Loving Battlefront so far. Basic story, but seeing new planets and playing in this world is just great for me.

By n8 dogg Go To PostLoving Battlefront so far. Basic story, but seeing new planets and playing in this world is just great for me.Same. VA is decent, too. A bit too jumpy from act to act (could use a tiny bit more exposition/world-building), but it's fun.
One thing I don't like: the walk and crouch-walk animations are terrible.
So I have been reading Plageius and it was pretty cool to then spot a throw back to the very first SW book I read. Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter.
In that story a guy named Pevan took a holicron from Maul and gave it to Palp in the hopes of him giving the information to the Supreme Chancellor. Palp says ok and puts the guy in a hospital to fix his wounds from his fight with Maul.
Obviously Palp destroyed it and had him killed, but in Plageius you see him with it and discussing what to do with Pevan.
Should finish the book tonight, I think I am a day or two from the start of the events in TPM.
Shame this book isn't considered canon, but it really does a great job of showing the rise to power of Palp.

How has this season been? The Mandolorian stuff put me off at the start of the season. Does it go back to more Jedi vs Sith shit?

Nice. Gonna need to give them all a watch this season.
Really looking forward to hearing McDiarmid on screen.

should have kept it
Solo spoilers.
]OPh boy. I was not expecting Maul to show up. I thought the reveal would be that Vader would be the one they alluded to.
That is going to blow the mind of a lot of people who have never seen any of the animated shows.
I really like that they used the Rebels voice actor for Maul.
Plus Han shooting first was great

By Elchele Go To PostSo what is the verdict about SOLO?
I enjoyed it. One for the fanboys.
Was always going to be hard to make an interesting story that could involve the details of Han that we knew. But the story was ok.
Han was not as bad as I thought. And Lando was really good.
I thought it was paced really well. Gonna be excited if they make a sequel.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostI thought it was paced really well. Gonna be excited if they make a sequel.Yeah I read the way it ends prepares it for a sequel. I hope not. I rather have random stories self contained in a single film, outside of the main saga.

That is what I thought this was going to be.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if the ‘sequel’ was its own thing with maybe only a Han cameo. Kinda like the Marvel universe films.
By Elchele Go To PostSo what is the verdict about SOLO?
its fun and probably features Clarkes best performance
really does well with the world building--both star wars story films feel very expansive in that regard, while the sequel trilogy films feel so cramped, as if the entire galaxy is hidden from the viewer
By Elchele Go To PostSo what is the verdict about SOLO?I think I liked it more than any of the recent Star Wars movies. Had a blast.

Didn't like SOLO that much. Was alright
This movie isn't doing well but I think Disney will shrug it off and try to reduce the budget and choose a more strategic release date for a potential sequel.
I'm thinking Obi-Wan film will likely pick up the threads from solo to some extent

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostThis movie isn't doing well but I think Disney will shrug it off and try to reduce the budget and choose a more strategic release date for a potential sequel. They'll probably chalk Solo bleeding money to the production trouble and middling reviews rather than people losing interest. I think more people knew about them firing the directors and reshooting the whole thing than they give audiences credit for. With the budget ballooning to over $300m, they don't have a shot at even making that back.

I don't know, we'll see. I don't know how much of an appetite there is for these Star Wars side projects. I don't know how excited people get about learning the backstory of characters like Boba Fett. Rogue One at least had the benefit of a different look, a different tone and a December release against no competition.
The budget was $250m after reshoots but before it this was going to be one of the cheapest Star Wars movies every made
Howard wasn’t sure what the job would entail at the outset. He was stepping in for a popular pair that had turned many dubious fans into believers in the project, so he wondered if Kennedy was simply looking for him to serve as the facilitator of a plan they already had in place. “I immediately realized that’s not the way Lucasfilm works,” he says. “Kathy is really a director’s producer and filmmaker-friendly in that way, and they were looking to me to make choices and creative decisions.”http://variety.com/2018/film/features/solo-a-star-wars-story-directors-reshoots-ron-howard-1202817841/
He inherited one of the darker aesthetics of any “Star Wars” film to date; it was one he embraced all the same. Lord and Miller had conjured a gritty, grimy palette reflective of the seedy underbelly of conniving crooks, battle-weary war deserters and ruthless criminal syndicates on display.
BUT BUT BUT BUT
The unfortunate thing about MKW having to drop out was due to his scheduling conflict shooting... SuperFly 🤦🏻♂️
Really a shame for him. Hopefully, he can come back to the universe in some other role in the future.

Solo was decent in a totally throwaway entertainment way. Really poor opening act, full of clunky exposition and cringeworthy ways of delivering unnecessary gap fills in the ‘Han Solo’ wookiepedia page, but it finds it footing around halfway through thanks largely to Ehrenreich finding his feet and settling into the performance; easily the best thing here besides Chewbacca. Glover is fun but basically just doing a Billy Dee impression. New droid is both a) annoying as fuck and b) hilariously fucked over by the script punishing her. Like, this is demonstrably worse than that woman in Jurassic World getting eaten and there is no reference to its morality at all. Stunningly nonchalant from the Kasdans there In regards to how they shape her character and then decide to fuckin’ ignore it.
Action was decent, some shots were gorgeous and some poorly lit, Bettany just played Bettany, and overall I’m just disappointed I’m not getting Lord and Miller’s version. Even if it was disastrous it would have been more interesting. This was just a summer blockbuster in Star Wars clothes. Nothing wrong with that... just a little uninspiring, especially coming after TLJ.

Should have let them finish it but I didn't see a ton of wiggle room in the script personally. I doubt they would have made a vastly different film.
The L3 thing is weird. My take is that she isn't sentient in the falcon and is dead, but the upload of whatever was her left a clear impression on everything. Otherwise yea, she'd be a slave to the falcon which she was completely against. They just failed to make it clear.

Catching up on Rebels and episode 10 was one of the saddest moments in SW.
That was fucking emotional.
