Tomorrow at 8:00 pm PT / 11:00 pm ET, Nintendo Direct will be showcasing its first glimpse of Animal Crossing for mobile, during a roughly 15 minute video presentation they have planned.https://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-direct-will-showcase-animal-crossing-for-mobile-this-week-468586.phtml?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
I'm torn. I love the franchise, and this could be so good; Animal Crossing is basically designed for pick-up-and-play, collection-oriented gameplay that stretches over time, and that is an ideal design for mobile games, but it could also easily be an oversimplified microtransaction slog.
Have we heard anything about the core design of the title, or is tomorrow really our first look?

Oh god, with all my pining about a Switch AC, I totally forgot about this. This has potential to be one of Nintendo's all time greats. You just know they're gonna water it down so as not to cut into the console versions... but really they should go all-in on Animal Crossing Mobile. I'd be playing it on all my work toilet breaks.

Every other franchise they have done were not really suitable for mobile games but Animal Crossing already is. But they wouldn't dare release a real Animal Crossing game on mobile, would they?

By GuiltyGrave Go To PostI hope it's a full fledged addition to the series. At least we won't have to wait long to find out.Mobile gaming fucking sucks. I hope its not a full AC game.
By GuiltyGrave Go To PostI hope it's a full fledged addition to the series. At least we won't have to wait long to find out. This was my hope as well when they originally announced this was gonna be a thing, but ever since the Switch I'm not so sure. Would Nintendo release two fully fledged Animal Crossing games on "competing" mobile platforms? You would have to assume they have something for the Switch in development or at least the planning stages considering even Pokemon is making the transition in the next year or two.
My post from the other thread:
I'm trying to keep my expectations in check. I really hope I like what I see. I put more hours in New Leaf than the rest of my 3DS library combined.
By NeoFoxTrot Go To PostI'm down for more AC. Love this series. Mobile would not be my first choice, though. Curious to see how robust (or not…) this offering will be.

super hyped for this... it it's gatcha (which im assuming at this point after fire emblem) gonna cost me some dough for sure
Yeah I'm looking forward to this. All I'm hoping for is, that it won't have a sticker-like look to it ala the Fire Emblems mobile game, and keep the visuals of the traditional AC games or something close to it.
I'm always hyped for more AC but also cautious about mobile games. Neither Miitomo nor Super Mario Run hooked me, and I kind of doubt this will either just because I don't game on my phone much.
I am super hyped and I hope it's slightly deeper than HHD. I never did get around to picking that up though the freedom of decoration looked fantastic, but the lack of other typical AC activities kinda put me off. I'm not expecting a full-fledged AC game out of this, but I hope for a bit of substance at least.
Good. I have been waiting for this forever just because I knew Nintendo wasn't going to show off AC: Switch until this came out.
Will totally play this too. And I'm betting it'll work with the Switch game in some way.. But damn, it's been almost 5 years since A New Leaf came out. I need more!

Cant wait to be addicted to this. It only needs 3 things to me:
1. Don’t require internet to play;
2. Don’t overkill on mivrotransactions;
3. Don’t eat all battery life in minutes.

Animal Crossing is the game I miss the most from the 3DS I sold. I hope this mobile version is good enough to fill the gap.
I haven't played Animal Crossing since Gamecube, but I'll definitely check this one out. It's time to rekindle an old addiction.
I am legitimately fearful of how Nintendo will handle microtransactions in this game. In the brief time I played Fire Emblem Heroes, I never spent a cent and didn't feel like I had to. Nintendo could have a real cash cow on their hands with AC Mobile but I hope they are conscientious about the monetization system and don't disrespect their fans or prey on them.
Y'all better grab some Nintendo stock! jk it's probably too late. Wish I bought more when it was at 14 bucks…
I don't think the potential is here for a full blown sequel as some have suggested but given the direction Nintendo is going in, I'm hopeful for a real title on Switch with a tie-in.
This could be big. I'm hoping this will be a full-blown AC title. It makes sense having it on mobile since the franchise doesn't need cutting-edge graphics. It's all about short bursts of play. It would be ace to sell turnips when I'm waiting in line somewhere :)
If they know how to set this up properly, it will be huge for Nintendo and money will rain for them.
If it is Gatcha bs, i hope its at least a companion app where you can get villagers from a gatcha machine and have them move into your town in the Switch game.
Like i get Apollo the Eagle from my ACMobile gatcha machine and can choose to bank him or have him live in my town.

By Royal_Zebra Go To PostIs this Direct happening in 5 hours from this post?14ish hours from now.
Animal Crossing has always been of those series I feel I should love but always get bored with after awhile.
Gonna be curious about this one. Been a while since I've played an Animal Crossing game. Mobile might just be the flavor I need.
As others have said, this is definitely a game designed for mobile. Hopefully Nintendo handles it appropriately. Not that they haven't with their other titles, but this could still go one way or the other.
By Oersted Go To PostLol. Probably just a Staff member bored at work or visitor with time to kill.
The hype is real
I’ll definitely try it because I loved New Leaf, but I’m expecting a lot of f2p BS. Hopefully it’ll still be fun despite that.
My fiancé is holding out hope for a port but a spin-off designed for mobile is almost a given. Hopefully it's something a bit more involved than the paltry treatment Mario got with SMR.
I am curious to see if this is a full fledged mobile title or just a side game to prepare people for a potential Switch title. I think Animal Crossing is one of the few IPs Nintendo has that can really create a full mobile game with just because of how pick-up-and-play it really is, it’s very casual, not much of a time investment. Excited!
If it has ties to a new Switch version of AC, I'll give it a shot. Otherwise I don't really have any interest in a mobile AC filled with microtransactions.

Looking forward to seeing this. Never properly played an AC game but I love watching my GF play New Leaf, music is so damn good and relaxing and there's something incredibly charming about the game and its world. I'm waiting for a Switch game to get me into the series proper but I will try this (if my darn phone can not implode).
