY few enemies have the ability to do those things though.
that being said, tora/poppi can be absurdly strong if you put the time into Tiger!Tiger!. A lot of time. I'm almost ashamed of how much time I put into it. Especially once I noticed you can push Y to convert items you've received into currency.
I need to get back into Tiger! Tiger! I perfected the first two levels and was done lol. Haven't even checked it out after the easymode dropped.
Man, reading what people say about this game is kinda funny. The combat isn't that hard, nor are the numerous systems that complicated. I don't get it. What don't people understand?
Is XB2 combat going to become a meme?

What don't people understand?people are weird. once you beat the game and see what people are complaining about regarding the story is even weirder.

the combat though... the combat is only 'hard' in chapters 3/4 and again around 7-8. And even then, its not hard - it just holds you accountable. But then again people were crying saying that FF13's battle system was just auto-battle and win while getting smacked up nonstop at the same time. XB2 is a challenging game when you don't play it right. In that sense, I guess it could be better if they kept the tutorials in a menu that you could refer to or something. Even then, if this game were any easier at all it'd be complete auto-pilot. It walks a really fine line.
I also see some people saying the combat is worse than the first game... Like how? It's not fun scrolling left and right trying to remember which attack was which.
Also saw complaints saying they had to grind too much... Uh how? You can sleep in the Inn and get 10 levels instantly lol
The tutorial are fine. If they explained too much people would have complained saying it was holding their hands. I guess you get what you put into it, which makes it so great.

I had to STOP going to inns lol
But yeah, it's hard to just take a general litmus test on stuff anymore

Bruh only in the start of Ch.5
But the fact that I got a 3rd party member who can use cores feels nice.
Also Ch4 spoils the fact that there are different levels of poppis got me already thinkin bout what roles I wanna do with the first two.

I'm not sure which Titan has my favorite theme. I really liked daytime Mor Ardain, but Leftherian Archipelago kinda makes me feel stuff for some reason lol.

I'm probably going to buy the OST today. The back half of the game has outstanding music. A1 stuff. The last few areas in particular are amazing.
By joefu Go To PostIs it *for* sale anywhere?i thought i could lol. apparently its not sold outside of the special edition yet

Daytime Mor Ardain sounds like some Wild ARMS shit for real.
LOVE IT!!!
On Chapter 4 and loving it. Everything that I wanted out of a sequel to Xenoblade 1. Don't really care for most GOTY discussions but it's kinda of a bummer that it came out at the end of the year, feel that it hurt it's chances of appearing in more year end lists specially with how long the main quest is.
I don't really read resetera often, but have been reading a thread about P5 vs XBC2 and it's kinda funny.
I didn't play P5, bit watched my roommate play through a large chunk of it. I don't think I would have liked that game. Watching P5 did make me finish TMS#FE and that game was awesome.

It's Switch's Final Fantasy XII.
In a few years people there will be articles about how this game is actually better than the reception that's given when it was released.
Triggered by that FF12 comparison lol
But yeah the entire x series floats between odd releases, being underrated, then vastly overrated, then forgotten, then praised as god's gift to rpgs. All of it true though.

Dang... people would really miss out on a lot of stuff in the last chapter if they didn't play XB1. man, was not expecting this.
But on the flip-side, I wonder how many references I'm missing from Xenogears and Saga...
