Splatoon is a monster in Japan. It will become the best selling SKU of 2017 by year's end. Zelda is less strong in Japan than in the rest of the world historically but BotW is showing amazing legs and has already outsold the majority titles in the franchise.

There's a very real chance that Splatoon will end up selling more than the combined Dragon Quest XI SKUs. It will also likely outsell Monster Hunter World in Japan. It has a chance of hitting 2 million before the next game for the Switch hits 1 million (likely Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Odyssey). It's kind of a big deal.

GTS should easily outsell it, almost x3 more copies sold in the UK, rest of the world should be similar if not bigger, legs of both will be interesting though.

Sony should release a road map of gtsport with free and paid content updates to show some confidence about the future like driveclub did. If they don't support gtsport wel, it can break the confidence of the ip and future installments

On a side note pokken is staying in the charts for way longer than I thought it would. Wonder how good its holiday bump will be.

I don't think you need to worry much about whether or not Switch will get a huge bump next week. I'm expecting similar or larger stock than the Splatoon 2 opening week. The only question is if Nintendo will continue to stock Switch 50k+ per week from now on or if there will be a few more weeks of 30k sales before the holiday season.

Thanks for the info. It's disappointing to me because I heard that Evil Within 2 was a better game overall than the original. I know that the target market wasn't really Japan looking at Steamspy sales of the first game.

The ps4 have a good year, propably it's best in Japan. But they are missing a big game for the holiday in Japan to really hold it. In the end it wil stil be a decent year. With the big releases in 2018 Q1 for japan it wil have a strong start. But i Think after al those releases the ps4 will go downhill and it have to wait for kh3 and ff7r for never to come out.

As someone who got addicted to the GTS beta, i still can't understand how they thought that releasing a game so short of content for 60$/€ after 4 years was enough. Most mismanaged IP since the PS3 gen.

I was in yodabashi in Yokohama yesterday and they had signs of first come first serve for the odyssey bundle. For the 15min I was there I counted about 25 sold and I was there during the opening hour. Idea lots of accessories sold too. Funny, the parents I saw were more excited grabbing Switch stuff than their kids.

Hints on those Japanese MC blogs are that Odyssey might hit 500k 1st week.
