The balls are actually junk. Verlander was at least smart enough to throw the worst of them back. Jansen was doing it, too. I'm not sure I've seen other pitchers reject balls quite as often, though I think you'll see them do so tonight.
This is a bipartisan issue. Pitchers on both sides have complained, so I'll tend to believe them. That said, since it is impacting both sides, they also just have to deal with it. Verlander style.

That was a good game. The only questionable decision was pulling Rich Hill early. I don't understand why Roberts refuses to let him stay at the first sign of trouble. He certainly doesn't do that for Kershaw, and Kershaw hasn't really shown that he can handle those high leverage situations.
Wasn't a big fan of the 6 out save either in case we need Jansen tonight. Then again, Wood and Kershaw are definitely available.
