By LFMartins86 Go To PostI am more of a Revenge Of The Sith man myself, Attack Of The Clones is the only movie I absolutely hate. This is where i'm at. The only thing i dislike about Revenge Of The Sith is the pacing, but i attribute that to previous films forcing them have to bundle in far too much in a 2 hour plus film.
Attack of the Clones is awful though.
I loved Attack of the Clones as a kid. My parents must have thought I was insane, they hated it (justifiably so).
I loved Clones when I saw it the first several times in the cinema. Was also cool hearing the kids in the cinema go crazy for Yoda jumping around.
However, with each subsequent watch as I have grown to appreciate films more, I have learnt that it is just a real poor film all over the place. No amount of my SW fanboyism is gonna make me defend it. I still enjoy it because it is SW, but man some of it is a tough slog.

Fell asleep watching AotC a few weeks ago. That's how I feel about it. Other two prequels have sequences that really grip me, be it the podrace, a few duels, some space battles, whatever.
What has Clones got? That asteroid sequence I guess? Set pieces like the droid factory are embarrassing compared to the rest of the trilogy imo. No offence to people who like it of course.

I think pretty much everyone hates it, but I actually kind of like Dex's Diner. >_> It's not something I need to see again, and I'm not sure it's particularly fitting for Star Wars, but for all its weirdness, I like it.
Besalisks are a cool looking species, too.

By PurpleMug Go To PostPrequels will always be worth it for this alone.Anakin's Theme is better.
Absolute shit movie tho
Only things I like about TPM are:
Music
The three-way lightsaber battle (even tho it is dumb lol)
The teaser poster
Visual design

I think AOTC actually has the two "best" sequences in the prequels despite being the worst movie.
The first is when Obi-Wan fights Jango Fett. This is a cool scene because as soon as it starts, Obi-Wan loses his lightsaber. We finally get an action scene without people waving around CGI Magic Sticks. Obi-Wan and Jango have a cool hand-to-hand fight with lots of movement and dynamic action. We also get to finally see "Boba Fett" in action after all these years, except it's not really Boba Fett, but who cares, it's a guy wearing his armor. He has cool gadgets and actually gets the upper hand on Obi-Wan.
The second scene is when Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme are trapped in the arena. Again, we get a creative action sequence where the characters are forced to use their wits and intelligence to escape the monsters instead of waving around a lightsaber. Unfortunately the scene is promptly ruined when the Jedi cavalry arrives and immediately we get a mind-numbing CGI mess.

I like the idea of Anakin and his mother’s situation never getting resolved. Probably one of the best things about Clones, for me, even if it isn’t executed that well. Sure, he manages to find Shmi, but she is far too tortured to survive. Anakin descends into madness and murders everyone around him. His resentment there is the seed of all his hatred - the rest of the Jedi were kinda foolish to not even try to help her out once - and comes back into play when he has his dreams about Padmé. Of course, this is all undermined by Padmé casually suggesting his murdering spree was okay and something anyone would have done.

I think that might be my feelings on the prequels in a nutshell, like the idea of it but wasn't executed as well as it should have been.
I remember going to see Clones twice in the cinema, the 2nd time thinking “it couldn’t have been that bad, right”
*in Ron Howard voice* it was
Worst Star Wars film by quite a distance and I count the prequels and Rogue One as the same level of quality

Oh god Rogue One was completely forgettable. Loved almost everything about Force Awakens, except Maz Kanata and weak Snoke CG!
The 2 latest SW movies were bland and forgettable. They didn't manage to capture the charm of the original trilogy at all. I'll watch SW8 but my expcations are moderate at best.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostSo, have we settled a viewing schedule? I have been feeling the hitch to watch them.
I am cool with anytime on Saturday.
How about 3pm EST? Should allow for a wide range of timezones.
By Marcello Go To PostIf you google "3pm EST", it should convert it to your local time. At least it does for me.
but
that means i have to do something
By Music Man Go To Postdoes anyone else here watch Star Wars Rebels?
I do!

I really love rebels, gonna try and get on the new episodes this weekend.
Haven't watched rebels yet but got s1&2 on blu ray. Really enjoyed Clone Wars tho. Need that live action show fam.
You guys go with whatever suits and I'll just play catch up if needs be.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostLet me know soon, so I can put the date and time in the thread title

Was waiting for rebels to hit Netflix. Now I guess I’m waiting for the Disney service. D: Complete box set will probably release before that so I may get that instead. If it isn’t a thousand dollars.
By n8 dogg Go To PostI remember being 8 and walking out of AOTC and thinking it sucked dog dicks.
Whoa you’re a baby
By TheMikado Go To PostSo question. Am I a bad person for Rogue One being my favorite?
Of the Disney era? No. You are correct.
I find it much more enjoyable and rewatchable than TFA.
^ breh how the jarring and incohesive shifts between scenes and facsimiles of characters and charisma free leads make R1 more rewatchable than TFA I do not know.

Worth it all just for Vader.
It is flawed, but I enjoy the action. We didn't need this movie, but we got it and I like the fan service.
TFA is well made, but there was no character in it for me. I never felt on the edge of my seat excited.
I find TFA far more rewatchable. I like RO, but it’s too serious and moody to watch on a whim, or in fragments. I have to be in the right mood for a movie like that. TFA is light and giddy, making it easy to pick up pretty much whenever, wherever.
I'm going to say something controversial
Season 2 Finale of Star Wars Rebels is the best star wars anything i've ever seen.

Really is an amazing episode. Defo the height of the show so far.
Holiday special is amazing.
I would love to see all popular series have a holiday special made with the whole crew on drugs.

The problem with TFA is in its design to kick off a new trilogy. Rey doesn’t really do much and is only reactive at the end of the movie. Really ruins her arc for the film. If we break her story down by the hero’s journey she’s barely met her mentor and is going into the second act by the end of TFA. Leads a lot to be desired and it only happened because JJ wanted to have a cliff hanger.
Still an entertaining movie

i'm not a film nut, but can you apply the hero's journey to one singular movie that was made to be part of a trilogy?

They're still supposed to tell their own stories and characters are supposed to have an arc. Rey never does anything for herself until the third act of the film. So we have 2 acts with people telling her things about herself. They should have had her realize, on her own, that her family was never coming back but she's told that by someone else.
It's just what happens when you write movies fast and for profit.
Going to watch The Phantom Manace some time today.
I've always go in chronological order, better to watch the worst first so you can expect the best after.
