By Jeff-DSA Go To PostThis isn't a bad loss. Losing with Darvish or Kershaw on the mound would be.
This is a horrible loss when you consider in spite of everything that happened, the Dodgers were up 3-1 at home in the top of the 8th, against Verlander.
You telling me Ryu couldn't pitch out of the pen? He did great in his one relief appearance with 4 scoreless dominant innings just like Maeda (before we permanently put in him there). Can't trust everyone else after Cingrani, Morrow, Maeda, and Jansen.
Fucking shit
This game didn't help my anxiety

Exactly. It's the circumstances of how we lost. Just a total collapse of the bullpen in the last two innings. You have a 0-2 pitch count to the start the ninth, and Jansen throws it right in the middle of the strike zone for the tying run.
Going 2-0 was perfect. Take the Kershaw game on the road, come back for game six in LA. I still feel good. Verlander pitching at this level was always going to be a difficult win but we'll see how the Astros bullpen holds up later in the series.
I fucking knew it. I was paying attention to the minor league playoffs to keep track of prospects and I knew McCarthy was ass in A+ ball. Combining the regular and post season, he gave up 8 runs in 11 innings in high class A. He's been awful since then. You combine his MLB late season appearances, and that's 12 runs in 17 innings.
How the fuck was he chosen over Ryu? Because Ryu can't pitch out of the pen? Dude did it this season and you bet your ass he would like to take part in the World Series.

Awful loss. Jansen blowing the game is something i didn't expect. I still think Morrow needed to stay in longer. Pulled the plug too quickly.
By The Frankman Go To PostHouston is such a ridiculous team in their ballpark. If Dodgers don't win Game 3 there a good chance it doesn't come back to LA.
We would still have Kershaw for Game 5.

It's not his fault ... but that Puig diving attempt ... man
By Fenderputty Go To PostIt's not his fault … but that Puig diving attempt … man
He needed about 4 more inches, would have changed the entire dynamic of the 8th inning and subsequently the 9th.
Of course Springer comes to life after I said they should move him down lol
It seriously needs to be 3-3-1
By friskykillface Go To PostHow haven't they said fuck the 2-3-2 format yet
I'd be pissed if I had home field advantage

Tbh I have zero confidence that we win this series now.
Fuck the Astros. They're worse than the Cardinals.

By Fenderputty Go To PostIt's not his fault … but that Puig diving attempt … manThat was a hell of a try by him, was so close to getting it there. Astros also got lucky with that ump stopping the ball, would have put the runner at third, might not have got him in still, but would have changed the next out a little.
Roberts overmanaged the middle part of that game. He could have kept Hill in to try to get one or two more outs, and yank him at the first sign of trouble. Same with Maeda.
I'm also worried that with all of this talk about an amazing bullpen, the stellar numbers were mostly due to Maeda, Morrow, and Jansen with some help from Cingrani and Watson. When you actually have to throw in Fields, Stripling, and McCarthy, it worries me when you have an offense like the Astros.

Game three and five are wins. Book it
My goodness, that was one of more intense games I've seen in quite some time. Of course Smoltz had to have the Coors Field reference :) Game 3 should be very interesting, not sure which McCullers will show up.
Girardi out as manager apparently. Can't say I'm too upset. We have a good young team and I think a better manager could take this team to that next level. Or at least not fuck up as much as he did.

Dusty Baker is available lol
By Juicy Go To PostDusty Baker is available lol
I think Baker has already been picked up.
Edit: Apparently, I'm wrong.
I dont understand this move from a yanks standpoint. I doubt they find someone as good as him for next season.
Also, rewatching the highlights from last night and Joe Buck is trash tier with these HR calls. Really wish Matty V was calling these games...Santa Maria!!!

Darvish on the road....now that's a scary sight.

Yup. He's our true #2
BTW ... all this talk of bat flipping this from the old farts has me rolling this morning. Game was super fun. They asked the Dodgers about the Correa bat flip and our response was basically: We have Puig, hold my beer.
By disillusion386 Go To PostRoberts overmanaged the middle part of that game. He could have kept Hill in to try to get one or two more outs, and yank him at the first sign of trouble. Same with Maeda. This is exactly it. Those 5 guys are the only ones trustworthy (despite Jansen's rare blip). The other guys are somehow getting credit for being part of that dominant bullpen when they were kept to a minimum in the first 2 series.

Ughhh Ryu would be such a big help from the bullpen.
By Moris Go To PostI'm still bummed.I know that feel, man.
I woke up this morning feeling just...empty. Like the series ended last night.
Watching girardi fuck around with pitchers so much makes me glad he is gone. But he did win games few other managers would win (the WC playoff game).
Kike is the DH for the Dodgers tonight. Hmm, would also have been good with Culberson.
Already getting a little nervous.

Culberson has actually done well everytime he's been called upon.I was hoping to see Turner or Seager at DH to save their legs/backs. This would put Culberson in the field. I'm thinking Culberson is the right-hand bat off the bench tonight, the Dodgers have lefty-heavy bench. Either way, I believe in Yu.
We'll see how it plays out
By Moris Go To PostGonna leave early to catch Game 3. Very shook, but optimistic
On way home. Hopefully traffic is light
Seriously, is Yasmani dead? Is he just relegated to the bench now? I was under the impression that he and Barnes would be platooning.
By disillusion386 Go To PostSeriously, is Yasmani dead? Is he just relegated to the bench now? I was under the impression that he and Barnes would be platooning.Barnes hasn't hit well in the past 4 games, but he's the more consistent bat and Grandal is prone to a lot of passed balls. Never know which Grandal we'll get.
