I've not seen the usual Apple pre-orders thread this year, or maybe I'm just uber keen to get the monster thread started so let me give it a go! Come here for details on the upcoming devices and updates in the tech world. The thread will be updated on the regular depending on product launches, including software troubles.

The iPhone X, pronounced "iPhone 10," was introduced at Apple's September 2017 event as a classic "One more thing..." addition to the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus product lineup. According to Apple, the iPhone X represents the most significant technological leap forward since the original iPhone got introduced ten years ago, and it sets the path for the next decade of iPhone development.
Apple's chief aim with the iPhone X is to create an iPhone that's all display, blurring the line between physical object and experience. The 5.8-inch front screen melts into a highly polished curved-edge stainless steel band that encircles a durable all-glass body available in two pearlescent finishes: Space Gray and Silver. Both feature a black front panel. The display employs new techniques and technology to precisely follow the curves of the design, all the way to the elegantly rounded corners. Including the first OLED screen on Apple Mobile Devices, which rises to the standards of iPhone, with accurate, stunning colours, true blacks, high brightness, and a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio

Huge thanks to wachie from NeoGAF for creating all the graphics in the original NeoGAF thread.

Our vision has always been to create an iPhone that is entirely screen. One so immersive the device itself disappears into the experience. And so intelligent it can respond to a tap, your voice, and even a glance. With iPhone X, that vision is now a reality. Say hello to the future.

I need help making it fancy and would take any helping hands steering the ship towards fewer bezels.

I hope it isn't a supply issue.
Korea is expecting it early December. i want it this year.
Supply will be limited at launch, and I am expecting an NES classic situation
Jumped ship from Android to ending up with an 8 Plus and 5th gen iPad in about a week's time. Feels weird, but good to be back on iOS. Haven't been plagued by any of the seemingly terrible iOS11 yet, and the 8 Plus battery is ridiculously good. Was tempted to go for the X but I figure next year's iteration will be much better, considering this is their first run of the new design.
I just don't know what to do with all of these icons on the home screen.

Welcome back to the team! iOS11 is quite bad in certain areas but should be up to snuff soon with future updates on the systems. First generation Apple projects always are hit and miss, I believe many are sticking with iPhone 7 and older for the next year. Good call
Have you made any folders on the front page?
I’ve yet to notice any big ios 11 problems on the technical side, but sad that majority of games I kept buying iPhones for no longer work and will never be updated. Rip chaos rings, 1112, and a bunch of others that have been removed from the store now.
I just got the notification that iOS 11.1 Developer beta 4 is live, anybody on the program? I’m enjoying it so far but the bugs are immense on the iPhone 7. Apple Pay is broken on so many levels with pay machines, ceasing to work for me leading to awkward situations

You on the new flagship device, I guarantee the experience is more fluid but on the last generation hardware iOS 11 is awful

Everything is pretty slow on my old 6 that I didn’t get rid of yet, but it’s always been like this with apple hardware after a couple of years of use for me.
Anyone else get a ghost image Safari symbol stuck on their screen when downloading something into the download space of Safari. It looks like the symbol freezes as it swooshes up to the task bar. It doesn't go away after that and gets in the way. image for example:

I believe I'm on the current version. It's an odd thing. Brand new MacBook and on High Sierra, so maybe the OS is causing it. I have been having issues with this High Sierra install. Slow to save screen grabs, emptied trash icon not updating fast, some amount of memory issues. Got the highest end options when I bought this a few months ago so yeah these issues shouldn't be happening. May just have to make an appointment at the Apple store.

It could be issues with the machine, I’ve got the 2017 MacBook Pro and run into no issues at the moment. High Sera beta is installed on the system with hardly any slowdown. Perhaps make a appointment and see?
I’m a bit lukewarm on my iPhone 7 though that partly is due to me not having much interest in cell phones in the first place. macOS, on the other hand, is all kinds of awesome. Been using High Sierra for a few weeks and I’m really loving it. Very well designed OS in terms of appearance and I’ve had zero issues with it so far. A far cry from my experience with Windows. And best of all, hospitals scaling is stellar in comparison to its rivals along with great font rendering.

I definitely recommend a iPhone SE for newcomers to the whole OS operating systems, it has all the bells and whistles. But do you have an tablet? There quite a good companions to proper machines. Mac has the best appearance despite having a simple learning curve, the font wondering is unmatched but I do have a soft spot for Windows 10

I don't have a tablet. The most that I would use a tablet for is surfing the web on the go and that is something that I can do on my iphone. Not really worth it for me to send my money on a tablet.
Windows 10 does a lot of things well but some of the changes really have turned me off of it. The UI can be a mess especially the nonsense with the Settings panel and the control panel. Also not too fond of the appearance...Windows 7/8 were far superior in terms of appearance and were in a sense easier to create custom themes for. And Litestep had somewhat decent support for Windows 7. The loss of Litestep in Windows 10 really was a big blow for me. That said, there are some boons like the awesome new task manager and superior hidpi support compared to Windows 7/8.
Mac OS hits all the things that I desire when it comes to appearance/performance/font rendering. The only real flaw is the lack of gaming options when compared to Windows.
Well I'm all set to get my unlocked Verizon phone. I'll probably move it to T-Mobile unless someone feels like Verizon is better for $10/month. Seems like a comparable service these days, for less, with free unlimited Gogo in flight. Either way, these are my last days with AT&T, which feels wild to me considering I've been paying AT&T since 2007. Their package costs more, offers poorer coverage, and no compelling features to differentiate it from its contemporaries.
Most of my home/personal tech is Apple made.
I wouldn't have imagined that 5 years ago. I finally said fuck it and wanted some unity across my devices, got to say I'm pretty happy with the shift.
Just upgraded my 7+ to IOS 11 last night, I pretty much wiped my phone clean after the OS install. Set up it up as a new device, and it's been working without a hitch.
My parents upgraded to 11, without wiping the slate, and they were having issues across the board. I just wrapped a new device install on theirs, hopefully things run smoothly from here.

You joining the X master race? I’m picking up the phone on Apple Upgrade Plan, I could buy the item completely out on the day but don’t feel like dropping cash. Verizon is good depending on the area I never had issues with it while visiting the states.

Apple devices do have superb unity, the prices are crazy but for the connection between them is unlike others.
iOS 11 seems hit and miss between devices, I’m on the developer update service which has lead my iPhone 7 into a frenzy. Do your parents have recent devices? I never completely wiped the phone due to X being around the corner

Looking forward to finally updating my 6+.

I'm going to be camping outside the Apple store next Friday; I better get my phone on the day. Are you planning to upgrade? The struggle will be real in various regions.

I am in South Korea, need to wait till around December. I should be able to get it the first week it hits out here.
I've heard X supplies are in the tens of thousands at launch (for NA), so I don't know if getting your hopes up any time soon is the best move. Can't remember where I saw it, but I'll try to find the source.

That would be great! X is going to be pretty impossible to pick up on launch without pre-ordering
iPhone Upgrade Program Pre-Approvals Now Available Ahead of iPhone X Launch
Apple customers who participate in Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program and are planning to buy an iPhone X can now use the Apple Store app to get pre-approved for a purchase ahead of iPhone X pre-orders. Pre-approvals will be available for a limited amount of time.
To initiate the pre-approval process, customers will need to download the Apple Store app and choose their preferred iPhone X model to get their loans approved before pre-orders go live this Friday. The process is designed to make it easier for customers to get through the checkout process when pre-orders kick off.

I'm not even an apple fan but that's a sexy ass phone.
I have everything set up to go in the Apple app for pre-order. The only thing I'm not certain on is whether the app requires a full refresh upon pre-order time or whether you can simply click through from your favourites as the time hits.

I recommend getting up an hour before 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, October 27 as pre-orders will be hard to get done with site traffic. Update the Apple application occasionally just to avoid disappointments

Apple just announced that 8 will come out next Friday in Korea.

I’ve had some issues with iCloud contacts.. I have no idea what happened but I backed up and contacts were synced... but I’ve lost almost a years worth of new contacts... I’m so fucked... I think I need to restore my back up
I planned on doing the Apple's upgrade program, but I need to go through some bs loan approval nonsense with no option for preapproval for new participants!?! Yeah, I'm definitely not getting a phone on launch.
Fav thing about iOS 11 is the ability to access my stored password for apps they’re associated with. Fucking gold.

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostI want this so much.I think the biggest thing is for a country to have NFC terminals widespread, from there it's a question of Apple breaking deals with banks.
I remember reading there was a big barrier to entry in Korea.
Here in Finland since I've lived here I've seen NFC payment terminals pretty much everywhere. The ironic part is that my Finnish bank (Nordea) didn't issue NFC cards by default so I didn't get one, but on my Portuguese bank card I had NFC so only sometimes I used that to make NFC payments. Most of the times I prefer to spend money from my Finnish account. A week ago or so I've seen people around me getting their card upgraded (to a new one with NFC), but not mine since for some freak reason it only expires in 2019... it's like 3 years old and already broken as hell. Was thinking of ordering a new one, but then BOOM. Apple Pay out of nowhere. Virtual upgrade to NFC, no need to have it on card anymore.
Used it a couple of times, works great.
