I haven't been romantically ghosted but had a friend or two drop off. Assumed I either pissed them off or they're just into a different crowd now or reasons. Didn't think on it too long or hard since it's all conjecture. I got a bunch of other people in my social circle so it's whatever. I have seen plenty of my friends try to tell someone after a couple dates like "yeah it's not working out" or "i found someone" and here comes a blitz of questions about why, wasn't I good enough, or outright weird threats and shit. It just takes that a couple times for people to say fuck it and they don't really reply hoping each new person finds a new obsession during the silence.

One of the better realizations I came to is that you aren't that significant to other people. Which is depressing but also... you aren't that significant so chill the fuck out.

People in general are just kind of shit at communicating and keeping up with it and take people existing along with them for granted. I don't even say this with bitterness, it just is what it is.
