Stardew Valley has players taking the role of a character who, after growing tired of the corporate office lifestyle and endless rows of cubicles, decides to move to the titular Stardew Valley and take over their late grandfather's old farm. Grow and harvest crops, go fishing for... fish, befriend the various townsfolk, and just have a good time. The game is open-ended so you're free to tackle a variety of activities however you see fit.
The Farm: Plant, grow, and harvest a variety of crops and flowers. Each season yields their own unique opportunities.
The Mines: Explore hundreds of floors below ground as you mine for ore, defeat enemies, and uncover artifacts to donate to the local museum.
The Town: Partake in various festivals, befriend the townsfolk, and maybe even find your farming soulmate.
And if all goes according to plan you'll be able to do all of this with three friends next year when multiplayer is implemented. It was originally expected to launch with the Nintendo Switch version of the game but has since been pushed back. No details yet aside from that vague 2018 release window.
If you somehow still haven't played this game correct that mistake now.
Been eyeing this for so damn long, played tf out of Harvest Moon back in the day. Combat puts me off though, just wanna plant trees, grow fruit and have a dog.
Does anyone else have problems with the audio on the switch version? I find it crackles during both docked and handheld mode. Otherwise I'm completely hooked on this, I've already put close to 100 hours into it.
Bought it the day it came out on the Switch and the game didn't clicked with me, but I'll give it another chance soon and see how it goes.

Combat puts me off though, really just wanna plant trees, grow fruit and have a dog.The combat is a pretty lowkey aspect of the game, to be honest, and doesn't really get in the way that much. I have a couple friends who more or less avoided even going to the mine for a good long while. The game is pretty good at letting you go about playing how you want, and since it goes on indefinitely there's no real penalty or possibility of missing things.

Can't say with 100% certainty but I wouldn't be surprised if a patch is coming, considering the number of reports.

This game for me proves Switches concept more than anything else I’ve played.
I’ve bought the game on other platforms but I’ve been playing it more than ever.
My switch had mostly stayed docked before this came out. Because I wasn't really into playing Zelda and other games in handheld mode. But this game is perfect to swap in swap out for just a few minutes or hours of play

By VendettaRed07 Go To PostThis game for me proves Switches concept more than anything else I’ve played.Same here. I already put 50-ish hours into the game on PC last year but knew that when it dropped on Switch I'd be back. I haven't stopped using the thing since this came out and that's after a long hiatus of pretty much nothing since I bought it. The Switch really is kind of the perfect platform for a game like this.

Really great and addictive game, I've been playing for a bit more than a week and I'm already at 40hours, it's been a while since I've playing a game that much

It's my favorite too, really a beautiful season, and perfect temperature for me. Also has my favorite music in Stardew (Raven's Descent), it's such an amazing song and it's so calming, it's perfect for this game

Funny, because it's taking mine, one 15 minute day at a time.
By EvilChameleon Go To PostFunny, because it's taking mine, one 15 minute day at a time.Yup. I'll play what feels like five minutes and realize two hours have gone by.
90hrs on Switch.. oh god. I've really loved it. Though I'm getting to the point where there doesn't seem to be a whole lot left to do. Luckily Odyssey is around the corner I suppose.
Stardew was a joy to figure out and discover. Made an effort to avoid any tips or direction, and it was very rewarding. My farm is far from optimised but I'm happy with how it looks and operates.

Nice OP. I've been kind of circling around this game but with Mario coming up so soon it would be a pointless purchase at this point.
Winter has been a good opportunity to upgrade my tools and expand my farming land, but I'm craving the return of spring - I feel most in-the-zone in this game when I'm growing things.
By giririsss Go To PostI want to play this. But seem to have no time for it.
Also afraid i'll be addicted to it.
Afraid?
I noticed recently that you have to keep up relationships with others or else you start to lose them. Is their an easy way to build relationships? Are relationships necessary? I just like farming. I know I'll be missing out on some events, but O don't particularly care for many of the villagers.
On a separate note- this is the best harvest moon game in a long time. Like, some of the design choices and QoL mechanics are so obvious, its amazing Nastume never implemented them.

You can farm to your hearts content and never speak with the townsfolk and you'd be fine. Building up those relationships is pretty easy, though. Find out what items a person likes and just be sure to give it to them as a gift every once in a while (I think it's twice per week, although I could be wrong).

Used staircases to get down the last 10 levels of the mines. Could have done it legit, I'm sure, but things were getting dicey.
By EvilChameleon Go To PostUsed staircases to get down the last 10 levels of the mines. Could have done it legit, I'm sure, but things were getting dicey.I did that for floors 10 - 20. When you're lower level and have shit weapons those flies or whatever can be a huge pain. Just didn't even wanna deal with it.
I have been avoiding looking anything up about this game while playing on my Switch, but there are no hints I've seen for how to utilize the skull key. Is there something obvious I am missing?

Here is the answer...
Take it to the desert, and there is a cave on the left side with a door you can use the key on.
Been dabbling on and off with this game, I love everything about it; but I'm trying to complete some of the other games I have. Like Axiom Verge and Golf Story. I have way too many games, lol.
Stardew Valley is deadass fantastic though, if y'all are on the fence, jump on it.

This game is pretty amazing. I love getting into a routine but also having the freedom to change that up as needed. This is my go to for when I have the TV or football on. Unfortunately it has pushed Golf Story off to the side, but hoping to get back to that at some point. The "one more day" addiction is real. What's everyones farm names?
By Tacosaresandwiches Go To PostWhat's everyones farm names?
I just called it "Mound Farm". "Mound" being the name I have used for every town in Animal Crossing since the GameCube version.

I named my farm "That one Farm"
I kinda wanted to develop a back story of people who never paid attention to their neighbors. And strangely enough it kinda works since the villagers seem so distant in the first place.

You are correct. But like you, I didn't know it was possible to see your relationships deteriorate if you stop talking to them.
I'm only on my first summer thought, so I don't know a lot about the game. If it is true, then I'll try to be more careful while trying to pursue Leah, penny and Haley at the same time.

This game is sooooooooooo good. I hadn’t enjoyed a like that in a long time.
I’ve “finished” my first playtrough months ago and I’m waiting for my January vacation to start all over again. Can’t wait.

Who's Pam? Penny's mom I guess?
I discovered that Haley really loves Sunflowers, so I'm making a lot of them.

Abigail. She would be a tremendous real life girlfriend/wife too. Hates the heat. Loves the rain. Loves music. Loves games.
