Just got my tickets for the first showing of Black Panther tonight. Got them 2 hours ahead of show time and clerk said there were 60 seats still available. She said they had massive presale orders but they were all for Friday.

Black Panther could be on the way to having a 200M$ OW in the States. This is going to be an interesting weekend at the box office.
I am still very intrigued by how it will perform worldwide.
It's opening big on the U.K. (which I kind of expected) and in South Korea, French seems to have good numbers but nothing close to being a record.

I watched Civil War for first time yesterday. It was generally a waste of time, with some good cameos and a few good scenes. Had no idea Black Panther was even in it, that was dope. More hyped now.
Wakanda Forever!
BP is in the gunning for best Marvel Movie. And should be top #5 on everyone's list regardless of taste.
Killmonger was the best Marvel movie Villain by a mile.

By Apollo Go To PostBP is good with an amazing performance from MBJNot going to lie, MBJ is the reason I am most excited for Black Panther.
The man has been killing it in almost everything he has made and he has been excellent in the two times he paired up with Coogler.
Unfortunately, I am probably only going to watch BP in April and that is if actually reaches the local cinema here by then.
By domino Go To Postdamn this movie had bars
memorable characters
brisk pacing
a great villain
okoye
que dog mbaku
I thought the Rhino Tribe was Sigmas.
Which when you look at some of the other tribes and groups they could be frats/sororities too that added a whole other layer to the movie
I don't really follow the MCU or whatever it's called. I've only watched a handful of them (gotg 1 and 2, avengers 1 and 2, thor ragnork, and i think thats it?) but Black Panther was amazing.

#KillmongerWasRight but all he did was abuse women the whole movie 🐸
man when dude took his shirt off the gasp in the theater sounded like everyone had a heart attack all at once. I gotta know what workout he was on cause he was huge.
I' have a couple of problems with Black Panther. Mainly the trope of putting a character on ice for a chunk of it, the Marvel comedic stylings, the treatment of gun violence, and the the weightless CGI . Luckily the story was good, with meaning weight to it, and Michael B. Jordan presents a villian that is understandable, although not completely agreeable.
I'm seeing rumblings on Twitter that the next Bond director is due to be announced soon (maybe Tuesday) and Jeff Sneider and some other reporters are hinting that it might be Ryan Coogler.

Yea, after sleeping on it, it's my number 1 marvel film, with a qualifier: disregarding the action. The story is by far the best out of them, but The Winter Soldier's action sequences are superior. Until BP, that was my favorite Super Hero film.
Fantastic flick. There's a LOT of missed opportunity with Killmonger though. Justified as it was, his rage being dialed up to 11 the whole time along with his plan being a little too fantastical was the difference between BP being really solid and being an all time great. I think they went in the wrong direction with his performance and with aspects of the script. There were very clear heartstrings that he could have pulled at in order to make the choice between himself and T'Chala in regards to ideology being truly painful and difficult, and they did to an extent, but overall there was too much cartoon villain in him, which I found really disappointing and short sighted.
For example instead of: " I've waited my whole lifeee to kill you aRGHHHH" replace it with " It's not personal, it's for the culture."
Also seeing stealth racism on facebook too. White girl on my feed like "Was it just me or was BP not as good as I expected. Given all the type I thought it might have been better? *shrugs*"
smh

Sunday was actually way better than originally predicted and the 3 day total is over 200M$ apparently, could reach 230-240M$ for the 4 day weekend.

Disney confirmed that Black Panther had the 2nd highest Sunday of all time with 60.1M$ (400k behind TFA's record), 3 day total stands at 201.8M$.
Black Panther will pass Justice League's US box office total in the next couple of days.

Black panther is an amazing movie. Agreed with some of you above about MBJ character though: they could and should have given him more screen time. He had an ideology I bet many in wakanda agreed with, and that even tchalla seemed to think might be true. Went too far into the cartoon villain when he should have been more thoughtful at points… Shit the dude graduated college at 19 and then went to MIT then navy then etc etc to get to where he was now, so he was definitely an incredibly intelligent dude, shoulda let him express it more in the movie
Rumours that Black Panther might have beaten the estimates again and could have had the biggest Monday of all time.
The funny thing is from what I see in the reviews, they could've went much deeper. Black Panther has like 40+ years of usable ink to use, and unlike some other characters in the Universe dude was very political the whole time. Don't even have to mention his social life, having a black girlfriend and a white "girl who was a friend" in college, anything regarding Erik Killmonger, etc.
The most surprising thing to me was how good Danai Gurira was. Like...give her her own solo film good.
The Walking Dead might have to recast or kill her off. If there's any justice she's going to be doing a LOT more big screen work.

Confirmed now, Black Panther had 241.96M$ 4 day weekend, beating The Last Jedi's 241.6M$ and only behind The Force Awakens 288M$.
It also now holds the record for best Monday in the US, edging past TFA's 40.11M$ with a 40.167M$.
This numbers are absolutely insane, who the hell expected Black Panther to beat Justice League's total US box office run in just 4 days?

And I again I'm just so so so happy
Finally saw Black Panther. I loved it. I'll probably notice the flaws later but I don't think they'll detract from the big smile I had on my face leaving that theater.
been a couple of days now and i'm thinking i really just don't fuck with black panther like that lol

i don't know how that was the script they settled on. its just a big contradiction that they couldn't pull off. i like the presentation but they didn't have the writing to take the angle they did.
"but he was going to ruin wakanda" wakanda was already a useless monolith by the definition of the film. fuck em.
