As they seemingly are closed for invites (the ResetERA Discord), i've PM'd Knuckle Sandwich regardless inquiring about the vetting process and all that. However, i'm more than happy to wait for when ResetERA opens to all (if someone has the website address, would love to check it out as a lurker for the time being).
However, from the short amount of time i've been here, it's a great community from what i've seen and i'm happy to stay here and contribute. Someone said yesterday that Slaent might be the best of both worlds place, and i can certainly see why.
Agreed. And from my short time here, moderation is done wonderfully. And just judging by the list of who they chose to mod on Resetera, it's going to be GAF part 2, which I have no interest in.

By this weekend NeoGAF is probably going to be operating without a ton of those users or posts as if nothing happened. Minus the obvious changes to the number of users and communities. I managed to get verified for resetera. Don't think it'll pull me away from slaent especially due to footySlaent, but I'll certainly look at it and give feedback to y'all.

But that comes with the territory. Look NeoGaf had almost 200,000 users. I'm estimating about 3-4K ended up in the discords at the absolute most. That's less than 2% of that population which doesn't even include the lurkers. Those groups will attack the first week or so and get bored because there's nothing of value there they want to discuss. Waypoint doesn't get attacked, this board doesn't get attacked. I'm not saying it won't be but the idea that these people are going to spend the rest of their waking moments attempting to tear down resetera is a bit exaggerated. I would say open it up, ban accordingly, and move on. Most of those people you are talking about only care about the gaming site and are likely still over at NeoGaf and they've been approving new members in mass so they are still close to the 200,000 mark anyway.

Yeah I know, that's what I'm saying the people involved in GG are there primarily for the games. After the first week of trolling resetera it will get old for the vast majority of them and they will continue hanging out at NeoGAF. Going through a ton of hoops to avoid a community that has no interest in being involved with you beyond the first week doesn't seem necessary. Ban accordingly and move on. IMO
Hearing some confirmation that EL or a mod was using PM search to ban people mentioning ResetEra or discord in their PMs.
Also there's around 15k verified people moving over between all the discords at this point, although that probably includes some duplicates.

With the short time I've been on Slaent, I've come to like the layout & feel like there's good potential here. I'll probably be posting on both forums since a few of my former groups & favorite users are already on here & a lot more of the communities I follow plan on joining ResetEra.
Obviously it's too early to tell how any of this stuff will shake out, but ultimately I just want to go to wherever I can keep in touch with the groups I was a part of on GAF. So whether that's Slaent, ResetEra, Discord channels, etc. - I'm keeping my options open.

I feel that, what most of us former GAF members are missing, is a sense of community.
EL is not the one who made GAF great. It were the one's that made threads regarding important game shattering news.
It were the one's who replied in threads on a respectful manner, without hating on someone else's opinion or taste.
I am not saying that SL&ENT does not have that sense of community. I also haven't even been long enough on this forum to get all judgemental on the hard working admin's and mods that have build this forum from the ground up. I couldn't have done what they did on here. Probably would never find the 'love' for it.
If, in the upcoming weeks, SL&ENT starts to have huge community threads and up to date threads about anything gaming related, I can boldly say that a lot of people will probably stay here and not even look towards ResetERA. Because probably the only reason why people are hoping to get aboard the train towards ResetERA, are the people hoping to get back the same sense of community GAF had in the good old days.

Yeah, I actually really like this site, so if I don't get on ResetEra early it's no big deal.
Yeah, I remember one time hearing that the moderation on the gaming side of GAF was affected by Stinkles' presence because he felt like it wasn't being a safe space for Xbox One's original DRM policies. I mean, that was probably a not insignificant factor in neutering discussion to some extent, but at least the good guys still won in those days (thanks Mortimer, you ate your eventual ban like a champ).
