One reason is that it's kind of a dick move for thousands of users to leave one forum and flood into another. More members is great for a forum, but you don't want the community you've built to suddenly be upended by a bunch of people with their own way of doing things. NeoGAF had some pretty specific habits, like new game OTs. Does SL&ENT really want every new big name game to have a thread filled with screenshots and fanmade marketing material?
So yeah, I just want to thank SL&ENT for putting up with us. Y'all seem like a cool community, and I'm definitely keeping an eye on it in. I may hang out here for a while, but if not, thanks for helping those of us trying to reconnect with our community.
And on that note, looks like I should head to the Discord to sign up for Resetera? Omw...

I think I am technically verified but be interesting to see how it works out with the invite occuring during the day US time now. I heard it is going to be a short window and that will be the early AM for me.

again, we're not trying to replace gaf but we're more than willing to accommodate people here at slaent - those who are a community in transit, and those who want to set up shop here. its all good, circumstances for all of this are crazy. many have made requests (small and signifcant) to the format of this site and we're absolutely cool with making arrangements as well
however
we're trying to direct people to any particular site. wherever people want to go and rebuild, they're free to do so.

There is a Discord app for Android I'm using. I assume there's one on iOS too. Its easy to register and set up.

I'm not a part of reset or anything but like.... there's a lot of moving parts in this and along with implied communication as well.
People trying to help and those openly and actively seeking it are often the easiest targets for exploitation. That's a fact. Again, I'm not trying to tell anyone how to run their stuff, but we've already worked very, very hard to minimize as much damage as we can from here. All I want to do, all I effectively can do, is emphasize the necessity for security of personal information.
