Yu's ERA could have been 22.

Sorry, Hockeytown.
The Houston Astros may be World Series champions, but the Los Angeles Dodgers are the favorites to win next year's MLB title, according to the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook.
Westgate opened the Dodgers as 5-1 favorites, with Clayton Kershaw and a strong lineup returning. Bob Scucci, director of race and sports for Boyd Gaming Corp., told ESPN that it opened the Dodgers at 4-1.
"We opened Los Angeles as the favorite because of the quality of the team and other factors, like our proximity to L.A. and their popularity," John Murray, associate manager at Westgate, told ESPN. "Houston is every bit as good and almost as young as the Dodgers, but they just don't attract the betting attention the Dodgers and Cubs do."
The Cleveland Indians and Astros are tied at 6-1, followed by the Washington Nationals at 7-1 and New York Yankees at 8-1. The Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs, two other playoff teams, are next at 10-1.
The Detroit Tigers have the worst odds to win the 2018 World Series at Westgate at 300-1.
Sorry, Hockeytown.

Lakers lost one in 08, wonder what happened in 09 + 10. Sad as shit but we got a good team to keep us going and I doubt the money will stop coming in. This is not like the 90s-00s where the ownership was simply happy to keep the payroll as low as possible while still having a massive fanbase/franchise.
Congratulations once again to the Astros, beating the three biggest payrolls in the league. Hope this championship helps to heal some of the hurt that Houston has had to unfortunately live through.

We still have awesome young talent yet to supplement the team.

I still cant believe it the Astros are the champs! Gonna spend the next few days getting as many Houston chronicles Astros champion papers as possible for my friends and family!
I feel gutted. I was a year younger than my oldest son when the Dodgers last won it all. I remember it, but it's been so dang long. Aside from Real Salt Lake winning the MLS Cup, that's the last time one of my teams has won a championship. I wanted this one so badly.

Wait you're not from LA? Lakers have won 5 chips, Kings have won 2, and LA Galaxy have won 5 since the Dodgers won. These last couple of years is as close we get to a drought chip wise.

WAIT You don't like the LA Kings?
Kersh made it a point to see the Cubs celebrate the NLCS in 2016. I hope he watched the Astros celebrate the WS. He will get his ring, pitching in blue.
It's also starting to hit me that we won't have baseball till March. Thanks Dodgers Slaent. I'll be back to freak out then.

Hey, it has to start somewhere. My family on my mom's side were huge Dodgers fans even before they made LA home. My mom used to watch Dodger games when she was a kid in Mexico as she was raised in the Valenzuela era, she's probably the one that gets most nervous during these types of games. My family, including me grew up idolizing Lasorda and co. So the roots run deep to this team.
Woke up depressed. Best players in the squad sucking this World Series really takes the wind out of you.
Anyway, thanks Slaent for letting this former GAFfer hang out here during the World Series. I'll see you in March in time for spring training.

Still crushed, but Houston just made less mistakes. LA had their opportunities but couldn't cash in on em.
See ya next year 😞

I said it a few pages pack. Roberts made a lot of little mistakes, and there was some questionable base running decisions as well by the Dodgers.
I also said the Astros had not lost 2 games a row in the WS. Dodgers have 🙂

Mid February.

Leaving him in to pitch the second was a catastrophic mistake. Going to Morrow in game 5 was also a big miscalculation.
Oh yeah, pitchers and catchers in February woohoo!!
I really don't think putting Darvish in was a bad idea. He's a good pitcher, but he just shat the bed, which no one would have expected. Gotta agree with you on the game 5 Morrow decision though.
If anything our offense was also sleeping this series. You have guys like Seager, Turner, and Bellinger that decided this series was the time to not hit. Seager and Bellinger also showed their youth by not making adjustments throughout the series.

This was pretty bad, idk what he was thinking tbh.

This mirrors my thoughts. I'm fine with Darvish starting but after that first inning he had, I'm warming an arm up and yanking at first sign of trouble in the 2nd. Especially with Kersh and Wood available. We waited until two base runners were on before even warming morrow up. Then we put Morrow in after two pitches to Springer. He should have been in for Springer.
In the end, I also agree that we can nitpick mistakes, but our big guns that stepped up for the NLDS and CS largely disappeared and while Springer was finding himself.
We're young though. We have dudes locked in. We have some retooling in the BP and some choices to make this summer, but we'll be back with a force next year.

Sports talk in LA is claiming Darvish might have been unintentionally signaling what pitch he was throwing. Basically if it's a fastball there's no movement after the grip. With the slider, there's movement. This is wild because it's believable. He was doing this before we traded for him. It's also Wilde because management should be picking up on tnis

Makes sense on multiple levels. He was basically unhitable for 1.5 months and tore through the first games in the post season. Then trash. Utter trash
Dodgers better make this up for me by getting Otani. Could use that boost to get out of that post-WS lull teams can find themselves in. Our bullpen can become better if we hold onto Morrow and Buehler becomes a weapon out of the pen. We'll have Verdugo and Toles to win that outfield spot too.
I'm pretty excited about the future with my only worry being next year's starting rotation. Not so much the depth as we have it clearly, but that next punch after Kershaw. It will be needed in the playoffs otherwise we'll be stuck with 2016's playoff rotation.
